1. It goes down 1/100th as often as Twitter.
- Robert Scoble
Real conversation... with many participants...
- David Damore
2. It only has 14 employees. One of whom invented Gmail. One of whom ran the Google Talk team. One of whom ran the Google Maps team. One of whom designed a whole bunch of Google stuff.
- Robert Scoble
3. Search here is WAY better than over on Twitter.
- Robert Scoble
4. Far more spam resistant here than Twitter is.
- Robert Scoble
Scoble, just ignore the bots.... they can't do anything to you, ignore them.
- Colin
5. The community is a LOT smarter and much more interesting here.
- Robert Scoble
11. You can argue with Mike Arrington a lot faster here.
- Robert Scoble
Johnny: Comment and start hitting the "Like" link. The rest will just follow naturally.
- Ken Sheppardson
Johnny: we're all figuring that out. First thing? Get all your stuff imported here. Second thing? Do some searches. http://friendfeed.com/ffss is a group that you should subscribe to.
- Robert Scoble
you never ever see the non-answer excuse "X doesn't scale". Next guy who says "won't scale" gets kicked in the dick.
- Matthew DeVries
Fanclerks made a point that he'll never see bots he doesn't follow over on Twitter. Oh, really? I guess he never uses http://search.twitter.com then. Over the weekend that was FULL of spam. Where do you think spam comes from? That's right, bots!
- Robert Scoble
Also, Johnny, you're not subscribed to anybody yet. Robert's a good person to start with. :-)
- Ken Sheppardson
Ok, so i drank the coolaid. What's next, Mr. Scoble? What wonders will you show us? :)
- Dr. Headcrash
Yeah and trend spam has become big lately on Twitter, which is very annoying
- Costa Walcott
Scoble, you have a gravitational effect on the people you communicate with, which is skewing your view of FriendFeed as a service ;) There's a reason you find this place useful, everyone you want to talk to is here, because they followed you here! Me, not so much yet.
- Colin
Colin, I came here alone, and found everything Robert said to be true.
- Matthew DeVries
But, if you don't have any friends/contacts on FF though, it's near impossible to find much value in it. Plus, it's hard to find and connect with conversations outside of your network.
- Mo J
I think Friend Feed needs a new name.. The Stigma of Myspace/facebook? related Tween apps.
- Pogmohoin
Colin seems to have a hardon for Scoble misinformation. He kill your puppy in front of you or something?
- Matthew DeVries
I think it's Colin's first time here
- James Beake
He's currently the only reason I come to and converse on FriendFeed.
- Colin
Sorry my mistage Edit.. mistake even
- James Beake
Colin: friendfeed is working on skinning. When friendfeed gets skins I will make mine even uglier just to keep the bots out. Bots hate ugly design.
- Robert Scoble
Lol, I'm really looking forward to those skins then.
- Colin
oh gotcha, im an idiot, thought it was some FF term, lol
- Mike Cheung
FriendFeed works when other services fail. FriendFeed is the superset, where all social activity flows, and is extremely flexible. FriendFeed lets you hide all the junk and you don't end up following spammers.
- Louis Gray
FriendFeed is the best place to engage with smart people in a smart way and have real conversations that are more than half a sentence long.
- Louis Gray
Revenue is a lagging indicator in tech. I don't see the leading indicators working for them either though (organic traffic growth, etc.). They seem to think it's just a scale problem, but really?
- Daniel Dulitz
I think that post 2005 is when they reinvested in search/ads in order to beat Google. This chart seems to argue that if they had not decided to take on Google head on they might have made a decent business out of it.
- Joe Beda ()
The improving revenue situation from 2001 onward also overlaps the period when development in IE was left to lag and some major competition faded, like that from AOL, and new ones emerged, such as with Firefox. Imagine what might have happened if Microsoft hadn't let up during this period. Now Microsoft is playing catch up in the browser space and is trying to make a claim in search....
