The City's new five-year strategy includes plans to improve Portland's startup environment and focus on entrepreneurial districts. However, officials are more interested in taking steps that focus on clean energy and lean manufacturing. That's not as much attention some local entrepreneurs were hoping to receive.

I stand by my criticisms of Webtrends’ approach to this entire campaign. However, despite those feelings, their analysis can be a useful tool for advocates and planners looking for guidance on this issue and it’s always interesting to hear what someone outside the bike bubble thinks about the hot-button issues.
I am amazed by this and firmly believe that I am witnessing history being made right here in front of me. What I am referring to is the movement away from single-source newspapers and a handful of TV channels to a model where I have many sources to choose from.

Here in Portland, we flock in droves to hear stories told by strangers. Why? Perhaps we delight in the uncomfortable-ness of others. Get to escape our own mundane realities. Feel safer for a minute or two from those wilding hipster hordes roaming SE Hawthorne or NW 21st. Who knows…?
