Each episode takes 62 minutes on my MBP for a 2 pass encode. The 300MB rips are beautiful (well, as beautiful as TNG can be) but the hour per episode encode is getting old.

Dannnng. That's longer than it takes to just watch the sucker.

I can cut that in half with a single pass encode, but the quality difference is noticeable.

I hear you. How old is your MBP? My desktop rips through a 2-pass on a full movie in less time than that. Do you have a Core 2?

It's the last unibody generation without the non-removable battery. c2d with 4GB. I'm using the iPhone preset with 2-pass selected and light deinterlacing set up in video options. Which presets do you use?
