"Because they aren't supposed to be on the internet! If you see a black person on the internet, please email omgblackpeople@gmail.com IMMEDIATELY. By the way, I'm black too. The site is meant to highlight some of the interesting reactions to the trending topics related to the 2009 BET Awards. Keep the trends going." - Steven Perez from Bookmarklet
wtf? (I get the point of the site. I'm totally perplexed by the tweets) - ellbeecee
................ - Lix
The internet reminds me that I normally live in a bubble of politely sublimated racism, where we may all have racist thoughts from time to time, but we are ashamed of them. When Alex Scoble was talking about FUBU last week I couldn't believe the stuff that came up on a simple Google search for FUBU. - Your Neighbor Steve
Well, this is certainly shaping up to be the week where I need to keep sharp objects and anything that can be used as a missile out of my hands. - vicster
The hell? Just. Wow. - Jandy
Steve, you should see Have Your Say on the BBC site. it's neither polite, nor particularly sublimated... - Pete
I've seen a lot of complaints about trending topics, but that's easily the stupidest. - John (bird whisperer)
Wow... I'm with you with the racist bubble thing, Steve. Sometimes you forget that people like that actually exist anymore. - Mike Cavaliere
Hey if diversity isn't your thing, you shouldn't be on the internet in the first place...what a dink. - Scoble, Alex Scoble
They do have a White Supremacist Internet. It's called CB Radio. - ‘-.-’ Tutivillus Grift
Tutivillus...that was brilliant. I am HOWLING - Cheryl
Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all week. (break) - ‘-.-’ Tutivillus Grift
Racism isn't fun even as a joke (unless it is clearly about racists) - Jemm
One thing I'm curious about: where are the tweeters from? We're assuming they're in the US but maybe they're not. Not saying that racism is OK as long as you live outside the US, just saying that the concept of what is racism might be different outside the US. - FFing Enigma
Alan, I know they exist (I have relatives who prove me wrong every time I fall complacent and think racism is getting better). So many of the user pictures in the images look relatively young - and I know I fall into the bubble of thinking younger people are less likely to act this way. Guess I've been smacked in the face with it again. - ellbeecee
Another situation where "like" should be "share" or some such thing. Everyone should see this ridiculousness, but hard to click like. - Kenton
Tina, his user profile says he lives in upstate New York. As for the "concept of racism" being different elsewhere: vocabulary, maybe - I recently educated my parents on current US terminology - but saying that there are too many [Black people] on [internet service] is racist everywhere I can think of. - Deborah Fitchett
I just don't get this, honestly I don't... Why... - Hollywood Amanda
I think I need to vomit now. :-( - Ladyepiphanybug
I'm in to this late, but Tutivillus' comment is beyond brilliant! :-) - Rene, Pro Button Pusher
@Terence: I can't help but *nod* at your question/statement. - Rene, Pro Button Pusher
