Louis Gray
Compete reports FriendFeed traffic now is below last year's numbers. Down 21% month over month as well.

I'm still here damnit! - Glenn Slaven
Not me! I left a long time ago! (p.s., I can quit whenever I want) - Louis Gray
The lightweights left. Good riddance. - Spidra Webster
Figures. FF may have jumped the shark when it sold out to Facebook. But at least we diehards continue to stick around... - Dennis Jernberg
my feed is jumping more than ever. something in those stats must be broken or skewed. - Joe Silence is not dead
"... this is when we opened the real time beta and when the beta rolled out to the main site... oh and this is when we announced the Facebook aquisition..." - KyleHase
Everyone's experience is different, Joe. I believe, in aggregate, that these numbers are correct. That doesn't impact my own behavior, of course. - Louis Gray
I've been getting a rather healthy influx of new subscribers. - Mark Davidson
Yes but I think the quality of information here is much better. The people that left were producing noise. Thank god Scoble took them with him.. - CW™
definitely less noise - holly
ff's dying:( - Igor Poltavskiy
Compete or Complete? just wondering? - Bill Heslin
not so Igor - Mitch
Compete.com is Incomplete, Bill. :) - Louis Gray
it's not dying, Igor, it's just losing the "flavour of the month" people who like to talk to the mirror. - Joe Silence is not dead
lol...ty Louis...after I typed it I said ....Ooooh god...I'm an ass...no one needs to agree... - Bill Heslin
I've been hit with a bunch of new followers lately. I'm still doing the same ole thing, I think. Plus, I found the librarians (or maybe they found me?). - Derrick
@Derrick: in the end, The Librarians find us all! - Joe Silence is not dead
well, that's not entirely true. - Joe Silence is not dead
I've still got around my librarian at my U...it's a catholic u...I thank my spiritual friends...lmao - Bill Heslin
Derrick - it was a mutual thing :) - holly
Well, FF is probably the best of the last round of linear conversation and aggregation tools, largely thanks to the lack of overhead and fluff (the users contribute plenty). Whether you use it in a bare-bones, flat way -- or have mastered an elaborate orchestration of API hooks and fiddlizations -- there is plenty of value to be had in the way FF handles its business and lets the user handle theirs. - ɐ ɯıʞ sıɹɥɔ
This matches my observations as well and is a major reason why I've spent less time here. Chris: the problem is that most people tell me that Facebook has enough conversations for them. One of Zuckerberg's items a week ago had many thousands of comments. - Robert Scoble
That still doesn't mean anything for me - it's still a very productive tool. I'm at an advantage by using it. - Jesse Stay
I'm still here on FF too! - imabonehead
quantity != quality - holly
Compete is about as wrong as Alexa was in the old days. Seriously, I have numerous benchmarks where I *know* the traffic and Compete is often off by serious margins. Instead, I'd use Quantcast which shows a major drop off in September, but with the bottom falling out the numbers have started to trend back up again. http://www.quantcast.com/friendf... - AJ Kohn
I agree only Quantcast is accurate-ish. - Thomas Power
@Thomas: Yes, I'm not saying Quantcast is always right, but it's usually more right than the others. - AJ Kohn
Alexa is a relative measure it's relatively right http://www.alexa.com/siteinf... the top sites look right-ish to me http://www.alexa.com/topsites when compared to Quantcast http://www.quantcast.com/top-sit... - Thomas Power
Thomas, that looks pretty up and to the right to me, in a long-term sense. It's fun to look at the short-term, but we're seeing no sense on a long-term scale of FriendFeed losing traffic. Great point on the Alexa and Quantcast (assuming we even need traffic graphs to keep us on here) - Jesse Stay
Thx J x - Thomas Power
@Robert, I'll never argue that Facebook isn't more popular. All the cute that it offers (which isn't nearly as bad as it could be) seems to make it approachable enough to a much wider audience than a tool like FF. I get that you can filter out the fluff and minimize the Facebookishness of it, but then you're stuck with their interface and color scheme (unless I'm missing something). I guess I really see them as being different corners at the same party. - ɐ ɯıʞ sıɹɥɔ
whatever it is.friendfeed still has it's unique user group's. i am happy to be here - İbrahim Ot
I see more interaction on my items now than in the pre-Facebook days, but I may be an outlier. - John (a.k.a. dendroica) from iPod
Well, I don't care what the numbers say. I get much more out of Friendfeed (in terms of discovery, engagement *and* enjoyment) than I ever have from Facebook - and I should point out that, with 2 or 3 exceptions, I've met everyone on my Facebook friends list.. Friendfeed demonstrates that it doesn't require a cast of 350 million to make a great community. - Andrew Terry
hear hear Andrew - Thomas Power
looks like FriendFeed was the first to be kicked by Facebook changes.. wich is not so bad since the service belongs to - Frédérick 2 Baro from Yoono
Somehow I feel the Compete state are not correct! - Sampad Swain
I'm not going anywhere! - Jason Hill
To get a good experience, friendfeed has always required you to put in a lot of time. So many active users comment on a thread and Hide it when they no longer have anything to say, if you come by a few hours later to comment you're just talking to a wall. friendfeed has never been very rewarding for casual use, in my experience, and that is doubly true now. - DGentry
You can't argue with Metrics, but my own feed is very active - RAPatton from iPhone
What RAP says. I don't think this could ever be determined, but I wonder if certain language groups have dropped off their use while other language groups have maintained? - Rochelle
You can Hide Stories? Really? Well, damn, so you can. - Jason Hill
*yikes* that explains the lethargic Home Feed; less users = less interaction/activity = the lethargic(boring) feed - sofarsoShawn
I check FF as much as I ever did (though I should prolly post more) - Iain Baker
*quoting mode on* Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. -- Albert Einstein. - Citronella
Do not like ... - Charlie Anzman
not a good news - Ted GUO
Traffic Statistics: fascinating if you like numbers; otherwise it's just classic ePenis-waving, pointing, and gloating, and not really important if you're happy. - Mark H
Without ads, how does friendfeed pay for itself? - T. Brent, technopeasant
That's a shame seeing as FF is better than all the other social sites. I'll continue to use it until I can't. - Araceli
All you frowny faces need to go read through the thread - FriendFeed's just fine - up and to the right even. I'm not sure why Louis felt the need to post this. See this thread, much more accurate: http://friendfeed.com/jessest... - Jesse Stay
Note that November was the month Scoble announced publicly he was leaving Friendfeed (FTMP) - Jesse Stay
T. Brent, FriendFeed doesn't need to make money (although I'm sure they will) - they're owned by Facebook, which is already profitable and cash-flow positive - Jesse Stay
Yet, keep in mind FriendFeed is part of Google's deal for real-time content :-) I bet there was money there. - Jesse Stay
Thx, Jesse. - T. Brent, technopeasant
"Q: Why doesn’t Compete’s estimate of site visitors match my local analytics (e.g. Google Analytics, Omniture)? ... A: ... Compete measures only US activity." -- http://www.compete.com/resourc..., while the Alexa chart Jesse posted in his thread showing up-and-to-the-right growth reflects global activity. There's no real disconnect between the two charts. Which one you think matters more probably depends on what argument you're trying to support. - Ken Sheppardson
What's friendfeed? - veo
Ken, exactly - Jesse Stay
veo: the matrix. you're in it. you just don't know it. - Itachi
Interesting. I was just thinking that FF has started to die. The activity amongst my friends and friends of friends has decreased considerably in recent weeks. - Jason Toney
oh that's not cool wonder what's going on!!! - See-ming Lee 李思明 SML
still here - Mike Nencetti
successful exists do not always equal successful products once acquisiiton is complete. - susan mernit
...still here. Still like it. Still find it useful on many levels. The thing about FF is that even at its peak, its traffic and usage wasn't even in the same league as Facebook, Twitter, or even MySpace in steep decline. The raw user numbers never (or should I say, optimistically, haven't) reached any kind of critical mass. Outside of the early-adopter and sophisticated info junkie/informavore crowds, Friendfeed, just isn't that relevant. - .LAG liked that
Quoting Jeniffer Aniston: This is so uncool. :-( - Olivia Lovag
why I should trust only compete's data? where is guarantee they are not biased due to some unknown reason? now if you would go to e.g. quantcast for another opinion http://www.quantcast.com/friendf... and switch between 3m, 6m, 1yr and "all"... do you see difference? yes, I know quantcast doesn't have access to data, only estimate, yet... Ok, let's try alexa.com http://www.alexa.com/siteinf... - and they also show compeletly different trend... so, WHY we should trust compete's graphs? - A.T.
A.T., be sure to also see my article here that agrees with you: http://staynalive.com/article... - Jesse Stay
How many people here use FF for work / project dev - or do you use it for just link sharing with friends? - zeroinfluencer
@zeroinfluencer I use it for conversations, along shared links and not necessarily bound for them. I can't discuss my work in public at all, apart from very generic details, hence question about using it for work/project _is_ irrelevant for me. But rest is just goes here - twitter is very far behind friendfeed for me. And facebook complements friendfeed pushing it even further. - A.T.
zerioinfluencer I use it for both - Jesse Stay
@AT @Jessy - I use FF a lot for project dev with distributed teams - the mix of chat and sharing in private groups has proved amazing. Even team members who have never used FF before have been going "wow" why the hell haven't we used this before? - zeroinfluencer
To my point - FF has not really been presented as more than a Twitter style app - it's far more than that IMHO. It's a swiss army knife for the web. - zeroinfluencer
I am new so this read well. I am one of those - why the hell wasn't I here before now. I used to Icq a LONG time ago. Then did nothing for a while. Joined a fan site - LonghornNation.com and met tons of people that many are still very important friends to me - I blogged, read and interacted on forums, met tons of people at real life events. Then that site was shut down and some moved to... more... - Paulette Garcia Morris
@zeroinfluencer I use it for both too - .LAG liked that
I'm still in love with FF as my web swiss army knife too. What should we move to when it disappear? What about Feedoor? - Opensource Obscure

Going forward, I'm going to try to rotate the best of day a little bit if the same people keep coming to the top. I'll still note the top people, but I'll try to draw things from more feeds. So far, Derrick and Johnny have just been really awesome for the past few days! - Kamilah Gill
very nice - Lindsey is Fierce!
Oh wow! I'm honored, Kamilah! - Derrick
I can totally see why an advanced photography professor singled Derrick's photos out. The colors and compositions are excellent. They also really succeed at conveying emotion. I wanted to paint them, not just sketch them in pencil. - Kamilah Gill

Paul, will you respond to this? This is *bad* for FF users. Best case: it continues on, but distracted by Facebook and with stagnated feature development. Worst case: it's gone. Middle of the road: Facebook forces its ads into the timeline and friendfeed starts acting like Facebook by ignoring its users. - tollie williams
@tollie, I imagine Paul's ability to respond is now constrained, which is just one of the changes we'll see coming. There's new management in town, folks. - Ken Kennedy

"And yet at the end of the day—literally during a five o’clock counseling appointment, as the golden late-afternoon sunlight spilled over the wall of Balinese masks—when given the final choice by our longtime family therapist, who stands in as our shaman, mother, or priest, I realized … no. Heart-shattering as this moment was—a gravestone sunk down on two decades of history—I would not be able to replace the romantic memory of my fellow transgressor with the more suitable image of my husband, which is what it would take in modern-therapy terms to knit our family’s domestic construct back together." - susan mernit

Well, I guess that's what they make the Hide button for. - CAJ, somewhere else
Go ahead, pussy (referring to the avatar!) :) - Michael Forian
Not dying in a horrific plane crash > Pulitzer. - joey
I hope it is from LOST or some other production. Otherwise, it's a very sad situation that I would rather not have to look at. - Michael Fidler
You think it would be great if someone took photos before they died in a plane crash? - Derrick
No, not great, amazing! What a hero! He was able to maintain his cool throughout the whole ordeal and snap a few shots! Hopefully the person was an actual photographer, so at least he could die while performing his true passion! - Michael Forian
Michael Fidler, you don't have to "hope it is from LOST or some other production". It *IS* from Lost. Case closed. - Rochelle
I think that's the saddest thing I've heard in a really long time, and you said great, I was quoting you. - Derrick
Rochelle, I never said that I "hope it is from LOST or some other production"... so? - Michael Forian
Michael Forian, that's why I said "Michael Fidler" at the beginning of my comment. - Rochelle
I did Michael. - Michael Fidler
Oh! It only says "Michael,". - Michael Forian
Sorry, Michael. - Michael Forian
I saw your tweet and I wanted to see what you were sharing. Honestly, this was the last thing I expected to see, so it was a little shocking. Don't worry about it! - Michael Fidler
Thanks ;) I'm just saying that it would have been really cool if someone were to have taken a picture or two before dying. Would have been historical! Don't get me wrong, if I had the choice between the pictures and a life, I wouldn't be a greedy bastard and take the photos. If the person knew they were inevitably going to plummet into the ocean to their death, this could have been their way of letting us know what happened. - Michael Forian
Sigh. - Derrick
*vomit* - Caroline
LAME. - Internet's Tad
How old are you? - Trish R
Ok, so it's not just me? - Derrick
I don't think age really matters here. My opinion may vary from yours. So be it. - Michael Forian
btw, Derrick, yes, I knew you were quoting me. I reevaluated it's measurement. It's amazing. - Michael Forian
I think it's disgusting. - Derrick
Again, opinions will vary. I think that it would have been passionate (IF this did happen to be real). - Michael Forian
I clicked over to your blog and see that you're 14. I think you should show this post to your mother. - Trish R
Derrick - right there with you. - Katy S
15 now, Trish, my mom already saw this, you going to target her know for bringing up so such a horrible child? - Michael Forian
umm...this really blows goats. delete this shit, please. - Joe Silence is not dead
I have a fascination with death, and even I think it's more than a little disgusting and macabre to like the idea of pictures taken of people dying in a tragic accident. - Katy S
I'm not targeting your mother. I just think you're immature and trying to get attention in a very negative way. - Trish R
And I like memento mori! - Katy S
Trish, the more people comment on this, the more attention it will get. I have limited control over that. - Michael Forian
Trish R - I was thinking the same thing, especially in terms of what we now know about adolescent brain development. - Katy S
I don't think you're a horrible child, Michael, I'm sure your mother is an amazing mother; that's a job you can't train for and one I don't envy. Although speaking for myself and not for Trish, I think that human life is valuable and important. Snapping a photograph mere moments before one's death in such a tragic and powerless way just speaks of disrespect. - Derrick
Michael, have we learned anything from this? - Brent - Loving Life
Who are you? - Michael Forian
I appreciate that, Derrick. She is amazing! I understand your perspective of the situation a little better! The fact is: I would never trade someone's life for a picture of their death. That's disgusting. No matter the situation. - Michael Forian
Michael, just because you can, doesn't mean you should. - Brent - Loving Life
That's fucked up - Rodfather
1UP Rod. - Derrick
Michael Forian, wrong! You have full control over this, because if you delete this thread it will be gone. I don't think the people who have commented here will mind that their comments, along with this sick farce, will disappear. - Sharon McPherson
My mother's right beside me: she said "that I'd take a picture too... It would be the last remnants of your life". - Michael Forian
"have we learned anything from this?" I love how you talk down to him there. Real nice. - Terry O'Fee
Terry, I know! Isn't that demoralizing? - Michael Forian
And If he doesn't learn from this what other lovely stuff will he post in the future? - Brent - Loving Life
LOST scene. Bad joke btw! - dstamand
He posted a dodgy hoax which he didnt know about until afterwards. If you don't like it, unfollow... - Terry O'Fee
Oh, crap! TERRY! Everyone's going to unsub me now!!!! :P - Michael Forian
This surprises you? Forian has dressed up as a "terrorist" and made videos on Seesmic lol! - Mona Nomura
Does anyone remember someone after on 9/11 finding an intact memory card in the ruins, and it worked perfectly? the hours and days of someones life.. I think it was on LJ - Terry O'Fee
LOLOLOLOL! MONA! *looks for video URL* ! - Michael Forian
Terrorists love The Spice Girls :P - Terry O'Fee
Yeah, Mona, that's hilarious. Fake terrorist videos are *SO* funny. - Trish R
I never said it was, Trish. :) - Mona Nomura
For those who wish to see my terrorist video making skillz... http://seesmic.com/videos... - Michael Forian
Either way, how very sad for the people and their families - Armando & Cindee Edrosa
a durka durka - Terry O'Fee
It is. My deepest condolences to the families of the victims of any plane related disaster. Be it the Air France situation or any other. - Michael Forian
Not sad, it's disgusting how those who lost a loved one on this flight might be exposed to this kind of garbage. It's people who make crap like this news and those who digest it as 'news' that's deteriorating the quality of media. Makes me sick to my stomach. Btw, I keep hiding this but it keeps reappearing. Why. - Mona Nomura
Guys, I don't think Michael knew any better. I don't think he intended to create THIS big of a deal. - Internet's Tad
Hmm, seems like Tad and Terry are the only ones to have come to this realization. - Michael Forian
Michael, if you'd like my unsolicited advice I'd suggest you delete this, and then post again and apologize. I know you weren't being mean or bad on purpose, but keeping this around makes a lot of people think that. - Internet's Tad
Mike you really know how to stir up a crowd. lol it's messed up but the reactions are funny. Or I'm a sick minded individual... - Michael Marsalisi
Michael, I don't know?!?!? Maybe you should run now while you can still get away! - Michael Forian
Eh, I'd rather stick around and see what happens - Michael Marsalisi
Wait, Michael KNEW this was a hoax, and still posted it any way? LAME. Why not just RickRoll us? - Matthew DeVries
Why does he need to apologize, Tad? He's not sorry at all - like I said, this is a kid who dresses up as a 'terrorist' and posts videos on Seesmic. Don't like him, block him. - Mona Nomura
Matthew, for the last time, I DIDN'T KNOW! - Michael Forian
I didn't realize that Mona. :( - Internet's Tad
Holy cow. - Michael Forian
If Mike posted the original blog post, it would be a bit different. It's a sad state of affairs, people take things on here waay too seriously... Goddamn! - Terry O'Fee
I will be making a Seesmic video concerning this post shortly. - Michael Forian
that's it! I've had it...I too will one day make a seesmic post about your seesmic post or a subsequent post of something. Oh. the outrage. ; ) - Michael Marsalisi
I guess it's still the internet *sigh* Old jokes are old - Matthew DeVries
Maybe I'm a sick person, but I wish these were real. I would have liked to have seen something from the last moments of the flight. - Mathew™ one of a kind
What strikes me about this is it's only a matter of time. - Denise Howell
Ugh. What a disgusting notion. Hopefully the demand won't be there to supply it. Seriously this post and thread has ruined my night. - Mona Nomura
A DURKA DURKA!!! - Terry O'Fee
Good call Sharon, they can also go to /b/ or they can go to 1997 when this was a new idea. - Matthew DeVries
LOST crash scene video http://www.youtube.com/watch... skip @ 0:50 - dstamand
this is a hoax. - susan mernit
cool, a thread to hide and TWO new accounts to block! - Joe Silence is not dead
I just read this whole thread. Can I have those 3 minutes of my life back now, please? - Rochelle
If you look carefully, you can see Kate on the left handside (or her stunt double) and the injured sherrif that dies half way through season 1 - Terry O'Fee from BuddyFeed
Seesmic video concerning this post: http://friendfeed.com/forian... - Michael Forian
oh, i think im being blocked by refd because of my comments heh. - Terry O'Fee
Terry - it could totally be because of something else besides your comments, don't go jumping to conclusions - not cool. Think, did you kill his dog, or sleep with his wife? It could just as easily be because of that. - Matthew DeVries
Meh, 5/10 (I've had better). - Michael Forian
Haha! I wonder which thread got a worse reaction? This or: http://friendfeed.com/forian... - Michael Forian
I mean all I said I believe the reactions to this thread were over the top, if you have a real beef with this, send the hate mail to the idiot who made the blog post. - Terry O'Fee from BuddyFeed
Stupid buttons on iPhone app - Terry O'Fee from BuddyFeed
Terry, if you look at the original blog post, the last few comments aren't very nice... probably did get a few death threats! - Michael Forian
Michael - I realize that you didn't know it was a hoax when you posted it. That's fine. I just disagree - as a matter of taste and as an issue related to my own sense of ethics - with the idea that pictures of people dying would be great. We differ on that. That is all. I do wonder if you will feel the same way when you are older, but we can't know that until that time. - Katy S
Michael, may I ask a question: By 'great', do you mean noble and courageous? Do you mean in the face of certain death, you continue to shoot so you may record the last moments and maintain a record of the events so that others may know what happened? - Johnny Worthington
I'd want to give my last moments some meaning, and I'd want to auto-post to FF so I'd get hundreds of likes. :-) - Kevin Fox
Johnny, you said it much better than I could have. Yes, that's exactly what I meant. Am I a monster for that? - Michael Forian
Michael - I think it came across to many people as if you thought it would be cool to do or something like that and that you would take pleasure in viewing images of people dying in a photographic snuff film, of sorts. I suspect some (myself included) read it as being more flip than you meant it to be. I'm just guessing, but that's what I suspect happened. - Katy S
You made a very correct guess, Katy. I appreciate it. - Michael Forian
OMG! A Bolivian News Agency did the same thing as me! Look here! LOL! http://www.youtube.com/watch... - Michael Forian

Tamar Weinberg
Wow. So I can't be online Saturday morning at midnight to score my Facebook username given that I observe the Jewish Sabbath (I'm never online then). I had a friend "volunteer" to get it for me. Only after 12 email exchanges does he tell me that he has an hourly rate and that I'd be charged 2 hour minimum. This is a "friend." I have no words.
Apparently, he is unclear on the concept. - Kevin Pedraja
Wow. That is awful. - Michelle Martinez
...wow, now that is some friend! :( - JA Castillo
Tamar, I'll do it for free. Seriously. - Louis Gray
Why did he "volunteer," then? That's not what I'd call volunteering, either. - Trish R
what a douche. - Scott
sorry, my bad what a "douche"! - Scott
That's nasty! I'd do it for free too but I'm not able to be online Saturday midnight either. - Jim Hearts FF
Tamar - was he a fellow clansperson? I assume not! - Lester Greenberg
Lester, alas, he was. And he knows all about the laws. - Tamar Weinberg
Tamar - I will do it for you for 2 metrocards - Allen Stern
Huh? Why even say he would? - WorldofHiglet
Shabbos goy don't come cheap. :P - Christopher Harley
Technically, we're not even allowed to hire goyim to do our work on Shabbat for us. But, also, you are allowed to do work if it will very negatively affect your livelihood. - Akiva Moskovitz
but a friend (of whatever or no religion) would not normally charge someone to do what will be a straightforward task - I don't understand why he would do that. - WorldofHiglet
Tamar don't roll on Shabbos. - Rochelle
What Akiva said. And you're definitely not supposed to make a "profit" on Shabbat either. He was planning on having a colleague of his (not Jewish) do it, which would put me in the clear. But to charge me for that? C'mon. - Tamar Weinberg
what the...? :| sorry, tamar. - edythe
+1 Louis. I would do it as well for free. I know I'll be online whenever that is, since that is not work to me - guruvan (Rob Nelson) from PeopleBrowsr
He should've done it for free or let you know upfront that he'd be glad to do it for $. :( It's to bad he wasn't upfront about it. - James Stratford
Louis beat me to it. - Josh Haley
Thanks all for offering -- I'm trying to figure out what to do. - Tamar Weinberg
Does he have a dick? Kick him in it. Also, you have 200 friends here who'll do it for you. You must trust at least 1 of us. - Matthew DeVries
"friend" is putting it mildly...I'll be online to get my username, as I'm not Jewish. If Louis isn't available, I'll do it. . - Helen Sventitsky
With friends like this! LOL! - Jorge Escobar
You guys rock. - Tamar Weinberg
So is the idea that we're going to be trying to grab shit like facebook.com/MichaelJordan and facebook.com/Madonna so we can extort the real Slim Shadys? - Matthew DeVries
Tamar, I'll write a bot for free that'll do it for you! ;) (kidding) - Jorge Escobar
Jorge, write it for free for me. Sell it for everyone else. PROFIT! - Tamar Weinberg
Priceless! :D - Jorge Escobar
With friends like that.....sad. - susan mernit
M.A. on the other hand would have done a T.C. post on how Facebook recruited his "friend" to do this, in a plot to prevent him from getting said username, or to steal T.C. pageviews. - Richard ¿digame? Walker
Funny :) - Charlie Anzman
Oy vey. What a jerk. - Ben Greenberg
Shmendrik. - Rick Cogley
What are the Yiddish and Hebrew words for asshole? - Matthew DeVries
I'll do it for free!! what a jerk! email me - susan.beebe@gmail.com - Susan Beebe
I'd have happily have offered to do it for free also, some friend that sounds. I am in the UK however so I guess it will be early hours of the morning when we can choose a username. - Geoff Jackson

just bought a series of cloth sacks from ecobags.com/ to use for nuts, fruit, etc. Want to get away from plastic.
Thanks for that link. Those are some awesome bags. My problem with a lot of the cloth bags is that they are far too small. These seem great! - Justin Flood @justinflood
Yes, I want to use them to buy small items, like rice or nuts, at the store..I need to quit plastic as much as possible. - susan mernit

Open forum: Journalism students lead way - http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin...
As the only school of journalism in the University of California system, we feel an especially compelling duty to serve the public interest at a time of crisis in local journalism around the state. We are starting collaborations with the Haas School of Business and School of Information to further innovations in this field. We are seeking funding to re-train established journalists in the digital skills and new ways of thinking they need to better position themselves for professional futures. We want to partner with other local sites run by people similarly committed to covering Bay Area communities. We envision legions of small businesses and other potential advertisers in the Bay Area finding tremendous new audiences through these ties. We are filled with excitement and purpose, fueled by the idealism and dedication of young students who increasingly are showing the way. - susan mernit
