Prior to Apollo 13, some Saturn V's had pogoed excessively during launch, so in 13 the center S1C (1st stage) #5 engine was cut off first. Also, retro rockets on the S1C accidentally fired before & not after separation as planned, giving the crew a big jolt.
A friend says "Both S1C and SII center engines were supposed to shut down early by 13. They started shutting down the #5 on the SII on 10."
