I own 10 or so, only one is not made by Apple.

The problem is you have to let go of your PC habit completely to really see the time you are loosing dealing with PC related issues
- Antonio Altamirano
Does it matter anymore? They both run Firefox, RDP/VNC, VPN, SSH, WoW, iTunes, and Photoshop.
- Chris Weiss
from twhirl
Yeah, it matters. There's no Mac client for Remedy, so it's either run an ancient version of Netscape or run a virtual Windows machine if I want to use my Mac to do work. And don't get me started on how sucky Entourage is with Exchange. I had to set one of my users up in Outlook on his secretary's PC earlier this week just so he could add someone as a delegate (to put entries in his calendar).
- MiniMage TKDteacher of FF
Chris: I was a PC guy all the way and did not think there was any difference. Once I tried a Mac I pretty much dumped all my PC programs. Mac by being UNIX based offers a better environment for coding/designing/creating IMHO
- Antonio Altamirano
Uh oh, no religious wars please. Sometimes there are special requirements, sometimes it's just preference or what you're used to or have invested in. These days, Mac, Linux, or Windows will do almost anything you need done, and they're similar enough that you can work on any of them without too much trouble.
- LogEx
In the perfect world the OS wouldn't matter. I can do almost all I want on either a Winbox or a Linux one. However, as I use Adobe CS3 for work, I keep a windows machine for that, so it can run natively. Web, email, etc, I can use either, as I run that all through Firefox. No sucky Outlook/Exchange here!
- Ian May
Yeah, if my employer didn't choose Active Directory, Exchange and Remedy, I'm guessing my MacBook would be sufficient by itself.
- MiniMage TKDteacher of FF
I've used Windows all my life, and I'm completely sick of it now. Mac seems much more promising to me at this point. Ubuntu is impressive but I need iTunes and Traktor. Hoping to get an MBP as soon as I can afford it.
- Alexander Carlill
Point taken. In my experience, anything platform specific is on something that can be remoted into from Win or OS-X

RE:Exchange - OWA works fine for my needs. Even under FF.
- Chris Weiss
from twhirl
Yeah, Chris, but can you change the permissions on your calendar from OWA? My user couldn't.
- MiniMage TKDteacher of FF
But you're not restricted to having to do that directly from a Windows box. You could have use RDP from Ubuntu into a Windows box to change the permissions. Without even having to deal much with the remote OS, really. What I was trying to say was that between remote access tools like VNC/RDP/SSH and so many productivity tools being available "in the cloud" what folks choose to use as their "main" box is getting less and less relevant.
- Chris Weiss
I like to have as many computers as the next person (or maybe more), but there might be something a teensy bit wrong with needing a second computer to get work done on your first. Then again, how often does one really need to change permissions on an Exchange calendar? I've got to say, it's all about what works best for the individual. I don't want anyone else's constraints, so I won't try to place any on anyone.

Looks like a question for you, not for Mac heads. Who shat in my pants?

Ron Paul is a patriot and a gentleman. He speaks his mind and has a terrific character. I think he knows that he can't get elected, because his views are not mainstream enough to appeal to a large enough audience. The numbers just don't work out. But, he still trudges forward, giving a voice to ideas that don't receive a lot of press otherwise. I forget who said it, that 'those who have the least to lose can speak the most freely'.
- Alex Hutnik
Apparently this picture is from months ago. Still sad though :P.
- Costa Walcott
I think they photoshopped the background.
- AJ Batac
Man, I don't wanna end up like that in 50 years! Sad, sooo sad...
- Jason
Ron Paul should be the president. Obama is part of the same corrupt system as McCain Bush, etc.
- Tokyo Dan
Wish we had someone like Ron Paul in the UK. I would of voted for him if I was in the US. Obama seems a nice guy but as Tokyo Dan said Obama and McCain are ran by the same corrupt system. God I sound like Adam Curry on the DSC, lol

Ron Paul wold have ended abortion rights in this country as we know it.
- PC Easy
from twhirl
There's no such thing as an "abortion right."
- ComicList
is there some kind of godwin's law for when a discussion devolves into the abortion debate?
- anna sauce
Yeah, that's just what we need. When the economy is going to hell, let's talk about abortion.
- Victor Ganata
Seems to be contrary to Disney's and Pixar's position on BluRay, in that they love it both technically and for it's profit.
- Eric @ CSTechcast.com
Would've been cooler if he would of said Blu-ray was a hot mess or full of FAIL.
- Paul Reynolds
I think it's a way of forcing people to get their HD content from iTunes. Apple has no interest in allowing people to use anything but their own licensed content. They basically said as much in the answer to the question. Plenty of other companies have survived the licensing "complexity" to offer Blue-Ray in their products.

If Criminal Minds were available on Hulu I wouldn't need cable, either.
- Nine
I've been doing that for a while now , and I don't miss it at all.
- Michael Fidler
from twhirl
@ Michael ditto. I've been without cable for 7 years. How many channels is it now? And still nothing to watch.
- Kevykev
Glad to hear it Kevin! I've been all Internet for over a year now!
- Chris Menning
sounds like an HD less setup for TV series/sports unless you're using appletv or vudu.. i suspect you have a nice tv. isn't that a waste/
- Chad
from twhirl
what do you use for Internet without comcast? They're the only decent pipe I can get... I think
- Trevor Pressman
thats what i am talking about Kevin, I was on that bandwagon a while ago and i am not jumping off anytime soon.
- chris
I'm sold. Looking at the new WiMAX provider in the Duke City.
- Steven Perez
I would do the same if I could get my husband to agree, but he is a bit of a ludite, tivo is about as modern as he gets

Miro is great too. Think a tivo-like feedburner or bloglines for Video RSS.
- Chris Menning
My wife would not be able to live without her daily Soap Opera feed.

Having just read Zittrain's "The Future of the Internet and How to Stop It", it makes me even more sensitive towards bundling content and access in appliances... Good job sir. But it's too bad we have to make such difficult decisions.
- Ben Turner
Chris, thanks for the Miro heads up! Checking it out now.
- Rey Anthony
Crazy I just called Charter to tell them it just wasn't working out and that they should come get their stuff.
- Mathew A. Koeneker
