I just blocked Scoble. Suddenly, I feel 25 pounds lighter...
which scoble? - AJ Batac
Not me apparently, heh. - Alex Scoble
No, not you Alex. Never you. - Sprague D
Heh, that's an odd thing to block my brother over, but I kind of understand. - Alex Scoble
He is in China though. What else would he write about? - Morton Fox
LOL, Chris...yeah and yet he doesn't even have an Oppo DVD player... - Alex Scoble
d..v..d.. player? that one of them kooky physical media things? ;) *whisper*he says as he begins a campaign to make sure that he hasn't missed ripping any of his dvds*whisper* - alphaxion
Oppo is just a good example of a Chinese company quietly making inroads into the consumer electronics market via the best DVD players you can buy for pretty much any price. While the high end Denon costs $2000, the high end Oppo costs $500 and has better video performance. - Alex Scoble
Scoble has been preaching WAY too much lately, that's for sure. - David Risley
I would like to buy one of those $100 Chinese mini-notebook computers. - Morton Fox
alex: was nudging more on the fact that people should be moving to a central media library of digital files rather than physical discs ;) - alphaxion
That's true, alphaxion as long as the media supports it. Currently, though, there's no way to move BluRay media on to a central storage unit. - Alex Scoble
I think many people, Robert not withstanding, tend to make these large generalizations about China without doing their own research and tending to see shocking things, and want to assimilate and narrate a story around it that makes sense to themselves, without research.Happened to me, and I came back to the states and did some more research and interviews. But it is frustrating to see the authority & guesswork combiantion. (Btw. I'm also addressing him with these thoughts too.) - anna
Robert is Robert ... It's really never changed. I had this issue over a year ago and felt strongly that 'skimming', you come up with some neat stuff. I understand totally where you're coming from Sprague but 'hiding' might have been a better option. Every so often, there's a goodie :) - Charlie Anzman
I have a sixth sense to tune that nonsense out if it doesn't pertain to me. Later, he'll be back on to more interesting topics, and I'll want to hear those. I tend to think of it as my selective reception. - Pete D
Damn. This is on the heels of my finally buckling and subscribing to Scoble because I like Alex so much. I've always found Robert to be a bit more preachy than I appreciate and not just on a few occassions. I find Alex much easier to discuss and argue with because I never get the tone from him that he feels he's an "authority" on anything. Not to pit the brothers against each other. Errr... - Mattie Kenny
Sprague: In *just* one second!? This is an unhealthful diet! :D - Erhan Erdogan
This is Robert. Using Paul's account. You can block but you can't hide! :-) I love how you are picking up Chinese censorship approaches! - Paul Denlinger
Chris: I did, after your comment http://friendfeed.com/e... - Erhan Erdogan
Uh. Nope. If that's really you, Robert, that's a rather lame thing to do. - Akiva Moskovitz
I understand your reasons but .... if someone was obnoxious or rude or trolling I would block them. What's this called again - 'Friend'Feed? Hmmm. Isn't it about taking the rough with the smooth? I agree with Robert about 50% of the time but I wouldn't block him because of that. If he decides to model the lingerie I would consider blocking him, but otherwise he's an interesting contributor. Horses for courses. - WorldofHiglet
I appreciate comments on topics I'm not deeply familiar with, like what's happening in everyday China. Robert's is but one voice among many I expose myself to. I may not agree with his every assessment, but he's offering one and it's my decision how much weight to give it. My choices would be more limited without him, and I prefer not to limit input. - Jack Carlson
I've liked a lot of what Robert has shared from China. He gets caught up in it and shares his passion. Is it overwhelming sometimes - sure. But that's when I'll hide something. Frankly - he seems less active now that he's in China, just more focused on one topic. Perhaps that's the difference. - AJ Kohn
Mark Harmon would not be amused. - Akiva Moskovitz
IMHO, hide is more appropriate than block here but it's up to you. - Morton Fox
LOL Robert, that sounds....almost peaceful! How awful to be harmonised from the other side of the world. I hope you don't lose too much sleep over it, terrible burden that it must be. - WorldofHiglet
Sprague: You may see fun! http://www.screencast.com/users... : )) - Erhan Erdogan
Yeah really- with all of the options in FF, an "unsubscribe" would probably do. I enjoy Robert's posts and haven't ever thought of blocking/unsubbing, and unlike a lot of the a-list "recommended" on FF, he actually posts and reads comments on here. - anna
an unsubscribe would have sufficed. robert might be a sensationalist at times, but he's not mean-spirited or invective. he has some interesting things to say imo - Cee Bee
Blocked him ages ago. Seems like i'm not missing much! SSDD. - nick martin
