An Open Letter To Whoever Controls The Fate Of FriendFeed - http://www.johnnyworthington.com/...
Whoever
To Whom It May Concern, If I was writing a movie based around the current scene at FriendFeed, I would cast you as the big, evil corporation and all of us FriendFeeders as the people at the community centre standing in the way of ‘progress’. But I don’t write movies and, frankly, Channel 7 News isn’t [...] - Johnny Worthington
"FriendFeed is more than a few noisy tech bloggers. While I agree that there is thick filling of tech and social media content here, it sits on a delicious base of personalities and personal connections. Over the 18 months I have been here, I have seen births, deaths and marriages. I have watched children grow, others fight cancer, couples fall in love and felt very real support through my own family issues. I have emotional currency in here, and I am sorely in debt." - Roberto Bonini

Thought Provoking. They are making a movie about FaceBook, so why not FriendFeed, that is the one I would rather queue for. - Kevin J Hatton
Robert Scoble's recent words about the future of FriendFeed were meant as a call to arms by him (although that has just become clear). This is my first salvo... - Johnny Worthington
Thank you for serving up this good food for thought and call for action! Here is a meme that might be helpful for the effort - while "FriendFeed: the Company" may be history ... "FriendFeed the Concept" may be the future. It may make as good a verb as it does a noun - like "to google" has become synonymous with search, "to friendfeed" can become the core SN function. Maybe some motivation for FF owners to guide their legacy to this logical conclusion. - Dan Freeman
I have a feeling I'm being gently shepherded to Facebook. The problem is, I use Facebook for real ife friends and family, and high school classmates. So I don't quite know how to make the transistion. - Ted Gilchrist

http://techwag.com/index... Thank you, Johnny, well said. - Michelle Martinez

Johnny - I am new to FF (and most all social media) and arrived only due to the influence of a friend that I wanted to follow (a few months ago I didn't even know what "follow" meant!) ....what I found was an interesting, informative, less commercial site that I now go to numerous times a day. I think your letter precisely expressed the sentiments of most FF'ers new and old....I hope someone was listening!! Thanks for the great effort and I, for one, second that emotion! - Sharland Allen
Because I'm not all scripty and junk the comment I made over on Johnny's blog won't come over here, so I've copied it instead: "Well said, Johnny. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask what the future holds. Paul Buchheit did say things would carry on but the implication was that it would develop into something new. Change is scary, and unclear change doubly so. When Robert Scoble said... more... - WorldofHiglet

For the record I NEVER have said that FriendFeed is in danger of disappearing. At least not soon. I'm not worried about that. I'm more worried that FriendFeed isn't evolving and will soon be matched by other systems (including Facebook, which is where Paul works now). Because I see that happening I have moved a lot of my time to other systems like Twitter and Facebook because I've... more... - Robert Scoble
johnny why do you have default permalinks? you can change them to the ones including post names. would be searchable SEO they say - ffcode
If I were worried about the servers being turned off I'd stop using this as an aggregator too. Right now I'm bringing all my Twitter Favorites in here which makes them searchable (they aren't searchable on Twitter). That's a HUGE advantage to FriendFeed for the moment. But I know Facebook and Twitter are working on search and Twitter and Facebook just made a deal with Bing. - Robert Scoble

Re: How to Market an Offline Event Online - http://www.chrisbrogan.com/how-to-...
"That's so true. I think however one consideration if the event is in the medium to long terms is that there must be a balance of "building" the marketing towards it, but not overwhelming people and having them satiated before they are ready to signup. Needs to build interest, build energy, reward the early birds, then build interest again, continue to build energy, and close then repeat with a new audience or from a new angle" - Stephen Baugh

"I should say this guy, was an awesome guy, with such an inspiring story. In fairness to him, the details are a little sketchy so I may not be telling his story perfectly, but the substance and his success is certainly real. So my thanks goes to him for reminding me of how important it is to treasure and develop peoples confidence ahead of everything else." - Stephen Baugh

Re: Twitter and LinkedIn finally introduce lists – a step towards social CRM - http://ijump.co.nz/twitter...
"I'd like it if people could put themselves in their own peer / demographic lists, kind of like people applying #hastags to themselves. Eg I am a CEO, in AUCKLAND, interested in TWITTER You know what I mean. That way, i could work out which ones I want to pay attention to and these could become the basis of my own "watch lists" Like you blog btw well done" - Stephen Baugh

Re: What it Takes to Be an Overnight Success - http://www.chrisbrogan.com/what-it...
"Awesome Chris ... Thanks for sharing your life and your passion with us. It's pretty inspiring and I love the stuff your saying about authenticity and the need to collaborate. I whole heartily agree. Make sure you find some balance, or the shine will start to where off :-) And don't be frustrated with the people who say you've got it easy. I know where you're at, but they probably don't. While most people are asleep nice and cosy in their beds, I bet you continue to burn the midnight oil. Not just to get up for a plane but so that you can honor those that have honored you by responding to there emails etc. You have have my deep respect for your effort and very real sacrifice." - Stephen Baugh

Re: What it Takes to Be an Overnight Success - http://www.chrisbrogan.com/what-it...
"Not wanting to argue but, I'm not sure I agree with this. If you watch some of Tim's videos you get to know he actually applies himself pretty hard, and seems to be a really determined and focused person. His "work" is an issue of semantics, as he said in one of the videos he has on his blog when speaking at a wordpress conference. something like "I don't count the stuff I love as work" Chris loves his work to ... "so arguably" isn't actually working hard either ... but it looks like his passion is wearing him down at the moment." - Stephen Baugh

"Ah so true ... it is actually so easy to get distracted with Twitter. Especially for those caught up in "the number of followers you have being an indication of who you are". The truth is people can see through the empty attempts ... And so can we of ourselves :-)" - Stephen Baugh

Re: 6 wealthy guys and what they taught me #3 - http://stephenbaugh.com/2009...
"Thanks Todd, that's very nice of you to say. I think there is a related point to one made above and that is that, although you need to add value in a way 'your' customers appreciate. That doesn't mean you should try to add value to everyone just hoping they might become a customer. You have to stay true to who you are trying to be otherwise the old "all things to all people" rule kicks in. Thanks Again" - Stephen Baugh
