Similiar to my views. The penetration of the kurzweilian interpretation of "singularity" into the mainstream will it make difficult for serious thinking people to digg deeper. And for what purpose!? Scientist will do their science, AI people will build AI, Intel will build chips... Nothing will be stopped by not talking about a technological singularity...

So to speak: futuristic concepts have their own Gardner Hype Cycle and if you dont want to go blind, you have to recognize the moment where they are jumping the shark. The imaginative space of "future" is always forking and fraktal-ing.

So, given that 'Singularity' is likely doomed as a meaningful label, I think we'll probably end up with a new term like 'Ubiquitous (or perhaps Universal) Intelligence (or Cognition)' or something similar. Or perhaps we'll end up with a suite of terms that describe different aspects/technologies.
