Social Media: What are your predictions for Social Media in two years? Who will be on top, how will companies use it for marketing, and will any of today's major players vanish?
If I knew the answer I would surely be a very rich man! - Joe Dawson
On top of what? There is room for everybody! There is no one Killer Application! - Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
Igor, in almost every industry, room gets squeezed up by big players. There used to be room for everyone in search, social networking, social networking applications....the list goes on. Most industries eventually consolidate. Perhaps Social Media will prove too diverse for that, but I think there will be several "killer" applications that dominate. FriendFeed will probably be one of them, Twitter will not, Digg will continue to rise, Reddit will drop further. - Ben Parr
Only time will tell, something hot today, may grow weeds tomorrow! But there is always intrinsic value in the assets. - Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
Things will get more complicated and more combined. There are thousands of different services and more or less, some are losing the game while others are finding how they can adjust their working to more specific uses than what now is possible. Social Media as itself will get to more normal stage when it's not hyped that much as now. - Daniel Schildt
Lifecasting will become ubiquitous as kids, technorati, et al want to document the minitiae of their lives for posterity. Perhaps some companies will use lifecasting or daily video a la Seesmic to pull in/retain customers, fanboys, VC, etc. a - Cat Laine from Alert Thingy
Social Media is the new diary. Why would people want to write it in book when it could be online? ;) Ok, mayby not exactly that but it could be. - Daniel Schildt
talking about Social Media. Users and Contents will be on top! - Jansen Lu
Books are about stories, characters, learning, information, and arcs. Social Media is about people, information, collaboration, and content. - Ben Parr
The participation of the (customer, audience, etc) will move from the exception for certain content producers (American Idol, Blogs, Web Shows) to the expectation - it will become the killer app. - Tony
Maybe mix of traditional TV and radio to online tools can allow even wider mixdown of different kinds of contents and allow more tools for real time media productions. Conversation and sharing is the big thing now and it will get bigger. - Daniel Schildt
Just don't think that social media inside Internet could replace social connections in real world. It's just good addition, if not addiction. - Daniel Schildt
I agree Tony and wouldn't be surprised to see votes for your "favorite idol" being submitted through Twitter in the next season. - Sharon McPherson
I hope not! I will puke! But there might be takers! lol - Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
