"myKite is the Brightkite application for BlackBerry. Previously known as “BrightBerry” when it was in Beta, the MyKite app is a social networking tool geared to simplify meeting people based on the places you go. The fact that it ties into other existing social networks — like Twitter and Facebook — means myKite will compliment, instead of compete with, those more popular social networking tools. iPhone users have had a dedicated Brightkite application since October 2008. I’ve had a chance to use myKite for BlackBerry since it was officially released last week. Does the free application translate well to the BlackBerry platform? Does it deserve space on your BlackBerry? Well, Let’s just see…"

"Microsoft has stated that there will be no update for any current hardware to add Pocket Internet Explorer 6. Regarding making IE Mobile available as a separate download or update, the rich media experiences that IE Mobile 6 enables require more powerful, advanced devices. That is why it will not be available as an upgrade or direct download for current phones, but rather will be made available on new phones."

I'm using Iris Browser, and got the benefit of many Webkit-HTML5 based webapps for iPodTouch / Android. Currently, PIE is enough.

I can't remember if I've tried Iris or not. I tried lots of them. There's always something missing. I hate the browsers that make me go to a different page to type text, for example. The Java ones do that.

I just got an update from my Google Groups thread that someone is working on a FF app for Windows Mobile. I will post the link here when he does.

It can be resolved somehow by adding Gtalk client to Windows mobile and have all messages set to come via Gtalk. But its not a solution.

I would love to see it when it comes out. I also couldn't find a good client for Twitter.

"Making the rounds quickly on Twitter this weekend is Tweetwasters, a site that gives you an idea of how much time you’re really ‘wasting’ posting messages and status updates to the popular micro-sharing service. Users are calculating away and tweeting about it, ironically spending even more time on Twitter (not that there’s anything wrong with that)."

"Anyone who works with fast moving technology knows that there is always a new shiny tool that gets all the attention. It tends to change every few months and anytime you start to use a new tool, you do secretly wonder if it will be around all that long. By any measure, Twitter has passed these boundaries. It has been around for several years. Every day more and more people discover it and it's usefulness in their personal lives."

"Like Facebook and Apple with its iPhone, San Francisco-based Twitter has successfully captured the attention and energies of third-party developers, who have unleashed a wave of both practical and trivial applications that work with it. So here’s another one that caught our eye: Tweetmas. The app, developed by the London-based Crowdstorm, allows Twitter users to tell their followers what is on their wish lists for the holidays."

"Irony Alert! I forgot to mention the President intends to pay for the $35 billion SCHIP program with a $.61 increase in the cigarette tax to $1.00 a pack. And yet one of the programs the Democrats want to fund in the Porkapalooza is $75 million for a “Smoking Cessation Program”. So they intend to fund the increased enrollment in the SCHIP program with smokers, while funding a program to get smokers to stop smoking. Only the government can design a plan like this."

"Michael Isikoff reported for Newsweek that while many of us were fomenting about Bush preemptively pardoning at-risk members of his administration, he and his lawyer Fred Fielding (White House Counsel) were concocting one last expansion of executive privilege. Four days before he left office, Mr. Bush authorized Fielding to write letters to Harriet Miers and Karl Rove giving them "absolute immunity" from Congressional inquiry and prosecution. Preemptively. In perpetuity. Absolute and irrevocable."

Chris Dodd’s mortgage documents through Countrywide Financial, the sub prime lender that provided sweet deals to Washington, D.C. insiders. The headline urged Sen. Dodd to “stop the waffling,” and cough up all the paperwork surrounding his two mortgage arrangements through a special program run by Countrywide’s CEO Angelo Mozillo."

Politico’s Mike Allen reports: More from Senator Lieberman: ‘We had hoped Vice President Cheney would be here tonight. I hope it’s not his back injury that’s keeping him away. Apparently, he hurt it moving some things out of his office. Personally, I had no idea that waterboards were so heavy."

"A federal judge has denied a request to keep the names of donors to California's anti-gay marriage initiative secret, saying the public has a right to know who's giving money to state ballot measures. Supporters of the initiative, which was approved by voters in November, had sought a preliminary injunction to hide the identities of those who contributed to their campaign. They had asked the judge to block disclosure of late donors, who gave in the final weeks of the campaign or shortly after the election. The state is scheduled to release that report on Feb. 2."

Here's the pickle with that, Peter. As soon as the government comes out with legislation to prevent exactly the scenario you've outlined, most Republicans I know will throw a fit at a big government telling them how to run their lives. Doesn't matter if the issue needs to be addressed, they won't accept the government addressing it. The best we can hope for is for government oversight that puts the onus on banks to not make such crappy loans in the future.

Greed is fine but not when it is unwarranted i.e asking for gov't assistance....greed is ok when you can afford it, but in Citigroup's case they can't

"Anyone who watched the news videos this week of Hillary Clinton’s entrance into the Department of State would have been struck by the outpouring of the staffers there. She was surrounded by people; people taking photographs with their phones and cameras; people who obviously knew her from somewhere before; people who were just trying to pump her hand, to touch her, people who were just so damned glad that SHE was there. The only thing I did not see was someone throw themselves on the ground to kiss the hem of her pantsuit. Dorothy had landed; the wicked witch was dead, and the Munchkins had emerged to celebrate and throw off their fear."

"Earlier today, President Obama issued his first set of Executive Orders. One of these orders instructs “federal agencies to handle requests for information from the public and press under the Freedom of Information Act [FOIA] with an eye toward disclosure, not refusal.” The order reportedly returns to “pre-Bush administration policies” regarding FOIA. In response to the “new standard of openness,” conservative talker Rush Limbaugh said that he fears that the more open FOIA rules will make it easier for Bush to be held to account for any misdeeds he committed as president: LIMBAUGH: What I’m afraid of is that what Obama did with this executive order is actually make it easier for the media to go get Bush documents. Because you know Pelosi and some of the guys over in congress are talking about war crimes trials and charges and so forth. […] What I’m afraid of is what Obama’s done here is made the gathering of the information for this kind of stuff– This is not American. This is not America"

"January 21, 2009 (Computerworld) President Barack Obama's stated plan to create a "Google for government" began Tuesday with a WhiteHouse.gov makeover that was announced via a blog entry on the redesigned Web site and a Twitter post. The Web-site transition occurred at 12:01 p.m. yesterday, when Obama officially took over the presidency from predecessor George W. Bush. The Twitter announcement said "Change has come to WhiteHouse.gov" and pointed online readers to the blog post written by Macon Phillips, the Obama administration's director of new media at the White House. The @TheWhitehouse Twitter account was set up by the Bush administration, which posted more than 1,500 entries there. But the account never attracted much of a following until now. On Monday, it had only about 3,800 followers. By this evening, just a little over 24 hours since Obama's inauguration, the number of followers had topped 14,000 and was seemingly climbing with each page refresh."

This year, it is possible the president himself, as well as members of his administration, might be on that list—for authorizing torture. On his way out the door, President Bush might be tempted to protect himself and members of his administration by issuing a broad pardon for any crimes committed in the course of fighting terrorism."

"The debate over whether you should follow everyone who follows you on Twitter has raged on ever since the popular micro-blogging service gained traction. Some say following everyone eliminates the real value Twitter provides--connecting with others of similar interests. Others say that following everyone actually provides more value. But if you consider some of the finer points of following everyone who follows you on Twitter, I think you might come to the realization, just as I have, that following everyone is not just a responsible move on your part, it's good of the entire community."

Author has the assumption that one uses Twitter for information and news. I mostly use it for entertainment, so it doesn't help if I follow everyone. I follow entertaining people which isn't everyone (and I don't even consider myself part of that group). When I want information and news, I do a search.
