I use a mixture of vim with python extensions and a souped up .vimrc and for web dev work I also use Coda as a general tool. Google App Engine is fantastic for getting the code to live transition going quickly. - Ian Mulvany

well, AIR is released as an Alpha version for Linux, and you can run twhirl there. There might be some issues, but it is usable. - Marco Kaiser via twhirl

Use twhirl and like the features but not crazy about the UI. When I go back to Twitterific, which I often do because twhirl is not all that stable, I breathe a sign of relief. Ah, white space! Ah, DMs, replies, normal tweets, my tweets all at a glance look different! Ah, Growl support and nice sounds. Really hate the notifications in twhirl. Feature set superior; user experience, not so much. - Rick Powell

@Loic I've left a similar comment on various friendfeed links on a couple of occassions before. Before friendfeed on twitter is considered usable, that bug about comments getting eaten up half-way through typing them needs to get fixed pronto. I tend to type long verbose comments and its incredibly frustrating when the comment just dissappears. Apparently happens when the feed gets refreshed or or other refresh events. filters /Pipes and Search. If FF has a tab where I can create my own pipes across 'friends' and then display results of personalization into a separate tab, then its becomes one of the most powerful vehicles on the internet for content management and sharing. Secondly, an 'alert; tab for terms also would be great - I make and break alerts using google,but this can be implemented on FF (I think). BTW FF can have openid - - Peter Dawson

just to reinforce a few things. Threaded comments would be great (as would the ability to like comments). Tagging would be helpful. Track backs to incorporate comments into blog posts (probably best handled by an external app I guess) and finally, the system to aggregate duplicates of the same URI together (I would guess that's hard) - Cameron Neylon
