Swap out "art student" with "journalism student" and you've pretty much encapsulated my first degree program experience in college. :)
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
Swap it with PhD in English and you get the same thing, only with copy-editing substituted for the drawing and painting sections.

One of my dad's GFs did that to me once. I told her I was going to school for graphic design, and she asked "what are you going to do for money?" Yeah.. you see that magazine you're reading, the billboard on the side of the road, or the packaging on your bottled water? THAT'S ALL GRAPHIC DESIGN.

where's the pie slice that has the 'hmmfph! another trust fund kid'?
- Morgan Haley
Make the pie chart be completed (like, 100% is red for example), change major to Computer Science and then the question be "Can you fix my computer for me?" That's mine...
- Clark Baumgartner 蔵明 馬武刀
Clark Baumgarter is right. And for the art practice, student or not I think the red is more likely to be 90% !

Can you lead with less control or a different kind of control? Must "control" be a zero-sum game? Is there joy in leading by helping other people tell their own stories? Is leadership only about technique or is it more about meaning? Are we using team members, employees, or students as instruments for our own ends or are they viewed as partners, where their development is a central consideration for us? Is not leadership also about creating the processes, structure, and conditions that allow team members to perform autonomously? Can you still be "in control" and let people be/feel free? Can the structure create the conditions for that freedom?

"ya know I've been trying to put words to why i do photography or how i feel about it, and you've nailed it for me: it's the "focus on the process of creating art as much as the end product itself." it's the vision you see and then the creative process in execution. that, and i love sharing how i see the world with those aruond me :) thank you fred! as far as film vs digital goes. i started out with b film..shooting, processing, dark room the whole shabang. that's what got me interested, but now i have a Rebel XSI and no darm room so it's much more difficult to enjoy the "process" part of it. i'm not even sure i really consider 'photoshop' part of the process (which is why i usually keep my photos fairly raw). thanks jessica! :) http://www.flickr.com/photos..."

$35.00 This is a Chinese made camera from the 1950's. It was designed to be a copy of higher end Tlr's. It's not a high end Tlr, but it's a very decent one and it's in excellent condition with one unfortunate flaw: There are two small, thin scratches on the taking lens. They're hard to see, but definitly there. Also, the leather is peeling away from the metal body under the focusing screen. It's also missing one of its chrome legs. The frosted viewfinder is in good condition. The shutter fires well and the film advance works properly. It's a beautiful camera! Your camera will be carefully packaged and shipped Priority Mail to the US and First Class Mail to Austalia, Canada, the UK and Ireland.

$26.95 This is a handsome old camera! We're selling it as a decorative object since we have no idea whether or not it is in good working condition. This particular No. 3-A Autographic Kodak camera is the Model C version. The last patent date on this one is November 8th, 1921. This was a common amateur's folding bellows camera for 3 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch "post card size" exposures on #122 roll film. The autographic feature on the camera is a small door or flap on the back, and there's supposed to be a small metal stylus provided with it. This camera is missing the stylus. The autographic feature had less to do with the camera than with the optional autographic film that could be used, designated #A122 instead of #122. The autographic film was backed by an unusual carbon paper that would become very slightly transluscent when a sharp object was pressed against it. In practice, autographic film was used in the camera just like any other normal roll of film, but with one added advantage. If...

$27.00 Kodak brownie flash six 20 circa 1940- 46 this sweet little brownie has the best profile and shiny chrome flash backing. the shape is trapezoidal from above tripod mount below and (from what i've heard) the usability of 120 film right out of the package makes this one good both on the shelf and in the hand cannot guarantee workability, but shutter sounds good 3 x 9 x 4

$0.00 brownie starlet camera, UK edition circa 1953-54 this amazing find is the RARE brownie starlet camera, made in the UK. only a few (~263,000) of the first model brownie were exported to the US in 1953-4, where they were badged Brownie Starlet - not to be confused with the more common brownie starlet black bakelite body and cream colored knobs. takes 127 film. the shutter seems to work fine. a bit of a small scrape to front cross hatch design, but does not detract this is a true find and would be a centerpiece for your collection 5 x 3 x 3
