...once again we're in 'incomplete statistics' land... The payout was from the Swedish collection agency - is that the only one that pays out on Spotify? What's the deal between them and ASCAP/BMI? Are these performer or writer's royalties? Are any payments made direct to the label? The article that this one links to on 'torrent-freak' says she's had 20,000,000 (yes 20 MILLION) Paid-for downloads - any analysis of how Spotify is driving people to those services? Any click through data? Any data on usage patterns? Any sales figures for 7Digital (Spotify's digital sales partner that link direct from Spotify?)

..oops, it posted before I was finished... Anyway, the point is, if she's on Spotify AND she's sold 20,000,000 downloads (as opposed to 4 million 'albums' - no mention of what formats those were in, or whether digital albums are included in both figures - ahhh, I love the smell of BS record industry statistics in the morning!) then it's working. Her digital strategy is working. It's a massive, hulking, juggernaut of WIN. FFS, how can the headline here be her Swedish royalty pay-out, not her sales????
