The modder managed to get a whole Mac Mini inside this Apple Disk ][ Drive, using the 5-1/4 inch drive for slot loading DVD's.

I have yet to update to 2.2.1. Anyone here notice any difference in battery from 2.2 to 2.2.1?

I have not upgraded to 2.2.1 just yet, but when I upgraded to 2.2, I noticed a difference. I did some testing and found that the drain was related to Exchange Push. Here's my write up: http://www.thebernharts.com/archive...

Push email is a battery killer - it's also over rated. Management training used to teach you to take control of interuptions. Push email is just a series of interuptions - I used a blackberry for 2 years, I'm more productive without it.

I've found the biggest drains are WiFi being on when you aren't using it and some apps left running when you hit the power button. The iphone is the single worst phone I've had when it comes to battery life. But then, that might be because I use it quite a bit.

No difference for me. My battery is usually done by around 7-8pm, later if I turn off wifi.

I get 3 days battery life on my little non-PDA cell phone and I'm SOOO happy I don't have AT&T.

I noticed on mine if I charge it for 30 minutes or so that charge holds for awhile

My mum hasn't updated her iPhone 3G since she got it! That was like June 2008. She is annoyed that some of the Apps she wants won't work though... I'll update it for her soon enough.

The economics are there, the market is there and it really it isn't that difficult, and frankly, it is kinda cool. Unless something drastically changes, Hackintoshes are only going to become more popular."

@Rodfather, relax, sometimes even ppl with legitimate apple systems have problems after applying official apple updates

and only updates that change your mac os X version are potential problem makers. those dont roll that often. individual app updates dont mess up anything (like itunes update, quicktime update, etc)

to be honest, viruses aren't really a problem on windows either. They have become quite rare in my experience looking after a company full of machines. What has become massive and widespread are trojans and malware, of which osx has plenty. This is mainly because the whole scene has become profit orientated and so the oldschool VX'ers are dying out.

@Clay @DrApps I'll be very surprised if Etienne & co can keep up without more help, although I wasn't aware of how much effort has gone in recently into new builds and updates. The latest build looks like it's usuable for some and a crasher for others. It's in no way meant for a new Mac user!

I don't buy it either. The video originates from a poster in macrumor's forums. He didn't really want to say where he obtained the unit from. I think it's more likely that this thing is a fake or a prototype than the next Mac Mini. 1. 5 USB slots, why 5 and not 4. Bizarre. 2. Mini-DVI and Mini-DisplayPort. I seriously doubt Apple would complicate things by having more than 1 display adapter slot. 3. The Apple logo on the top isn't black a la Time Machine.
