The Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art is located on the south bank of the River Tyne alongside the Gateshead Millennium Bridge. BALTIC opened on Saturday 13 July 2002 and welcomed 2.5 million visitors during its first 5 years alone. Construction began in 1998 with only the south and north facades of the original 1950's building retained. A new structure consisting of six main floors was secured between the walls. This is the main stairwell connecting the floors made up for 203 steps. The building now contains four galleries, a flexible performance space, artists' studios, a lecture theatre and the spectacular rooftop restaurant.

Another Photo from a Newcastle Photo Walk. This is one of the walkways that steps down under the dual carriageway that surrounds 55 Degrees North in the centre of Newcastle. I have been reliable informed that although its called 55 degrees North it is not actually at 55 Degrees North.

Enough of history and culture, it's time for a bit of daftness. I was out this morning with some of the Flickr photo walk people, and Phil just can't resist climbing anywhere that might be dangerous - although it would have been my neck he broke falling from there! Anyway, I just liked the strong contrast and angular lines in this. Taken from the 55 North underpass between Metro Radio and the Holy Jesus Hospital on City Road.

You know what its like, you see the same pair of trainings day in day out then as soon as one of your friends buy a pair; you want some. Well after looking at and real worlds friends and now flickr friend Andy Turner photos recently I decided it was time to buy a pair. I've tried taking a self-portrait shots before however has spend so much time being critical about how I look in the shot I haven't used many. I normally find myself trying to pose like some kind of model. The only issue being; some kind of model I am not. The idea of this close shot "stolen" from Andy; however I actually think works. Please let me know what you think.

I didn't take my camera but I was sure that I have some pictures still waiting to be at looked from the last time I went to Liverpool in October last year. I found this shot of the Liver Building taken from the Mersey Ferry. Probably the most photographed and well known building in Liverpool. It is located at Pier Head and stands proud and majestic against the skyline of Liverpool and the riverfront. The building is made of reinforced concrete and was the first large scale building of its type. It was built in 1911 for the Royal Liver Friendly Society. This impressive architectural masterpiece features a pair of clock towers from which shipping could tell the time as they passed en route along the river. The clock faces are actually larger than the clock face of Big Ben in London. In fact, they are the largest clock dials in Britain. In 1953 electronic chimes were installed to serve as a memorial to...
