My husband works rotating shifts, they often are for me, too. It's boring when no one else I know wants to do things. - Heather
Sometimes it seems like the amount of work I do around the house doubles on the weekend. I am picking up after 2 people instead of just one. - Michelle Martinez
Happy birthday Lindsay! hope you're having fun at ikea! (says you posted 8 hrs ago, so i'm guessing you've found a parking spot right about now...) - Trent Olson
Mixed emotions, Nik Jonas is certainly helping to raise type 1 diabetes awareness. Musically though, AGREED! - Vicky Pearce
I'm glad that I have no idea who the Jonas Brothers even are. Hadn't even heard of them until a day or so ago when they were mentioned here on FriendFeed. - Akiva Moskovitz
I know who Donny Osmond, Leif Garrett, and Shaun Cassidy are. - Trish R
add a scoop of vanilla and then you got yourself a 7 on the NOM scale. - Yolanda
Pete, i wish i was an inspiration for people to make pecan pies more often... - Trent Olson
I literally don't eat sweets *except* for pecan pie, which I a pretty damn sweet pie. I love seeing yet another abstract corner of my life appear on FF - Marko
what about folks with nut allergies? - Glen Campbell
Akiva will not eat his slice of pie! He is a non-nutter. - Rochelle
Heresy alert: I *hated* pacan pie when I was younger. Too sweet, sticky, nasty. Then, someone asked me to make it for them. I used my mom's recipe, and I got sorta famous around my church and at work for making it. Now, I really like it. Especially warm with vanilla ice cream. nom^(n+1) - Harvey Simmons
is it ok if I just like pecans and not so much pecan pie? just asking. - Bren
My sister is the reverse, Bren. She likes the pie part, but, not the pecans. - Yolanda
I can see that...I'm just not into the super sweet...give me some nice dark chocolate (like 68% with pecans in it) and I am happy - Bren
Homer Simpson says "Mmmmmm..... Pie Charts.... (guttural slobbering sound) - Richard Walker
dang it I didn't cut the pecan on this pie chart - Susan Beebe
Bah... Now I want breakfast. But it's 11:30pm in Sticksville. - Michael W. May via twhirl
Rochelle, they have soy bacon? How does it compare to real bacon? - Michelle Martinez
Michelle, I haven't had real bacon since I was probably 10 or so, so I can't really remember real bacon enough to compare. But it's tasty to me! I eat it quite a bit. This is the brand I like best: http://www.seeveggiesdifferent... - Rochelle
Thanks, Rochelle. Morning Star Farms are supposed to have a lot of good non meat products. I was thinking of trying my toddler on some of these, but I am not sure he would agree. - Michelle Martinez
We just got back from a "home cooking" restaurant that a friend recommended. It was pretty good. I had hot water cornbread, too. I'm not used to hot water cornbread being sweet, but this is Texas, after all. - Harvey Simmons
many times, not my favorite dish - but well liked by my father - clarke thomas
Hecks yeah. That's good stuff right there. We have something called "pepper pot", which involves this black sauce called "casrup" or something. - Rahsheen
After I explained to my daughter that it was the tails of cows, not oxen, she asked, "Are you actually gonna eat that?" I said, "Baby, that burger you just ordered probably has tails and more in it." - Harvey Simmons
I had it in a terrine of ox tongue, foi gras and Puy lentils with a jelly of Pedro Ximenez sherry. Quite tasty (and I'm not a big fan of foi gras): http://farblog.files.wordpress... - Far
wonderful food, breaks down when braised to be wonderful meaty goodness - David Thomas
yep... i miss it. last time was 3 years ago :( - AJ Batac
yeah man, good stuff.. in a stew or a soup. big fat yumm. - Carlos Ayala
You just need a crockpot, some seasonings and whatever beans (if any) you'd like to cook them with. I tend to use black eyed peas. i cut an onion and a bell pepper, put them in the pot, put the oxtails, the beans, some beef broth and let it cook all day. So dang yummy! - Monique
yep. my mother makes it every 2 years or so. - EJ Flavors
well, damn. now I want oxtails. I love them! - jbrotherlove
No herbal tea? Love herbal tea, orange and peach are off the chain. - Michelle Martinez
Michael, do you have any whiskey? I ask because a hot tottie might just do the trick. - Stupid Blogger (aka Tina)
I do as well, but usually opt for water or the jolt. Only crappy wine bought on sale and found to be too crappy to cook with as far as alcohol goes. - Michael W. May
Last resort I use Tylenol PM. Found much solace in Tylenol PM in Iraq and Kuwait. - Michelle Martinez
Normally, I what I do is practice some deep relaxation. That usually works. Except for when it doesn't. Like now. Did chill me out considerably, however. - Michael W. May
Hmm... I don't have anything like that. I have a few saved, emergency Skelaxin (muscle relaxer) but only use them when the fybromyalsia is bad. Really bad. Else, they stop working to any effect. - Michael W. May
i have a fair amount of free advice regarding sleep disorders ;-) but would need to know more about your medical history (FM?) than is probably advisable to share in a public forum :-D - Karim
tried dm'ing you, Karim but since you are not following me... ;) - Michael W. May
I hear ya... been having the same issue for the first time in my life this week. - ChangeForge via twhirl
Worst insomnia I had was 11 hrs in Morocco (8 pm - 7 am). We were staying in an old Berber stone house, and I didn't want to wake up the Polish guy staying with me, nor try to figure out how to leave the house & come back. Tried to sleep, but rolled around all night. Good luck! (Usually I just give up after 30 min, get up again, and just force myself up in the morning). - Mitchell Tsai
I can't sleep either. It's 1am here, and I got tired of rolling from one side to the other. I figured I'd just get up and pack for my trip tomorrow. - Harvey Simmons
My nurse friends always suggest Benadryl for sleeping. Non-habit-forming. I am super sensitive to medicines and react immediately and effectively to anything. Benadryl works for me as long as I am ready to fall into bed within 5 minutes of taking it. Otherwise, I miss the window and end up w i r e d. - Lisa L. Seifert
Lisa: I've tried Benadryl for that, too. I used to take it (pre-Claritin) for my allergies, but I think I sort of built up a resistance to it. Now, it just seems to make me lethargic and grumpy. I have to basically take it while sitting on the side of the bed, or it backfires. - Harvey Simmons
We were diapering for 10 years. Now it's like it never happened. If I had the choice I'd restart and do it all over again just to push back the clock. You'll miss em when they're gone. - Jay Tannenbaum
I know. I miss the newborn days, but I forget about all the negatives. Everyone was right when they said time goes so fast. - Michelle Martinez
not that there's anything wrong with being a country hick (see: Danny Ford) - Jeff Quinton
I didn't feel as bad about country hicks after I watched a show about SEC media days. There was barely a coach with out a southern accent! - Michelle Martinez
They were off today. Something just didn't seem right. - Michelle Martinez
I am sorry for you Michelle, and I even thought about your feelings before I tweeted, but you have to be happy for them. Just pretend they beat Ohio State or better yet, Michigan. - RAPatton
What is your friend's source? Because everything I've read said she talked to the librarian about the concept of banning books and that's as far as it went. I had no idea there was a list. And Jesu Christo, I'm not defending her - I'm a librarian myself so this is of particular interest to me. But yeah, I gotta see the source. - Laura Norvig
Works for me... :) Truth be told, I could care less about the religious memes...I don't really care what religion you are, as long as you don't make their tenets public policy. - Helen Is SOOO Not Of Troy
I hate Michelle Malkin, but, per the onslaught of emails and comments I received from the persons who passed that list on to me, she's right about that (though not about the other stuff in that entry on her blog, but that's a discussion for another time). Wrote a blog entry updating myself. - Helen Is SOOO Not Of Troy
Michelle Malkin lost every last bit of credibility after the terrorist head scarf/Rachael Ray incident. - Michelle Martinez
That was the stupidest controversy ever. I find Rachael Ray annoying but damn! But I did hear from other sources that the book banning thing was false, aside from that MM link Laura Norvig provided. Sigh... - Helen Is SOOO Not Of Troy
@WarMaiden, I'm guessing a librarian job in Wassilly, AK is a political appointment - or at least Michelle Malkin would have you think so, no? - Helen Is SOOO Not Of Troy
Hope nobody got the impression I'm into Michelle Malkin - I actually didn't even know who she was, but her post seemed to accurately debunk the list rumor cuz of the Harry Potter consideration, etc. I did not understand the loyalty thing at all. Palin sends four people letters asking for their resignation and calls the letters a "test of loyalty."? So to pass the test, you refuse to resign because you don't mind working under her? Way to build morale! Not. - Laura Norvig
“So Mike Gallagher says that Democratic women will all flock to Sarah Palin. He says she is the ultimate feminist. She not only works, but she drives herself to work.”
