I always like to see pictures of people's office/workspace. The SongBird team has a really nice office layout not to mention the multi screen computers.

From the article: SAME has a menu that changes daily but always features food that's made from scratch and is largely organic. It has tables, chairs, bus bins, plants in the windows and overhead music (usually a mix of classic rock). But there's one thing SAME doesn't have: a cash register. There's no credit-card machine, no change drawer, no receipt book. That's because SAME doesn't have prices. Diners come in and order — some ask for just a cup of soup or a small slice of pizza, while others go for a whole meal, maybe even seconds if they're really hungry — and then pay what they want.

This to me doesn't make sense. What made Wikipedia great to begin with, now they want to undo that by enabling a editorial reviewing process?

Desktop Earth is a wallpaper generator. It will generate a high-resolution, accurate representation of the Earth. The imagery is based on NASA's Blue Marble Next and Earth's City Lights.

This article seems to agree with PAD, but there seems to be a pretty big bias here since they mention how about Ethiopia and Thailand's future lies in the people. No mention of UDD at all.

PAD has basically called the poor people stupid and that they need to be "re-educated". I find this remark to be incredibly insulting for PAD to say about others who don't see things the way they see things. Sure, the rural folk probably don't have access to the same amount of information as city dwellers, but that doesn't make them better and the other stupid. And to imply that it their duty to change their opinions. Simply disgusting.

Reading other people's code is one of the big challenges of a software developer. Sure, if it's in a different programming language you're not familiar with will be a challenge, but that's nothing compared to reading messy code where if it takes more than 15 minutes to figure out what's going on, it's probably not well written.

I agree that if you want to hire someone, that you should have some experience doing what you're hiring them to do. The same should be said of the candidate applying for the position. They should expect that their intereviewer has knowledge of the position personally, and not simply a manager of the project.
