I realize developers like to advertise their products somehow BTDT but enough with via Alert Thingy notice in every single post from the thing
yes please - it reminds be of the way people say "in bed" after reading a fortune cookie... - Frederic
Should I be thankful I've never heard anyone start that, Frederic? Maybe it doesn't happen here in the Midwest. - Voyagerfan5761
Wonder why the via labels are annoying in friendfeed but not twitter? - Seek Ground
It appears in a standardized format over at twitter. With AlertThingy it's just added to the text in a very annoying way - Aviv
@Voyager - yes - I have mostly heard that in the NW, but also the NE... about the labels: I think it's because they are part of the actual message text. With Twitter (and the Twitter clients), they are always part of the line with the username where they are easy to ignore. - Frederic
Also the name Alert Thingy is rather long IMHO... and it has a space - Aviv
@Aviv: I think the space is trying to get lost, actually. Unless I'm wrong and all the omitted spaces are just typos... - Voyagerfan5761
(call me crazy) but I've a problem with the capitalized A, which is why for a while there my name on FF was all lowercase. There's something about that pointy A (especially in Arial/Helvetica fonts) that just doesn't seem right to me from a user perspective. It's too harsh on the eye, is what it is, and the T doesn't help either :) It simply draws more attention than really needed, unlike most twitter client names, which are mostly lowercase as well. - Aviv
That's it. I am writing a friendfeed posting app called "...in bed." :D - Adam Lasnik
meh it's not too bad at all ...via AlertThingy - Ryan
