You just got me even more excited for this movie Jason! Back to my 'Batman Begins'/'Gotham Knight' nonstop marathon now...
- Patrick
from twhirl
I can't wait to see Dark Knight. Thanks for the feedback. I've heard Ledger was amazing, have seen just a few clips.
- Charlene Kingston
I can't wait to see Ledger's performance in the Dark Knight, read your email on IMAX going to make sure I view it there!
- Joe Dawson
"...one of the greatest performances ever captured" that's a grandiose statement. i haven't seen the film, so i can't pass judgment. (Usually), landmark cinematic performances take time to distill and mature like a fine wine. i'll check it out
- ray
Jason, he was awesome. Although I love Jack Nicholson, Heath was the perfect Joker. Just enough Devil inside.
- Fred Tabsharani
Saw it late Saturday night, Heath was amazing, and the movie itself was as close to perfect as it gets.
- Andreas Matern
The entire cast was stellar. Oldman, Freeman, Bale, Cain, Eckhart, Maggie...and of course Ledger. Freaking incredible - there were moments I just shook in fear of the man.
- Ben Parr
Perfect money-making formula: Four Hot Guys and An Action Movie
- chantelle
After watching the Dark Knight at a Friday midnight showing, I literally cannot see any of the previous Batman movies in the same way.
- Bassam Islam
hand raised here. There are a lot of freezes and hiccups where it seemingly takes a little break.
- matt hollingsworth
2.0 is definitely flaky / unstable - apps crash more often, more spontaneous reboots, more freezeups etc. - Apple have supposedly got an update coming soon - can't be soon enough
- Patrick Jordan
Once mine starts stalling, it's only a few minutes away from an auto-reboot. 30min-1hr of constant use in multiple apps will bring about a reboot.
- ·[▪_▪]·
It's definitely more sluggish and less stable than 1.1.4. The price we pay for more choice and complexity on essentially the same hardware?
- Kevin C. Tofel
Yup. Mine too. Lots of little hiccups in my iPhone 3G. Especially, web pages quitting for no apparent reason, returning me to home screen.
- Len Edgerly
what bothers me more then anything, is the whole 1 hour backup that you have to cancel out of, holy ted whats up with that
- Socom
mine happens the worst when i'm trying to use the keyboard. doesn't matter if it's for a txt, notes, or email. takes about 30 seconds or more to type.
- Veronica
Keyboard was hella lagging earlier, i was words in front of it and having to sit back and wait for it to catch up. Restarted and all ok again now.
- Simon Wicks
No problems here. It's been working like a charm (so far)
- John Frenette
from twhirl
major reboots for me on app launches. I had a period today where 3rd party apps would open then close
- Matt Devost
Mine reboots if I play a video podcast without explicitly using the "video" tab. Before 2.0 it would just play the audio fine from anywhere.
- Dwayne
Yeah, that and my passwords show while I type. That's ungood.
- Alan
Mine is getting very bad signal...actually have an appt to get it looked at Friday.
- Jay Martin
Yep its buggy when dealing with apps. Needs an update.
- Sean Davis
mine is very sluggish..hopefully we will see an update very soon..hopefully there is a software issue with draining the battery too so well see better battery...at least i hope!
- iJohn
from feedalizr
yep. when mine was jailbroken it worked like a champ, now it hangs in the breeze whenever it wants.
- grant fox
make sure you have the official release not the pre-release from the night before & try turning off push data
- mike "glemak" dunn
Raising hand for the iPod Touch 2.0 firmware. Some of the Apps have crashed too. Tho I noticed that several apps have updated within the past couple of days. Rumors suggest that a newer firmware is being readied.
- George Brickner
I find certain apps are causing problems (memory leaks, etc.) and that I have to reboot daily. If I don't use any apps other than Apple's, it runs pretty stable.
- Jim Bergman
It's crashing almost as much as it did when I jailbroke it. Almost.
- Bwana ☠
Sergio, I've tried holding the home button for 6 seconds to "force quit" applications in order to attempt to free memory by that assumption. It hasn't made *that* much of a difference, but it does help some with memory intensive apps like Mail, Safari and iPod
- Bwana ☠
@Veronica I have had the same keyboard issues. App crashing not that bad.
- Andy Lewandowski
Day 6 for me with no lock ups, freezes or crashes. Had a couple free apps that won't run but only those 2.
- Al Degutis
from twhirl
I love my iPhone for everything that I can use it for, but someitmes I just want to chuck it out the window - and then I remember I waited in line for 8 hrs :/
- Jennifer Van Grove
from twhirl
I have been experiencing smi-frequent Safari crashes. No random lockups as of yet though.
- Patrick
from twhirl
I've noticed too, on my iPod it's painful typing anything at times.
- Josue Salazar
I've had apps crash to the homescreen, but only one reboot so far. What annoys me more than that is that iTunes wants to back up the phone every time I plug it in. Also, why is the contacts app so slow?
- Frederic
I find when my keyboard slows down if I hold down the home button (not just press it) until it resets to the home screen and then reenter my app or txt it is much more fluid. 2.0 needs some definate stability work.
- Sidney
Yup ... freezes every couple days. Sometimes it even reboots.
- Jeff Smigel
2.0 is certainly flakier than 1.1.4. Apps lock up and reboots the iPhone randomly.
- Marshall Bose
"First everyone was going to leave Twitter for Jaiku. Then everyone was going to leave Twitter for Pownce. Then everyone was going to leave Twitter for Plurk. Then everyone was going to leave Twitter for FriendFeed. There's just one problem. Everyone is still on Twitter."
- tech.newsjunk.com
VentureBeat uses disqus for comments. I would like to have the comments from the VB article (I just posted one myself) readable here on FF and any comments posted here, be visible there. In other words, I would like Disqus and FF to federate. I wonder if Daniel and the FF guys have had any conversations about this? Federation is the word of the day, imho. And VentureBeat is great, but imho this piece is BS.
- Dave Winer
We would like that as well Dave. I'll respond to your comment shortly.
- MG Siegler
As we all predicted, the conversation will further fragment with every new service that exploits weaknesses of prevalent competitors. We'll just have to keep up with it all, until we no longer have to.
- Brian Solis
Twitter clones seem to be weekly fads for all of us twitter refugees, but the big T continues to be a fallback for everyone. Perhaps twitter will be magically fixed someday and everyone will be happy...
- Patrick
from twhirl
What's BS is (as I said in comments on VB) is that anyone knows the outcome of all this michegas. It's true there are more users on Twitter. But Twitter itself is so unpredictable and new things that shake up the configuration of reality seem to come EVERY DAY these days, the one certainty is total uncertainty. And that imho is a good thing. Like I said I'm impressed with VB, with a name like that it could be about deals and politics, but it's mostly very practical and interesting.
- Dave Winer
@dave and I responded in the comments over there. you and I see eye to eye on much of this more than you realize. i would direct you to more than just the piece that I did, but there are literally dozens. feel free to check my back posts :) ..... and yes, we realize the name issue, stay tuned.
- MG Siegler
@Aaron: it reminds me of a chat room. a/s/l anyone?
- Mona Nomura
"Ridiculously featureless." Well put. Not to mention it's really really slow. It's a good thing they have XMPP connectivity out of the box, since that's the only way it's remotely usable.
- Albert Willis
its more like we flock to these other services to lay claim to our handles, or else you are like scoble and they get scooped up.
- Andrea Baker
If identi.ca had a fail whale, we'd have already sighted it spout. Of course, it's really early ...
- Chris Baskind
Gee. It was working fine a minute ago. ;-)
- Leo Laporte
Had a look at identi.ca, but think friendfeed will be my new drug of choice
- James Fridley
I kind of hate it already, and I just joined tonight. I'm sticking with Twitter/FF
- Veronica
Anybody remember what Twitter looked like on it's first day live?
- Ken Sheppardson
MASS MIGRATION!! I see over 1,000 unique users already in 1 day! dang this app is going viral fast!... already got an outage error... we need a "fail MOOSE"
- Susan Beebe
I can't call them "tweets", and calling them "identi" is just weird
- xero
Seriously, they're already moving servers apparently according to the head guy there once it finally calmed down.
- Zach Flauaus
@Mona people complain but only for so long... remember - everybody left DOS years ago...
- Harry Myhre
Zach: who's the "head guy" @ identi.ca ??
- Susan Beebe
i'm willing to test out any of these microblogging platforms to find one that consistently works
- Chris
startups that experience exponential growth get slammed with new users... thus the performance hits on their servers = crawl
- Susan Beebe
Not sure if he's the "head guy" but Evan Prodromou (evan here and on identi.ca) is certainly up the chain. I've seen him described as the author in other threads.
- Ken Sheppardson
I'll stick with Twitter and Friend Feed for now. I've been to a few different places and it just doesn't feel right. Yeah, Twitter is down a lot, but I still like it. I also am liking FF too, because people can leave comments.
- Molly, "sorry"
FriendFeed is MY killer app.. the rest are time sucks
- Susan Beebe
I signed in with openid (liked that), uploaded an avatar and made a post. But I don't know if I want to put any effort into subscribing to anyone. I mean the people I want to follow (subscribe to) are mostly hear or on FF. Maybe I am just being lazy.
- Andrea Baker
The twitter clones all seem to have at least one defining thing going for them, but identi.ca is very plain. It seems like twitter with *less* features.
- Patrick
from twhirl
Apart from communities on twitter-clones tending to be much smaller than on twitter itself, if you make a straight up clone, you will probably end up with the same technical problems Twitter has. You'd have to change something quite radical on the architecture side of things.
- Horst Gutmann
Ugh, I hope people don't start using it. Now that I've finally left Twitter, I'm pretty content with FriendFeed.
- Dillon K. Hoops
@Igor You have that backwards. ;) Personally I'm liking FriendFeed. It's like an open architecture FaceBook. The only things I'd change is a better mobile interface, the ability to SMS/IM in shares, and the ability to comment on/like comments. That's it. The feature I love the most is the Imaginary Friend feature.

I thought what if he has a terrible month in June and I didn't do something to help, how would I feel then. All right I'm an ATM. I guess there are worse things.
- Dave Winer
You have a problem with FISA? How about Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Protection Act of 2007
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
I understood why people supported him a few months ago - but now that his true nature is showing (a Chicago politician who will sacrifice any position to win votes) I think all that's left is "anybody but McCain"... the same election we have been having for decades.
- Soulhuntre
I pegged Obama as soon as he denounced his Reverend. I call him the False Prophet.
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
Today he denounces his Reverend, tomorrow he will denounce Israel.
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
Soulhuntre: really? When I was touring Congress last week several congresspeople told me that McCain used to be a much more centrist candidate than he is now (even Republicans were saying that). He's turned toward the right to win over religious folks. And if you can't see a difference between Obama and McCain, I don't think you are looking very hard.
- Robert Scoble
Obama is like the Wizard of Oz. An amazing performance as long as you ignore the real man behind the curtain.
- Michael Tefft
I am glad people beginning to see through he Obama gauze! I is all a staler facade!
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
Wasn't the man behind the curtain an accomplished engineer responsible for the success of Oz? The only reason for the curtain and the light show was because people didn't listen to him without it.
- Kevin Fox
Well done Dave. Better to contribute to the decentralization of money/power influence.
- AJ Kohn
Obama just gave $2,300 to Hillary and his wife too (another $2,300) to help w/ her debt.
- Pokai
Yes,you will find obama hiding behind the curtain in the oval office if/when we get attacked again.
- Csturm
It's good that Hillary's made it clear that all future contributions to her campaign are to pay off the campaign's debts other than her personal loan. She's acknowledged that she's not going to get that money back.
- Kevin Fox
No Kevin, the point is Obama presents himself as much more than he is, Everyone seems to think he is the second coming instead of a junior senator in his first term.
- Michael Tefft
@Michael: What about Obama's policies do you disagree? You have a perception issue which is subjective and an experience issue which can be debated by going back to past Presidents - so which positions do you disagree?
- AJ Kohn
Michael is right. Obama is a PR *image* and most of his supporters are in love with the image he has created and know very little about the substance. Obama is a knee-jerk reaction to Bush.
- David Risley
I think people make their own judgments on how to perceive him. You may perceive him as unqualified because most of his experience is not at the federal level, but I believe your metaphor is disingenuous because it implies, without substantiation, that he's trying to deceive people.
- Kevin Fox
Having worked for a Dem Fundraising Company in Chicago for 3 years, I am surprised they aren't trying to call you for more.
- Michelle Trent
I agree with David Risley. Obama supporters are more about hate Bush than anything else. They would support almost anyone over another 4 years of Republican leadership. If you doubt my point about the hate Bush attitude look no further than San Francisco's childish and boorish effort to name a waste treatment plant after the President.
- Michael Tefft
Trolls? Already? Brilliant. Will no one rid FriendFeed of this troublesome beast?
- John Craft
No, Kevin, he has been caught trying to deceive people. Have you forgotten the Rev. Wright issue. I didn't know he was saying all those things. Just like President Clinton said "I never had sex with that woman."
- Michael Tefft
Obama must of wore ear plugs every Sunday for 20 years.
- Csturm
Tell me again why anyone with a brain _shouldn't_ hate Bush? The man is the worst president since Harding. I feel sorry for his successor. Bush has destabilized the economy, made the world a much more dangerous and divided place, and his imprudent tax cuts for the richest Americans have created the largest national deficit ever. It's not about ideology - it's about competence.
- Leo Laporte
John, I am not only a Troll but a Jew and Israeli. Be careful or I will eat you alive. lol Oh Robert is a such a Potz. He is trying to measure who will be the best candidate for US president based on their technological prowess. I guess the qualities for dealing with Iran and North Korea is the ability to use iPhone! LMAO.
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
For all the Obama alarmists: How could such a bad person have made it so far in the process? Seems impossible with all the media coverage
- Grant
@ Igor I am a Jew too and I feel Obama has NOTHING against Jews
- Grant
I'm struck by the number of knee-jerk postings, and slagging of Obama. The current President has been so incompetent, and generally set us back in the rest of the world's eyes. Obama represents a new generation, and by definition, he has to be a politician first to get elected. It's just that I do believe in his values and his hope for a better future. Change does begin with one person.
- Henry Burger
So Leo, if someone doesn't hate Bush they don't have a brain? Did you sign the petition to name the sewage plant after Bush?
- Michael Tefft
I haven't donated anything to anybody. I count on my tax dollars to fund the election
- Michael VanDervort
from twhirl
You may want to save the $100, if Obama gets elected you may very well need it-- that is unless you can take advantage of the inevitable new social programs ;-)
- Mark Nassal
from twhirl
@Grt of merit as one calling him a secretant - There is also no real evidence to support the claim that Obama has anything against Jews. That claim has about the same amount of merit as one saying that he is a secret muslim.
- Patrick
from twhirl
Oops, major drag mishap at the begining there, ignore the first line of that comment ; )
- Patrick
from twhirl
Of course all the knee-jerk postings are only from those who don't think Obama would be the best choice for President? I guess we should all just fall down before Obama and start worshiping. Is that knee-jerk enough for you. It is hard to spell out in a few words why I don't like Obama, so call me a knee-jerker. BTW it is not about Bush, it is about that other guy that never seems to get mentioned, McCain. Remember him?
- Michael Tefft
Look guys, I do not know if it makes sense, but I believe in God and I pray to God. When Obama denounced his Reverend that is an insult to God. He did not need to denounce him, he could have said, "I do not agree with him." Then the Dems pass FISA under Obama. That is another slap to freedom. I respect all people and religions, I just do not trust Obama.Oh and Dave sorry for not spelling g-d.
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
Good article. I read it before. People with opinions see what he is about.
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
First off, I applaude anyone who backs his politics with his wallet. However, I have to sayBush's tax cuts turned around the econ and pulled us put of the Clinton resesion. The tax cuts were NOT for the rich, I do payroll for a small business and people making less than $25,000/yr got a real reduction that made a difference in there lives. I guess that's why Dems hate small business, we know the economic truth.
- Robert Hafer
from fftogo
Look Bush is not the issue here. He got us in Iraq, that was a mistake. What do we do next?
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
Does anyone remember what the PIN number is for Winer? I need $100 ;-)
- Karim
Obama clearly has a Charisma of 18 and everyone just failed their saving throw vs. Charm.
- Akiva Moskovitz
the clinton recession? we had the largest budget surplus in years that 43 squandered
- Sean
Sean, you as have many others have been lied to about the phantom surplus. The "predicted surplus" was a projection based on the false assumption that the economy would continue to grow at the pre-increase rate, which, of course, it didn't because of the tax increase. The so-called surplus never materialized. The economy was bad the day 43 took office, do you really think he wrecked in his swearing in ceremony? Every time the tax rate has been reduced, the revenue to the government increases.
- Robert Hafer
Just reading through these comments, it's easy to see why politics is so devisive in this country. Each person sees through their own rose colored glasses.
- Henry Burger
All I see amongst these same anti-Obama comments are rehashings of old rightist propaganda that weren't true 8 years, or 4 years ago and or now - aka this phantom surplus of Clinton that indeed existed and was squandered by the following administration. And as for Obama changing his position? Helllo!! McCain's done that so many times over the last two years. He cuddled up to Bob Jones University, suddenly believes we should be in Iraq for years in spite of the cost he knows our military in lives. Shame...
- Matt Mendelow
I'm always amused at how people often take an 'If you're not with me, you're against me' stance when it comes to this stuff. They like to lacquer on assumption-fueled accusations and, worse, play a kind of equivalency game through which they excuse the wrongs of one side by pointing out the wrongs of another even if there is no connection between the two. Can't people just deal with the fact that sometimes people are not going to agree with you and are sometimes going to have good reasons not to?
- Akiva Moskovitz
Unfortunate use of money. The gift that will keep on taking, especially if elected.
- Jim Bednarz
DAMN! As much as I've found FriendFeed clunky, confusing, noisy and disorganized, this...THIS...makes it all worth while. DAMN. This is f'ing cool. Jay-Z's badass man!!!
