"Unless you live in WA state, then there is a sales tax. I think the Target deal seems cool if you have a car or live nearby. If you don't have a car, Prime costs a fraction of the car payments, insurance, maintenance, and gas just to haul crap to and from Target."

"This is what I was going to recommend. If you are camping and the sun hits your tent, you cook. If you hang a cotton bedsheet between your tent and the sun, it absorbs most of the heat energy while simultaneously providing shade. You need to prevent the suns rays from hitting the part of the house that's heating up so much. If there are no trees doing this make some artificial ones by hanging sheets from the gutter to the ground or wherever else you can to shade the house itself."

"Elliot wrote most of his best work while working as a bank teller. He is an inspiration to me in that he proved that the mind is an infinite place, full of sunshine and grace, even when the body is stuck in an entirely finite place, dare I say even a bad place. His writing helped me understand that my most beautiful thoughts of the most inspiring times, are often late at night, in the dark, when I'm by myself. Darkest just before dawn is the saying. You will see many things this year few humans will experience, simply because you are paying attention to them. That is a gift. It is a bitter pill no doubt, but a gift none the less. I hope the best for you on this journey. You can do this, even if your body can't. Thanks for helping me to share this tonight. If you are near Seattle in the next few years, hit me up. Food and wine at the finest restaurant is on me."

"Some good ideas here: http://bucketlist.org/ Also, some of the most beautiful words written, via T.S. Elliot: Men's curiosity searches past and future And clings to that dimension. But to apprehend The point of intersection of the timeless With time, is an occupation for the saint— No occupation either, but something given And taken, in a lifetime's death in love, Ardour and selflessness and self-surrender. For most of us, there is only the unattended Moment, the moment in and out of time, The distraction fit, lost in a shaft of sunlight, The wild thyme unseen, or the winter lightning Or the waterfall, or music heard so deeply That it is not heard at all, but you are the music While the music lasts. http://allspirit.co.uk/salvage... Truer words have never been written. Go to your local music shop, find the best drumset in the place, play the shit out of it. Find the tallest waterfall around, sit under it. Find a reflexology practitioner, have them give you an hour long foot..."

sime0n on I think it's pretty clear Reddit won't vote for Romney and Ryan. Instead of beating a dead horse, why don't we start looking into corrupt politics in the congress, which is where the real power is? - http://www.reddit.com/r...
"A lot of W2'd workers in America don't get overtime wages due to overtime 'exemptions' written into the FLSA. Here's the list: http://www.dol.gov/elaws... At this point I think the question is what industry is *not* on that list. It's expanding, quickly. I created a website to register my discontent: http://uitw.org/ My local rep drafted a bill but ignored the meat of the issue (inflation), and said that while he would draft the bill, he's a corporate lawyer and would not necessarily vote for it, then assured me Microsoft would push this legislation so far into the earth that it's futile to try, but he'd humor me nonetheless. At least he took my call, none of my federal representatives will talk to me about FLSA exemptions. Trickle down economics does not work. If Reddit wants a target with a bright red bullseye, this is it. FLSA exemptions primarily affect the working poor, are expanding, and have cost untold millions in lost overtime wages, all in the name of..."

"So so true. I feel fortunate my own business doesn't require loads of capital up front. I can't get over the fact that my brother, who has been working his ass off for years and will, despite the lack of help from the banks, have a thriving business in due time. He would be profitable by the end of the year if he could get loans for more equipment. He's got excellent credit. No matter. I personally will never forget how we've been treated and will use Credit Unions and Community Banks for the rest of my days. Though I'm keeping an eye on these guys as well: https://banksimple.com/ Looks like a good service, can't wait for the Big Banks to get some real competition. *That* would be justice."

Some readers may recall that back during the Democratic primary Barack Obama shocked many progressives by praising Ronald Reagan as someone who brought America a “sense of dynamism and entrepreneurship that had been missing.” I was among those who...

No matter how much the White House talks about “tough” new financial regulatory reforms, the Obama administration seems not to have a prosecutorial gene.
