"This infographic makes me so glad that we came up with storage methods other than floppy disks. Imagine replacing your 2TB hard drive with 1,422,222 floppies. No thank you. [Curtiss Spontelli via fellow Gizmodian Kyle. Thanks dude!]"

I kind of wish they were still around. They are more durable and doesn't get scratched like DVD's. If they were still around today, there would probably be 1-2GB disks.

My VIC-20 had a cassette tape drive, too. Of course, back then, the phone on my desk was rotary dialled, weighed about 5 lbs, and you could knock someone out cold with the handset -- if they came within a cord-length. I am such a dinosaur.

The trouble with floppies (aside from size) is that they were so unreliable. I always needed to make multiple copies of anything important because the disks got corrupted so frequently. I haven't had that problem with CDs, thumb drives, or external hard drives.
