slayerboy on Build your own cloud... - http://www.reddit.com/r...
"Not what I thought it was. I was expecting steps on how to build something like dropbox or ubuntu one, only on a "private" server (either in-home or at another location). That's the ideal way to setup a cloud, this way you have full control. EyeOS seems good for accessing applications, but generally netbooks would have these applications, and EyeOS isn't really logical for something like an Android device. Neat idea, but kind of a misleading title IMHO." - Ⓐ ☠ slayerboy ☠ Ⓐ

I'm not willing to try it completely on my rock-solid desktop with ubuntu 9.10 (well as solid as it can be anyways with almost no issues after the dust has settled for the last month). I would assume this would work for a Lenovo S10e without much of a hassle besides some of the extra function keys on the keyboard. Maybe I'll try it out this weekend." - Ⓐ ☠ slayerboy ☠ Ⓐ

I have another confession: I still cannot get out of the habit of using Google Reader over feedly, even though feedly has been available in Chrome for several weeks.
I just find GReader quicker due to th way I've set up folders in it. - Kol Tregaskes
I only read parts of my feeds/folders now (as I just don't have the time to read all of it) and find GReader itself much easier to navigate around. - Kol Tregaskes
Someone entice me to use feedly over GReader. :-) - Kol Tregaskes
not gonna be me ;) - Kim
Hehe, Kim. :-) - Kol Tregaskes
Ain't gonna be me either. The folders in GR help greatly because the content of some folders can be skimmed in list view since several feeds have duplicates in them. I tried feedly but soon turned back to GR. - Polly Potter
What I really like about feedly is that I feel a lot less "unread guilt". The item count is in an easily-ignorable light grey, and a single click marks everything read. - invariant - farewell FF
@kol: a lot of existing Google Reader users prefer the GR UI because of the ability to scan articles, feeds and folders quickly. A few leverage the live sync and use both (scan the digest and finish the heavy reading in Google Reader). Others are looking for a slower, more fun experience and prefer the feedly magazine-like UI. People who are new to RSS are often in that third category and those are the people we are going after. - Edwin Khodabakchian
I prefer GR over feedly more now too....Feedly was killing Firefox for me - Ⓐ ☠ slayerboy ☠ Ⓐ

slayerboy on HP Printers are racist - it cost more to print black faces than white faces! - http://www.reddit.com/r...
"You're serious aren't you? Obviously darker images are going to cost more to print than lighter images no matter WHAT printer you buy. As a side note, the color ink to print black text is to get you to spend more on ink. Unless you are doing photographs, a color printer is horribly expensive to operate compared to a regular old laser printer. The older printers used to allow you to run without the color cartridge installed, not sure if that is still the case today as I haven't been in the retail field for a few years now. Stop being so sensative about crap and realize that it's more about them making money than it is racism. That is, until you discover that it's really just Prism. https://wiki.mozilla.org/Prism Not impressed with this. It clutters up the menus bad quickly. I get what they're trying to do. I prefer to use web applications in my browser with all my addons protecting me (WoT, NoScript or AdBlock Plus, Shareaholic, etc). Prism doesn't move these extensions over to the new "instance" of the browser. Maybe it's an issue I have with Prism instead of Jolicloud, I'm just not really liking it. "As am I. I had nVidia for a LONG time in my systems. I had ok luck with the cards because they were generally older cards that had support. I bought an ATI HD 4870, which was the first card to support Linux out of the box supposedly. I had no trouble getting it setup in Ubuntu. Granted, I just have my lowly 24" LCD monitor. The open source ATI drivers left a lot to be desired. Granted, so does flgrx driver, but it works. Between the improvements ATI has made and the vast improvements WINE has made, World of Warcraft runs smooth with everything set at max most of the time. Yes, I suck for playing WoW. Whatever, it makes me happy as a casual gamer with limited free-time." - Ⓐ ☠ slayerboy ☠ Ⓐ

"ok, but in a neighborhood of 90 year olds and trees...I don't really think I need to worry much about that. There's no such thing as safe networking. The only safe network is an unplugged one behind a break wall where even sneakernet can't get to. If someone wants to go through the time of findg my unbroadcested SSID, cracking WEP/WPA, spoofing a MAC address, and possibly trying to crack my router password....well.....fine, whatever. In order to get to anything on my computers, they'd have to crack Linux. "http://www.medibuntu.org/ http://www.pidgin.im/downloa... https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu... Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 is both awesome and horrible at the same time. They switched from Pidgin to Empathy for IM. Empathy....leaves a lot to be desired. Sound system is quirky, but FAR better than 9.04 was. Medibuntu gives you access to a lot of stuff like dvd playback and other stuff. Wine PPA will give you access to the latest and greatest WINE. Of course that could be problematic at times, but I've never had much of an issue. I haven't used Steam for a while, but it was working fine under 9.04, so there shouldn't be any issues. WoW works pretty much flawlessly with the latest WINE and the ATI graphics drivers from the official ubuntu repos. As far as music libraries, as long as you don't have a huge library you could use pretty much anything (Banshee or Amarok are popular, as well as Rhythmbox). I've a an absolutely insane library of music and videos, and Banshee crawls. I..." - Ⓐ ☠ slayerboy ☠ Ⓐ

"Since at least 2000, a meme known as "200X will be the year of Linux on the desktop" or "year of the Linux desktop" (YoLD) has been published by a number of tech-related magazines and websites. This refers to an expected breakthrough in Linux adoption by business corporations and personal users. The reasons for these forecast gains include the installation of a Linux distribution on the desktops of workers for organizations or companies who may not be immediately or otherwise involved in the computing industry, or the acceleration of development for specific applications which find their greatest use on desktop Linux distributions.
