Twitter / ClinicalReader: @stevelawson @eagledawg But we're not happy about the general tone of the article and the other points raised - hence our response! -
This gets better and better. - Steele Lawman from Bookmarklet
they aren't happy about the response so they threaten legal action?? that's just nuts - Sir Shuping is just sir
Hopefully they won't issue a taken down notice on the one blogger for misuse of their copyright. (That's the trick people play.) - Jill Hurst-Wahl
They've backtracked with a "junior member's poor judgment" explanation: - Peter Murray
Looks like they are changing their images "In response to dynamic conversation regarding the post by @eagledawg I have requested urgent removal of all 'according to..' images (AA)" - Joe
The company has been around all of two weeks, give or take. - Joe
According to their Twitter profile, they operate out of London, so the sh*t hit the fan about dinner time for them. They've probably been scrambling ever since. - Peter Murray
Heh. I don't have time to add another note to my post. I'm sure I'll add something. I'll make it big and obvious if they actually apologize (to Nikki, not to me) and retract. - Steele Lawman
I think there would have been less sh*t if they hadn't threatened legal action in a tweet. - Sir Shuping is just sir
New professional goal: never be the mythical junior employee everything gets blamed on - Rachel Walden
Librarian avengers FTW! - laura x
Wow. I missed a doozy of a day, I see. - lris
It keeps getting weirder and weirder. The recent back-and-forth between @ClinicalReader and @BenGoldacre (columnist for the Guardian) makes it seem like Clinical Reader has something to hide. Very evasive to direct questions. - Peter Murray
Good grief. I don't know Goldacre, but the tweets seem a little unhinged. - Steele Lawman
Goldacre writes Bad Science for the Guardian I updated my post with a Google Doc of the apology I received from CR that explains the stars & the Guardian is mentioned. - Nikki D.
wow, Nikki, that apology is very interesting. wow. - maʀtha
I like a whole lot of Goldacre's work, Steve. - David Rothman (☤)
Goldacre's tweets seem appropriate for a journalist who's integrity has been called into question. It is the evasiveness of Clinical Reader that strikes me as odd. - Peter Murray
David and Peter, OK, I'll take your word for it, and certainly it's CR that's most clueless and odd in this situation. I was reacting to Goldacre's 20 @clinicalreader tweets in a row. - Steele Lawman
The bit in the apology about being in contact with "teams" from the other institutions (re: endorsements) is interesting to me (w/ caveat that obviously I don't know what their agreement/contact has been with those places) - would not want someone to say that b/c I and my colleague like something, my library endorses it. - Rachel Walden
Rachel, you nailed it. Read the QuoteURL conversation links at the bottom of - Nikki D.
insult to injury: - whether they authored these anonymous gloating retweets or simply decided to retweet them, they make the "junior employee" excuse and the apology letter to nikki sound hollow. amazing how they seem to be pushing the negative publicity, since it's the only kind they're getting. - Luke Rosenberger
now they are attributing their annonymous retweets to people who never said it - and plus - Christa
they seem to be deleting posts now...stuff seems to be missing, including the original tweet about legal threats against eagledawg - Sir Shuping is just sir
no way, Andrew! yikes - maʀtha
maybe i'm just missing some of it, but it seems like there's less - Sir Shuping is just sir
Needless to say, I don't accept the apology from CR anymore. I did at the time but this is something different. I can't blog on work time & also am so furious I'm not going to tweet until I'm capable of more professional language. WTH. - Nikki D.
Thanks for the heads-up, Andrew. I had anticipated that, which is why I took screenshots of some of the tweets for my blog post. - Steele Lawman
I see the "legal ramifications" one at - Rachel Walden
yeah that one is still there, my bad but it still looks less and i saw one of the other people say that the rt attributed to him was taken down - Sir Shuping is just sir
I do think you're right that there have been some changes/deletions, Sir. - Rachel Walden
deleting tweets? really, CR? screenshots live forever. duh. - Christa
"I have taken control of this account & parted company with former acquitances in Canada whose behaviour I can only describe as schoolboy" ?!?!?! Huh? - maʀtha
Martha, I think that's what the dramatists refer to as "irony" - DJF
@D0r0th34 - sure, he (allan marks) could post something to the website, but he still thinks this issue is contained to twitter. viz: - Luke Rosenberger
"the twitter-verse is small"? Bwahahahaha! wow, still clueless about how the interwebs work. - Christa
Wow, what next? - Steele Lawman
mm-hmm, that was the end of that conversation. speaks for itself. - Luke Rosenberger
Because obviously librarians never speak to doctors. - Hedgehog
And doctors don't use twitter? Way to take "inappropriate and rude" and turn it into "bizarre and clueless." - Rachel Walden
Partially because I want to remember this, and partially in case more tweets disappear.. - lris
oh and good luck with are there ANY medical librarians that actually want to be associated with CR at this point? HA! - Christa
really, I'm starting to wonder if this is sock puppetry or something - maʀtha
clinical reader just tried to retweet the librarian david rothman, and attributed it to the other david rothman (teleread). - jambina
Now -- how can we get Clinical Reader into a dialogue with alasecrets? - Jason P
Here's my contribution to the blogosphere on this, - Jill Hurst-Wahl
