Assuming you have a bad fan: Take it apart... more. Just keep looking for screws. That sounds like a great machine to learn on. Worst case is you broke an old, overheating laptop. Once you full dismantle and rebuild one, you can do it on any laptop. It's not as scary as it appears.

Second the compressed air advice. Mine was hitting 95C and switching itself off when gaming. Blew air through it, left it for a bit to let any condensation evaporate. Then next gaming session it didn't even reach 65C.

My laptop would overheat and shutdown by itseft in less than 10 minutes after being powered on. It took me some time to figure out how to fix it. I blew compressed air through the heatsink at the back of the laptop to remove the dust and the overheating problem disappeared.

Fee: That's the thing - I've not had the connection and dropping issues with AT&T as I did when I was on Verizon (which I was for years). Not saying AT&T hasn't dropped the ball with the iPhone - repeatedly - but outside of *major* cities like SF where congestion is a problem I think a lot of the AT&T bashing is nothing more than folks wacking at the pinata of the month...
