Looking for input on the "visit all of the links" approach on this one. Any thoughts, suggestions?

I really liked it! Just wish you'd add the round-up blog post as the final "stop" on the link train route.
- Sonya Smith
Thanks, Sonya. The right side of my brain says "why didn't I think of that?" The left side says "infinite loop and concentric frames." I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

"Thanks for the additional information, Tommy. I would call it an educated guess at this point. Sims 3 + server maintenance = suspicion of a June 1 or 2 launch of iPhone OS 3.0. In this post http://mblapps.com/whats-n... , I summed up all the new features of 3.0, these are the games that were demoed (I've added after each one if a release date has been been announced): * TouchPet: By ngmoco. A virtual pet that you can play with, buy stuff for and you can get push notifications to play with a friend’s virtual dog. (ngmoco's site gives no date, only that it's "coming soon.") * Live Fire: a multiplayer, first-person shooter game. You can send notifications to invite friends to the game, play with your friends and buy new weapons (like a rocket launcher) with real money. (no information on release date available) * ESPN: includes text alerts via the push notification service that play the ESPN tone, video scaled based on your level of internet connection. (Nothing official,..."

"Google Reader, the RSS feed engine that has become a major hub in my daily information gathering, pulling in feeds from the hundreds of blogs and Web sites I follow, is taking a step forward in terms of making the service more social, by integrating private conversations between friends. With today's release, every post and every share has an option to add a comment, which will be displayed to your friends who you are connected to."

We're spiraling out of control with all the places comments are sprinkled around the web. Is there any cohesive end in sight? Can mashups really keep it all together or are end users bound to remain confused by the sheer mass of options? Also, any plans for FriendFeed to release a Wordpress comments widget? :)
- Ryan Stanley
from IM
The comments on Google Reader are intended to stay between friends of the service, and not to be exported to FriendFeed or the original blog. Notes, on the other hand, can still flow to FriendFeed. Also, you won't see the comments on my shared items feed if you go to the direct URL.
- Louis Gray
And Ryan, Backtype is an excellent solution.
- Louis Gray
Probably a good service for people who use Google Reader as their main interface to the world.
- Ontario Emperor
Backtype is a great solution, albeit yet another layer. So share on Google Reader, which gets picked up on FF, siphoned over to Twitter, and sync'd with Facebook. Conversations can begin with different people in all those places. Bedlam! Does anyone make effort to siphon discussions to one place or another?
- Ryan Stanley
It looks like the Reader team was inspired by FF in terms of the layout & functionality (middle comments merge into link eventually).
- Paul Arterburn
Just started using it - a very cool new feature!

"I tend to agree. No sense in naming it anything with a "3," given the iPhone 3G. That means the conventional iPod naming (4g, 5g) won't work. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple went with "Video iPhone" -- given that the 5g iPod with video was "Video iPod." They could always go with just "iPhone" because of the regular iPod being called "iPod Classic." I wonder if (and that means a big if, ultra-pc and newton fans) Apple also rolls out a new newton or small laptop the iPhone name or branding will change."
- Sonya Smith
"Nice jon on noticing that change. That is a pretty big deal. I use tweetdeck all day at work on my second monitor, so it's not a huge change for me. But, it will be nice esp when using only the desktop Twitter."

"Please share what you think of Facebook Connect. Does it add value to apps you regularly use? Are there other apps you use which you think should add Facebook Connect?"
- Sonya Smith
The No. 1 feature I want in the iPhone OS 3.0 is better gps ---- so there can be voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions. This would also add features open to tons of applications. For example, Brightkite (if background processing or push was allowed) could chirp out while you drive around town when a friend is nearby. The turn-by-turn directions would also make sense to be audio-prompted, and that could let you do something crazy like accept a friend request in Facebook by saying it out loud.

I've always liked you Mona - now we're clearly friends for life. LOVE Very Hungry Caterpillar. A great Australian kids' book is Possum Magic. Highly recommended.
- Kate Foy
OMG Eric Carle has a book titled: "Pancakes Pancakes"!! I LOVE the man's books. And Kate? Any Eric Carle fan is a friend for life of mine, too! :)
- Mona Nomura
Shut up, Erin. Are you serious? *edit: holy cow, that is a real book!!
- Mona Nomura
A good children's book can be read many ways, and has little details that are revealed over repeated readings. Isn't it fun to figure out where the mouse is in each color panel of Goodnight Moon, and see how that book and Runaway Bunny tie in to each other?

I actually learned a lot about body parts and basic science through books. ie: scabs, nostrils, blood, etc. (Japanese children books LOL) I wonder if there are English translations http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp...
- Mona Nomura
Fox in Socks. But Camilla's first exposure to reading was Eric Carle's "Brown Bear, Brown Bear"
- April Buchheit
OMG, so many! I read a lot of stuff. But little kid stuff? Probably Dr. Seuss...esp "Are You My Mother?" - the best line: "You are not my mother, you are a SNORT!" That killed me when I was 5.
- Sarah Perez
'Possum Magic' by Mem Fox. She read it to our class in school, and that's one of my fondest childhood memories. Just the way she read it...
- Bec Rowe @d0tski
Possum Magic is great (we have signed copies of Mem's books, she lives in my town) ,, Hungry Caterpillar is and always has been a favourite, and now I love to read The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child to my kids :D Another great Mem book is Ella Kazoo Will Not Brush Her Hair
- Penny
My daughter loves Go Dog Go, so I rate that one too. Green Eggs & Ham is another fave. Also love Goodnight Moon for toddlers ...
- Patrick Jordan
Like that Mike Mulligan & The Steam Shovel one too - and Runaway Bunny, and The Little Red Hen (which there is a superb iPhone eBook of) ...
- Patrick Jordan
"Guess How Much I Love You" (the one with the nut-brown hares)
- Vicky
The Gruffalo for my kids. For myself, something called "The little book of monsters", which I've not managed to lay hands on as an adult
- Mark Aitken
Good topic Mona - and also like The Very Hungry Caterpillar ...
- Patrick Jordan
There are so many titles I don't recognise here! Bet there's a top 100 books list on t'nternet somewhere...
- Mark Aitken
I threw The Shining off our 11th floor balcony when I was 14 or something - because it still scared the shite out of me just walking past it on the shelves after reading it ...
- Patrick Jordan
Depends on the age, but "Guess How Much I Love You" is one of my favourites...
- Steve Lacey
@Patrick - I buried my copy in the bookshelves and slept with all the lights on for a month after reading The Shining. I refuse to watch the movie, in any version, but most especially Kubrik's version with Jack Nicholson. Typecasting?
- Sally Robinson
Oh, the Places You'll Go!, Green Eggs & Ham, Cat in the Hat, Harriet the Spy
- Egyirba
I read Carle to my daughter quite a lot when she was younger. I like Mo Willems (spelling?). And there is a guy that does Russell the Sheep that has art that is so slick. Past that, of course Dr. Seuss! Gosh, with all of these likes, am I a kid trapped in an adult's body?
- Ken Stewart | ChangeForge
The Surprise Doll and Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel and a book about Baby Animals
- adf
We read The Lorax a lot, it's a fun read with lots of silly words
- Brian Hendrickson
My 2 year old son loves Freight Train and his "bright baby" Truck book - they're nightly staples.
- adf
Alexander and his terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. I could read that for smiles at any time. Even now! hah
- Sonya Smith
Liked, because I'm sure this thread will come handy one day.

LOVED "The Phantom Tollbooth" when I was a kid. As far as really little kid books go... I love to read "Goodnight Moon" to my son before bed. He is 10-months-old and really likes it! I am sure we will have many more favorite books as he grows up! Looks like I have a lot of good suggestions here! :)
- Meredith
there was this one book about a chameleon that I loved. can't remember the name of it now.
- chrisofspades
Cars and Trucks and Things that Go. With the little goldbug you had to find.
- Steve C
Great book and I love Eric Carle. I love the "True Story of the Three Little Pigs".
- John Flynn
Flawless here Jesse .... Facebook is really rockin' the landscape right now. Tweetdeck integration was fast and easy
- Charlie Anzman
The only problem is because the Facebook API doesn't allow it, you can't comment on the original status updates from TweetDeck. It's almost not worth it because of that.
- Jesse Stay
very cool, if only the 10 columns limit ever goes away...
- Dobromir Hadzhiev
Good point, Jesse. Makes me want to steer clear as well.
- Sonya Smith
In addition, I need the ability to show just the people I haven't hidden. Friend List filters would be great too (that TweetDeck could do because it's available via the API)
- Jesse Stay
i think I prefer the Digsby/Facebook integration to the new Tweetdeck integration - but still nice for those who don't use Digsby
- Nathan Chase
Mmmm.....this could make me switch back over from EventBox which currently does the same. Tempting.
- Eric Doerr
I stil use Ping.fm that has facebook, twitter, myspace and others builit in
- Patrick
from twhirl
Still trying to decide what to use...Tweetdeck, Digsby or Ping.fm at work with PC or Eventbox/Adium at home on Mac...thoughts?
- bch12
Brett, which services do you actually use, and what tool will allow you to make the most out of all of them with as little effort as possible? For me, TweetDeck covers most of what I need, except for FriendFeed support. The additional tools TweetDeck offers make it worth it though.
- Jesse Stay
I should also add that PeopleBrowsr is also worth considering.
- Jesse Stay
Out of all the possibilities in the Apple iPhone OS 3.0 these features are needed to compete with the Pre: universal search, video, push notification, more horizontal keyboard options, wireless syncing and copy/paste.
- Sonya Smith
Often I'm purposefully skipping the conversation (digg) on blogs because there is so much vitriol. Love FF convos - I can hide or block if things go too far off the rails.
- Jennifer Dittrich
Sarah Perez summed up the answer in 5 words :)
