Feb 3, 2010: CHIFOO Meeting: Mobile Agency Life: Leadership in a Quickly Shifting Landscape at University of Oregon White Stag Blocks - http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event...
I’m excited and honored to be a part as my band No Good Jones is closing out the variety show on Saturday from 5:20pm to 6pm PST. If you only have an hour to spare this weekend, be sure to check out the feed at http://30hourday.org/ during that time. :)
Since writing my post, I’ve made firm plans to move to Portland, Oregon come May 2010. After a busy spring of travel and getting married, my new wife and I will pack up in San Francisco and re-settle in the Pacific Northwest’s gem of a city.
If you follow the Portland tech/media scene, there are two things you know intimately: 1) it's an extremely engaged and social and committed group of people and companies, and 2) it has no more ardent exponents that Cami Kaos, hostess of the Strange Love Live videocast, and Rick Turoczy, presiding genius of the Silicon Florist blog.
My advice to content creators is more subtle. Figure out an even more disruptive way to win, or die. Or just give up on making money doing what you do. If you write for passion, not dollars, you’ll still have fun. Even if everything you write is immediately ripped off without attribution, and the search engines don’t give you the attention they used to. You may have to continue your hobby in the evening and get a real job, of course. But everyone has to face reality sometimes.
It's a live streaming telethon, complete with special guests, musical acts, and charity auctions. And in a very web 2.0 twist, 30 Hour Day is encouraging anyone who wants to use the live stream to raise money for their cause of choice.
