"Startup companies that engage in PR campaigns are 30% more successful in getting funding within one to three months than those that don't" (http://www.prweekus.com/Study-f...) - but I don't see startups really trusting agency - style PR. What do you think?
i guess a thinking behind this goes as follows. Startups are firstly financially quite sensible and thus unable to pay (usually) large fees that dedicated PR agencies. Also, by their nature startups are still in the process of research and development of their products and thus are the best people to promote their own products..

Still - do start ups ever have the time to do PR? Is is better if one member of the team deals with PR?

Regarding the situation in Greece, most agencies that call themselves PR agencies are into advertising. These two things are totally different and people don' t know this. PR is an utility you need as a start- up for development. Those who are into PR have to work to gain the trust.

Colin - interesting. I'd like to hear from a startup as well cause the one I'm helping out doesn't like the idea of a PR agency.

Konstantina Z and there is one of the reasons that startups don't trust PR companies I think. Advertising and counting column inches is not what PR should be about

Colin - thank you. Would his decisions be different if he heard from a PR company and if he heard from an entrepreneur? I wonder.

@Sofia Of course not, PR is about communication and people. It is different.
