@EGDeedy I'm sure chef @jcc271 will be happy to hear you say that, though I think it's a bit overstated :-) And Le Voltaire may disagree

Steff Childs I'm a Texas girl living in Omaha by way of DC and a few other places along the way. As always, I'm dealing with my obsessions with food and what have you. And then... There's that whole short attention span thing I've got going for me. - Derek

RESTAURANT REVIEW: LiT Tapas Bar and Lounge (TOC) - http://omahacritic.com/?p=106
Pluses: The food was very good, the decor is nice. For this I would have given it a solid 4 napkins. Minuses: The service wasn’t great, and the prices are a little high for what you get. These things degraded my rating. Overall Impression: It is probably a fun 20-something lounge, but I wouldn’t plan on it for dinner. I give it 3 napkins. - Derek

RESTAURANT REVIEW: California Taco (TOC) - http://omahacritic.com/?p=110
Pluses: The food was good. It didn’t take a long time, and thankfully, they still let us order as they were closing the doors. Minuses: It’s a little pricey for what it is, but it was still pretty good. Overall Impression: The puffy tacos weren’t enough to sell us on this being one of our favorites. They were, however, enough to get us to want to go back and try more of the menu. All in all? I’m going to give it four french fries. With salt and red salsa, Baby. - Derek

RESTAURANT REVIEW: The French Cafe (OWH) - http://www.omaha.com/article...
Change is welcome at Tony Abbott's French Café & Bistro It wasn't Paris exactly. It wasn't the French Café of some fancier yore. But it was pleasant, approachable and satisfying. And that trumps nostalgia any old day. - Derek
Fairly good review for "Tony Abbott's" French Café & Bistro by the #OWH http://www.omaha.com/article... Congrats to Jeff Camp, AKA @jcc271 for the turn
Amazon Web Services Blog: Announcing Amazon Elastic MapReduce - http://aws.typepad.com/aws...
oday we are introducing Amazon Elastic MapReduce , our new Hadoop-based processing service. I'll spend a few minutes talking about the generic MapReduce concept and then I'll dive in to the details of this exciting new service. Over the past 3 or 4 years, scientists, researchers, and commercial developers have recognized and embraced the MapReduce programming model. Originally described in a landmark paper, the MapReduce model is ideal for processing large data sets on a cluster of processors. It is easy to scale up a MapReduce application to jobs of arbitrary size by simply adding more compute power. - Derek

BookFresh Is OpenTable For Everything Else - http://www.techcrunch.com/2009...
Who might need such a service? A lot more services and individuals than you may realize. While most services have some sort of scheduling system, many aren’t optimized, and can’t adapt on the fly to openings/changes. Massage therapists, dentists, doctors are all perfect examples of who could use such a system, founder Ryan Donahue tells us. He notes that health and beauty has been a particularly hot area. He knows that because the service has actually been around for a little while, but it was formerly know as HourTown. But BookFresh is a much better name for the service because, “appointments are much like produce items in a grocery store, it’s a perishable thing,” Donahue says. - Derek
Re: Join the Omaha Foodies Discussions @ GFC - http://www.gastronomicfightclub.com/blog...
"The Osso Bucco at Biaggis was served on the bone, so you could dig our some marrow with that, but it looks like they have castrated their menu and took everything that was good off of it. I hope I'm wrong about that. Vivace's is supposed to be bringing their Osso Bucco back on their menu, so you could try their. You could also try Le Voltaire or The Boiler Room. If you call ahead by a couple of weeks, you might be able to request it. Or you could just try to get some yourself and roast it at home. Talk to a butcher and have them save you some bones." - Derek
