I don't care if it fails or not because I'm not using it.

I'd like to add that the karma system combined with those referral urls being spammed all over the interent are what's making Plurk. There's no new functionality there.

plurk will fail because no one needs it! ;)
- Dieter Schwarz
The interface requires too many moust clicks. Karma points = inducement to spam.

it is for the myspace crowd. wont go big like twitter
- Palin Ningthoujam
the 3-d message system is just too complicated!
- Jansen Lu
I think Plurk is growing well. I know many who are choosing to use it exclusively over Twitter, which bodes well for Plurk.
- Maki
Maki: It's only growing becuase of that karma system. But, that same karma system will eventually create too much noise on the service.

i think there is less noise because the replies are contained in one persons statement rather than flooding the timeline. if someone is flooding your plurk timeline, you can just remove them just like twitter. i think as people get used to the service there will be less "i love plurk, twitter sucks" type statements as people have already started sharing more links and intelligent discussion relative to the influx a week ago.

My friend who has had no interaction with Plurk picked up the buzz and fed it back to me. I'm already a member but don't see it as anything more than a fad, like nu-rave ha!
- Joe Dawson
@Gerald I definitely don't think its only growing because of the karma system (although it does encourage one to use the service). The interface itself encourages conversation and people are sticking around because of that. I suspect that Plurk will find a way to create better noise filters in the future. Right now the 'mute' feature is not a suitable solution.
- Maki
I agree with Palin that it's for the myspace/facebook crowd but actually think it will be massive. I find them very 2D where as Plurk is def 3D. The whippersnappers will love it!
- Richard Dewick
Plurk is good. It creates competition. It will make friendfeed better. Twitter got shitty because they thought they were the only game in town. they started to let people treat each other like shit. What in the hell do we have guys like Chris Brogan or Robert Scoble around with gazillions of followers if they don't have the balls to be involved with the users as community leaders. If a scene here starts getting tyrannical like a Stalinist state (like on twitter) then we have options.
- NoahDavidSimon
@Palin Ningthoujam won't go big like twitter? Newsflash: MySpace is big, Bebo is big. Twitter ain't. Just because you don't use a service, don't discount it. I think plurk has the potential to outstrip friendfeed and twitter... it just won't be any of us that use it. It's clearly for the kids.
- Gez
the ladies like it. clearly plurk is a myspace. it will attract guys who want to pick up girls
- NoahDavidSimon
Plurk has the merit of being an alternative to Twitter while not being too similar, something Pownce failed to achieve.
