SnapMyInfo

A room for describing the first project of TenZeroLab. Thoughts, opinions, issues, bugs.

Feedback, is there a desire for general QR interface? Still see people emailing non snapmyinfo QR codes in.

Trying to decide if it's worth it to build a gen purpose QRcode decoder. Seen lots of non http://snapmyinfo.com codes in the system.
Encoder and decoder. Seems like it's still early adopters who want to play, and they want general QR code encoding / decoding. - mikepk
Would be easy enough, I was trying to narrow it down to be domain specific to make it easier to describe. - mikepk

Eventually there shouldn't be any targets, just walk up and flash the code. As a proof of concpet though, I may bring this setup to some networking events (with the stationary targets). - mikepk from Bookmarklet
I'll also likely add some text data appearing on the screen. - mikepk
Also to capture I had to scale the resolution down, at higher res the decode works at farther distances from camera. - mikepk
I like the idea of two people sharing their contact info this way, and both getting a photo snapshot of the moment. That way they have more context on the connection. - mikepk

Would people be interested in a 'generic' QR email decoder? It would be easy to enable, but I worry about explaining the difference. I've seen several people throw general QR codes at the system. Not sure what they were expecting.

QR Code Street Art, NYC - PSFK - http://www.psfk.com/2009...
It's not a QRcode though, looks like it's a datamatrix code. Still cool to see 2D barcodes as street art. - mikepk from Bookmarklet
According to the comments it says: 'I INVADE NY 4' - mikepk

Anyone have experience sending vcards to Verizon users through their email to SMS gateway. Is it possible?

I thought the Red Sox logo looked cool. Making progress on some optical flow stuff.

Looks cooler in motion, but it takes too much effort to generate the video. :) - mikepk

Running the same algorithm with multiple color channels. Definitely getting close to andy-warhol-meta-consciousness. http://snapmyinfo.com

Some of the pop-art in motion. :) - mikepk from Bookmarklet
not bad for almost no optimization. Still a lot of work to do. - mikepk
It's a good feeling when it looks like the crazy plans just might be possible. :) - mikepk

Maybe I should just throw some of these functions together and have the http://snapmyinfo.com image processor generate pop-art logos for me.

On the upside, I've gotten the code to recognize the location of the 'interesting bits' in space. Now I just need to get the processing time down so I can do it in real-time. I'd also love to ideally have it work out the orientation too, but don't want to get ahead of myself. - mikepk

A lot of my image processing experiments for http://snapmyinfo.com turn out looking kind of like pop art. :) (via http://friendfeed.com/mikepk...)

Features requested: Allow promotional code claiming to be done with additional contact data in the body. Confirmation emails to the person who's contact was just shared.

Now for the stuff that's way outside my comfort zone, telling people about the service, getting people using it, the whole marketing thing.

Some amount of relief now that I've actually talked about http://snapmyinfo.com . Now time for some pizza and beer.
pizza and beer mission was a success - mikepk

So this is just an experiment, people can ask questions or post issues if they want re: snapmyinfo.

I'm still writing the blog post describing the project, I guess I went around myself. :)
