It’s been just 3 three months since we began our round the world journey and we now find ourselves ecstatic over the idea of a hot shower. The price of air tickets will rise from this Sunday as the controversial Air Passenger Duty (APD) takes effect. On economy flights within Europe, passengers currently pay £10 APD and £40 on long-haul destinations. The departure tax on premium seats is double this. The new charges are divided into four geographical bands, each determined by the distance between London and the destination.

Visitors to Cancun will have to don snorkel gear if they want to check out its latest museum. Diving into the Caribbean they will see the eerie figures that make up Mexico's Subaquatic Sculpture Museum - the world's largest underwater museum. In November the first of 400 sculptures will be placed underwater off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsular to encourage visitors away from the damaged coral reefs in the West Coast National Park.
