If we can't even all agree on little stuff like global warming, how will we ever be able to get consensus on the big issues like whether FriendFeed use is increasing or decreasing.
Holy Lo-HORD, I have not had fried okra in a long damned time. Too long as the crow flies.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Fried okra is the one thing that will get me into a Church's Friend Chicken.

The Memphis to St. Louis road trip went well... Heading back to Memphis tomorrow. Haven't had time to post about all the wonderful food. But, this vacation is how gout happens I'm convinced.

Spidra, they have good rolls and gravy, too.
- Akiva Moskovitz
This is from Jay's Fried Chicken in Sikeston MO.... unfortunately we came through Sikeston too early that day. Danny's wasn't open yet, so we missed out on their smoked buffalo wing goodness. This was a great substitute though... was absolutely shocked that there were people smoking inside the restaurant. (Having lived in CA and WA for the last 8 years or so... this is culture shock.)

I've just decided that this is what I want written on my tombstone: 'Here lies Akiva. Not pictured... Okra.'

It's Christmas eve, I stopped by the store and bought a 20# turkey (we are going to have 5 people), and I felt in a giving mood so I bought a couple of chai lattes from the in-store starbucks. I bought a roast to make for dinner tomorrow! DELICIOUS TIMES AHOY
Thank you!! I am "celebrating" it sunday when my brother is here I am making a big christmas dinner and having some friends over! :) Merry Christmas to you too Val
- Andrizzle Gizzle
I also bought Phil 2 kinds of ben & jerry's ice cream and a jug of nog, I am such a good wife to him ;P
- Andrizzle Gizzle
That's nice...but nobody asked what you prefer and it's pretty rude to say something like that on a thread when someone is obviously on vacation in Jamaica.
- Alex Scoble

Glad you weren't on the plane crash in Jamaica. Looks fun!
- Robert Scoble
Hey, What do you know. I was in your neck of the woods last week. In the Domenican Republic. Always wanted to get to Jamaica. While you're there, check out the Olympic Bobsled team :)
- Roberto Bonini
Sorry for biting your head off, Jeunelle. Your comment rubbed me the wrong way and I went off. My apologies.
- Alex Scoble
Wow. I own property in Negril, believe it or not. My uncle used to live there and left it to my brother and me. I've been there many times. What hotel are you staying at?
- Dave Winer
Dave, he said the name of the hotel in the comment directly above yours. :)
- Rochelle
Rochelle, oops. I know that place. The locals make fun of the white people running around naked. They disapprove. :-)
- Dave Winer
oh cute! but not on my ginormous hooves.

T - Fluevog goes up to a size 12 in most shoes, but they're a weird size 12. I can comfortably wear a 12 in most other shoes, but not Fluevogs.
- cecily
my friends swear by Fluevogs. You definitely pay for comfort and style. It's kind of worth it if they last a long time. I want Fluevogs!

Looking back on another year, my second Xmas with the Double Fs, I have come to appreciate the power and complete kickassedness of a lot of you here. For me, putting aside one's personal spiritual persuasions, Xmas is about taking stock of the ones you know and the ones you hold dear. This year has been hard for a lot of us. Some of us have battle personal tragedy. Some of us have battled financial stresses. Some of us have battled illness or disease... some continue that battle and you are in our thoughts. The year kicked off in spectacular fashion with the birth of Audrey Moskovitz. I have enjoyed watching her grow and I have also enjoyed watching the growth of Akiva and Rochelle as they experience some of the things those of us with kids have experienced. I have forged strong friendships. I have built on existing ones. I have lost some as well. The fact that I have a wonderful friend in Mr Josh Haley is a true blessing and a gift that lasts longer than one day. He truly is the Yang...

I'm a big believer in karma. If it hadn't been for the love and support of my friends (including many of you here) I wouldn't have made it through this year. Recently things have turned around for me, so I'm "paying it forward" to another friend who has had a rough year.
My friend Barry was on his bicycle when he was hit by a truck a few months back. Luckily he only hurt his ankle, but his bicycle was trashed; his only mode of transportation. I just called and told him that for Christmas this year I'm going to buy him a new bike.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
Aww, thanks all. :D My friends are my family, and it hurts when I can't help them out. Right now I can, so it's the least I could do. I mean damn, the poor guy got hit by a truck! He's got a lawsuit against them but who knows how long that could take, and he needs a bike. After all the good karma I've gotten lately, it's time to pass it along to someone else in need.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
Thank you Mona, happy Holidays to you too!
- Niki Costantini
Niki :) Hope all's well with you and you're enjoying your Christmas :)

Crude MS Paint diagram of what I saw this moron do on a roundabout in front of me on the way to work. The little red arrow shows what they did to make a U-Turn. They went the wrong way. NO IDIOT.
At 9 this morning begins the first week of my little experiment, in which I shall refer to myself as the maid, and clean the house as if it were a job I was being paid for. Probably not doing so in red pumps and a tiny little maid's outfit (although you never know, that could be super hawt), but I might actually don an apron for emphasis.
I was going for the smallest tree available since I hate tree-trimming. This is one of the smallest ones they had. Only slightly smaller than my car.
- Admiral Anika
I made the mistake of leaving Adrian alone with the tree. 10 years of marriage and I figured he'd get that when I say, "finish the garland" that does NOT mean "and add ornaments". LOL Redoing his decor. Yes, I'm a control freak. Why do you ask?
- Admiral Anika
у нас вчера был дождь, реки на дорогах, фе! всю снежную красоту слизало
- Klemka

Smoking a Romeo y Julieta #1 cigar made in Havana, Cuba while drinking a rum and Ting and listening to the waves crashing on the beach? Priceless...Although Tina would not approve with the way the shop here is storing the cigars. I definitely think it was dry and had a bitter finish as a result...I'd give it a 5 out of 10.
Hey, I like lots of things. They're just rarely discussed here. =)
- Admiral Anika
Alex. if you have others that are dry: put the cigars in a container with a wet wash cloth ( don't let them touch) and check periodically. Should only take a few hours.

"Need to get a beer-loving relative a last minute gift? The Samuel Adams Winter Classics Collection ($14-$16) is a fine option, including two bottles each of Samuel Adams Boston Lager, Samuel Adams Winter Lager, Samuel Adams Old Fezziwig Ale, Samuel Adams Holiday Porter, Samuel Adams Cranberry Lambic, and the new Samuel Adams Coastal Wheat in an easy-to-wrap box."

I have had the cranberry, and I really enjoyed it.

Sometimes I really wish I liked beer. I've tried to like it, but just don't.
- Rochelle
I like it much more than I used to, Ro. I'm kicking myself for forgetting to pick some up while I was out. I'm really curious about these holiday ales.
- Derrick
Rochelle, there are so many different types of beer (believe me, I'm the person to know that), that it's easier to find a beer you like than to find a wine you like. It's just that the range of beers that people are able to get to know is so limited. It's availability, that's what I mean.
- Ton Zijp
I picked up a similar case on Monday!
