That's one of the nice things about Albuquerque. Being in the desert means that lawns are not necessary. In fact, IIRC the city gives you a tax break for running a xeroscaped lawn (ie rock and pebbles with sparse vegetation). - Steven Perez from IM

I'd say you just pay a neighbor kid a few bucks to do it but those kids are either too expensive or too lazy to do it now a days - Kevin Kuphal
