Don't blame ya. I have cut out so much crap from my diet recently it's unreal. If I could give up burritos and Pepsi life would be good ;)

I've come to seriously dislike Rene Zellwiger; I still like some of her earlier films, but her mannerisms (which don't seem to change from film to film) drive me nuts. The only two I can stand are Empire Records and Chigago.
- Jennifer Dittrich
I have TONS of them: Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks, Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise, Robin Williams, Rene Zellwiger (though I did watch Shark's Tale), Woody Allen, Meryl Streep, Scarlet Johannson, Tyler Perry. My list goes on, but this explains why I mostly watch foreign movies. LOL
- Admiral Anika
Julia Roberts (*fist bump Anika*), Sally Field, Matthew "I can't stand without assistance" Mcconaughey (except Dazed and Confused), Katherine Heigl.. probably more, but those are the first that pop into mind.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
Steve Buscemi because he was that creepy, creepy guy in Con Air and ever since then, he is just too creepy to watch.
- Rochelle
Kevin Costner. He drives me up the wall and back again.
- Shannon Jiménez
Robin Williams, he's not funny, acts like a child 99% of the time and any movie he's in generally makes me want to vomit. I'd also say anything with Pauly Shore, but nobody would willingly watch anything of his, so he probably doesn't count.
- Ace
Costner's another one. I'd also like to add Any Rapper. With the exception of Friday and Any Given Sunday, rappers should just not ever act. Mos Def, I'm looking at you.
- Admiral Anika
Zac Effron. Becuase of High School Musical.....
- Roberto Bonini
My sister can not stand Will Farrell. Which amuses *me* because his movies totally fit in with her humor from when we were kids. She won't watch them.
- Admiral Anika
Katie Holmes. If I do get stuck watching her, I usually make fun of her a lot. Oh and I have a lot who I avoid a certain genre with or I avoid their recent stuff. Like Jim Carey or Adam Sandler. I will watch them in something serious/drama or old stuff before they are know, but I avoid the more recent comedies where they are just playing the same annoying character in a different movie.
- Rachel Lea Fox
Jim Carrey and Will Ferrell although Carrey was brilliant in Eternal Sunshine. He desperately needs a director who will seriously reign him in but so rarely gets one.
- Jeff Jones
Dane Cook. I'll walk out if he appears in a movie trailer.
- vicster is...
LogEx, totally agree with you there. When I saw Eternal Sunshine I realised that Carrey doesn't 'just do funny', completely changed my view of him.
- Charlotte M
could be nicholas cage. by the way, I think Tom Cruise was really great in Valkyrie.

As critical as I am with my film habit, surpsingly the answer is no. I will however purposely try to avoid crappy filmmaking regardless who's in it.

Renee Zellwegger and Drew Barrymore, I just can't stand them. Renee I can never watch. Drew, sometimes, depending who's are the other stars.
- Alejandro
@Paul OFlaherty We were crossing over into Columbus Circle at the same time. I smiled at him and he gave me the dirtiest look I have yet to tolerate. I won't pay a cent to see a Laurence Fishburn movie.
- nakachi
Adam Sandler. Steve Carrell. Nicholas Cage. After a couple of viewings of their stuff, I just started to avoid them. Plenty of other good stuff out there.
- Rick Cogley
jamie lee curtis--> I really dont know why the aversion since she is great actress?

Wesley Snipes..Only because his movies tend to really suck.

Alec Baldwin. Throw up just thinking about him.
- Deborah Fisher
Patrick Swayze. There, I said it. Deal.
- Kevin Pedraja
I have to agree with Pete. It's more about the filmaking than the actors. There are directors I won't watch but not actors.
- Jason Williams
from iPhone
Matthew McConaghey if only because he doesn't act, he's just "that guy." I'd love to cast him as the lead in Richard the Third. Just to see if he could do it.
- Greg
Arnold Schwarzenegger. (& please, don't say anything bad about Steve Buscemi, Rochelle; he was the 1st about-to-be-famous actors I shook hands with, just after he acted in his star role in 'In the Soup') (he was my hero) (my anti-hero, so to speak)(I still have to wash my right hand after all these years).

There is no doubt Friendfeed is the most advanced app on the Internet right now. It has interestingly taken me 2 years to program it to do what I want it to do and I haven't finished. How many will have the patience? Social sites will become FFesque (ffesque). I take my hat off to the team of coders you guys are shit hot ... more please.
agreed but then if you get FF you won't leave
- Thomas Power
(posted from twitter) "socialmedian@thomaspower friendfeed already went mainstream. It's called FACEBOOK" Nonsense Jason. Facebook is a fad. Friendfeed is a trend. Easy come, easy go.
- Thomas Power
Amen to that Thomas. People don't realize last year it was myspace, this year it's facebook, next year it will be something else. Is the nature of social media.
- Suburban Oblivion
Thomas you are so right friend Feed is a great place to play~Patience is key to anything worth the long term rewards~
- Bunny Parkinson
If something takes a clever user two years to program to do what they want to do, it's a long way from the most advanced app on the Internet.
- Ian Betteridge
It's hilariously common in new media to write things up as "a fad". MySpace has 100 million unique visitors per month and 1000 employees. They claim that revenue is up 35% year on year. That's a long way from a fad. In other words, simply because *you* are a gadfly who hops to the newest service every time one comes out doesn't mean that other people do the same.
- Ian Betteridge
Ian I think you are saying "Thomas you're stupid" are you?
- Thomas Power
hi Thomas. can you please tell me where these words come from? source? obviously it's said by a FF founder somewhere, but I'm having trouble tracking it..
- Onur Kabadayi
No, not at all Thomas. Just because I think what you're saying is wrong doesn't mean I think you're stupid. But remember that what appears to be the case when you live in the internet bubble isn't actually the case when you get out into the world of average users. When you look at the facts, it's clear that neither MySpace nor Facebook are fads - both continue to grow. People like you...

- Ian Betteridge
Hi, I think you'll all find this quite relevant: Looking at FriendFeed's today, envisioning a better future (http://cli.gs/npt5GH) I quoted this post on my article, but couldn't show source Thomas not yet responded...
- Onur Kabadayi
OK Ian I won't be insulted but I do think if these platforms can't retain me for long they are fads, so sorry about that. I'm not a geek but a good old fashioned user. Linkedin, Xing, MySpace, Naymz, Konnects, Facebook I'm sorry but they are passing through me as fads none can hold my attention. Twitter has a bit of my attention not much because it doesn't do much. Friendfeed has alot...

- Thomas Power
My 2 cents. Maybe Fad isn't the right word but its undeniable that Myspace is passe for the large majority of social media pros and regular folks alike. Facebook is doing some really good work (despite my loathing of all the noise there) and has some staying power but I'm not sure that I won't be saying the same thing about it in a few years.
- Keith - @tsudo
Friendfeed to me is different. Can it go sour someday? sure. Mainstream popularity would increase the noise but FF has always given users tons of tools for stream management. Yes that leads to complexity but those tools help me tune into exactly what I want to hear and that is the power of FF. I'm with you Thomas.
- Keith - @tsudo
I think FF is one of the most brilliant and yet fundamentally flawed sites out there.
- nick tadd
Flawed in respect that Thomas states - it takes soo long to get your head round it. Other than that it's one of the best - but only for those that have an understanding of the web (and for that matter computers as a whole). real time applications have only developed through Twitter and Facebook both, arguably, are still in infant years, so "to get" friendfeed will be tough even if it was in a more useable format.
- nick tadd
My iphone is the most advanced phone on the market right now. It took me 5 minutes to program it to do what I want it to do. Something to reflect on?
- Richard Alberg
Richard you're new here so we can't take you seriously yet ... can we folks?
- Thomas Power
Richard is new, which is great. Welcome, Richard!

"Today FriendFeed is a "niche" product, and with the current strategy, it's destined to stay that way. It could be OK to be niche, however I'm not sure if FriendFeed could generate adaquate revenues that way. I've outlined my and others thoughts with regards to how it may have a better future." http://thebluebear.com/blog...
- Ozgur Uckan
Friendfeed is great. But need some usability re-design. Don't you think?
- Ozgur Uckan
Hi. I enjoy this thread, it has been a source of inspiring discussion on FF... Thomas, I am under the impression that these words in your original post "..It has interestingly taken me 2 years to program it to do what I want it to do and I haven't finished..." belongs to a FF founder. Can you please clarify? I used it in my blog post, and I want to verify (there has been a comment...)
- Onur Kabadayi
Friendfeed takes the same amount of time to learn as other web services like Gmail and Facebook, it has just not been around as long so fewer people have had the chance to gain experience.
- Mike Chelen
Sorry, Mike, but that's simply not true. If it's taken Thomas P (who's a smart guy from his comments) two years to get it working how he likes it, it's not simple enough at all.
- Ian Betteridge
Ian, other platforms like gmail and facebook take at least that long to learn, friendfeed is a relative improvement
- Mike Chelen
hey FF is hard to figure out but I love apps like that and yes it did take me 2 years to master and find the top 120 minds to follow
- Thomas Power
any direction you can share on getting FF to do what you want it to do would be most welcome. I have a concern about double or tiple posting content to my FriendFeed
- Jonnie Jensen
FF may be sophisticated however the mark of a truly great product is making what is complex appear simple

Wondering why Google never thought of integrating GMail, Google Reader, Orkut and Jaiku together better, instead of letting some of them rot and die, given that they own them all, and it'd be in their favour to let people have one big pool of contacts and social data that was cross-referenced...
Yeah, in hindsight, they squandered a lot of potential when they launched and/or acquired those products, although I'm not sure what potential users and competitors would have thought. Still, I'd be curious to see if Wave will cause even more fragmentation, or become part of a solution to it.
- Tyson Key
We can only hope that Wave will be able to bring them altogether with Wave connections to each service.
- Travis Koger
Hmm, it'd be interesting to see what happens to Friend Connect too. I assume there'd be just be more little loosely connected "islands" when factoring that in, though.
- Tyson Key
Curious to see where the socialness of google reader ends up. Just read about some of there changes earlier. I'm a terrible self promoter in google reader share, but I rea so many great articles there. That's it, I'm going to more diligantly share the good stuff there and feed it here

this has been an ongoing issue with google products, that while sharing an authentication system, lack actual integration features
- Mike Chelen
Obviously a lack of coordination across development groups. The good thing about it is that you can have multiple identities across services using the same login. The bad news is that integrating all of the above becomes extremely problematic
- LANjackal
And few of them work with Google Apps, you always need an account on gmail.com.
- Marlin Forbes
Sort-of reminds me of how unpolished Google Squared was - they were using JavaScript pop-up dialogue boxes to request names to save data, and even then, it didn't actually integrate properly with the Google Accounts system.
- Tyson Key
For what it's worth, the multiple identities thing bugs me somewhat, when it comes to Google products. Sure, you don't have to complete the whole registration process again, but you shouldn't have to jump through hoops each time and keep providing your name and address/country information for each new product. Blogger strikes me as being badly integrated, too.
- Tyson Key
I think it stems from Google's early startup culture where much of these projects were launched without much thought about integration/cohesiveness. MS has the same issue too - a LiveID will sign you in to almost any service, but your identities can vary between services. Ironically, Yahoo IDs seem to be better integrated across their services than either Google or MS. As I've said before though, I don't think lack of total integration is necessarily a bad thing.
- LANjackal
from IM
Good points there, Marlin, Mike and LANjackal
- Tyson Key
I just resuscitated my iGoogle page (that's what was supposed to be your starting point, right?). Found that Google does not have native widgets for Orkut, Analytics, and many other Google Apps. There's no good launchpad for all Google services you use.
- Mahendra (SkepticGeek)
Interesting that you mention iGoogle. It seemed to have took them a while to enable the updated version of it, and depending on the web browser that I use, I get reverted to the previous version. Having Google Talk streams on the homepage is a nice idea, but I end up having to turn the mixer volume down, since it sounds like a casino with all the new message notifications...
- Tyson Key
Not sure why it happens, when I've got "Sounds off" set on the "Chat" tab on the Settings page. I've also noticed that annoyance on the Orkut homepage too, although I rarely visit that.
- Tyson Key
Sadly, it doesn't seem to be possible to disable that stupid "glunk" noise, barring going Offline in Google Talk.
- Tyson Key
I get the new iGoogle in all browsers, never had a problem. And I've disabled Google Talk in iGoogle - keeps me online in my IM client that way, and optimizes the iGoogle (and Gmail) page.
- Mahendra (SkepticGeek)
Orkut and Jaiku just didn't have the features to compete with other platforms out there. They are smart to leave it as dead weight instead of throwing muscle behind something they know will fail.
- Suburban Oblivion
Looks like there's a way to disable the audio notifications - select "No" under the "Enable sound:" section of the "Options" menu. Just what I was looking for!
- Tyson Key
Still, I'd expect there to be a unified setting for that. Seems very un-Google-like, although a lot of stuff from them seems to be heading that way...
- Tyson Key
@Mahendra - I wouldn't be at all surprised if there aren't a load of "widgets"/"gadgets"/whatever they're called this week for their competitors' products though. I know that they exist for Twitter and FriendFeed, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone hasn't thought of making a Bing or Yahoo! widget (unless Flickr or del.icio.us ones count), for what it's worth...
- Tyson Key
Not really. If you think about it the biggest push for full integration has only come in the last year, and those services are older than that. Google is smart, they know what works and when to leave it alone.
- Suburban Oblivion
I think Google has learned not to push things, to let the audience (crowd sourcing) determine what projects deserve attention or melting. They also paid a ton for Jaiku and aren't using it at all.
- Jason Nunnelley
Ah, Orkut is far from dead. They're constantly coming up with new features. Remember, China's broadband users outnumber the entire US population today. India is a booming mobile market, and Google has launched voice-based search in India, where 1 in 10 mobile internet users use Orkut as their primary photo-upload destination.
- Mahendra (SkepticGeek)
Hmm, linking Google Talk status updates to Jaiku, anyone? Makes sense to me, somewhat...
- Tyson Key
Thanks for the link, Mahendra. I'm reading it now.
- Tyson Key
+1 Arnaldo. There's potentially no reason why you couldn't have a Jaiku part (assuming that's the term they're using), a Google Reader part, and several Orkut parts, along with images imported from Picasa. Sure, it might take some engineering work on their part to retrofit the services if necessary, assuming that they're willing to.
- Tyson Key
also, dodgeball. which has basically been recreated again in a newer and better form by it's original founders.
- Bill Kinney
Good point about DodgeBall, I don't remember hearing much about it, or ever using it, until it got closed down with a small amount of fanfare.
- Tyson Key
yup, was sad to hear about notebook, but it's better to keep development focused rather than have multiple stagnant products
- Mike Chelen
from IM
@Jason - Yup, I was pretty annoyed about Google NoteBook, but they said that they'd try to keep it open to existing Google Account holders who previously used it, if I remember correctly. I just hope nothing happens to my Google Account.
- Tyson Key
Reader, Notebook, Gmail et al are all (if I remember this right) individual entities, managed by discrete groups of individuals at Google. This has historically made integration of these services (which were of course all technically still in beta and subject to change at any time) impractical at best.
