" Jean-Pierre Alaux was born in 1925 at La Ciotat, France. He did not have to fight to become a painter, like many of his peers. He is a direct descendant from a family of painters or architects dating back to the beginning of the 18th century. Consequently, he found it hard to be taken seriously although he was extremely serious about his work. Jean-Pierre Alaux has been creating art for more than fifty years without following any particular fashion and has always remained true to his own style: art lovers have never had any doubts that he is one of the great artists of our time. For his part, he modestly hopes that the diversity he brings to each of his works adds to the audience’s visual and spiritual satisfaction by removing boredom, the source of many evils." - Amira from Bookmarklet

Battle With Susi by Marian Kretschmer - Gallery
"Born in 1983 Chemnitz/Germany. Marian is drawing for one`s life – he had to draw, otherwise he reduced, so he said. Brushes and pencils are the extensions of his hands. Would you take them away, it would be the same like an amputation of his heart. rn Large-sized illustrations – because small sizes are narrow him; so one day the idea of his 100m² panorama “24:01h” got born. Especially conspicuously are the many details, often related with a symbolic meaning. rn Themes like get lost of values; suffer and barbarization of the world are handled in his art work. However Marian don`t want to provoke, like many other artists; he wants that people take pleasure at his art work, that they can retrieve themselves and ask oneself." - Amira from Bookmarklet

"In Alex’s paintings viewer can see the dimensional rendering of color forming sensations and images. The unfolding flow of color allows viewer to enter, explore, find, and form his or her own kindred imagery. Like when a child experiencing joy finding shapes in a cloud, a relationship is formed. It becomes personal and joins viewer to the artist. And Alex is the artist who can direct the colors that influence the type and emotional intensity of the images forming in the viewers mind. The journey Alex creates for the viewer is the delight and he invites and entices the viewer to enjoy it. His oil paintings clearly depict a philosophical nature, openness, and an organizational harmony; they reflect a surrealistic, phantasmagoric exploration of the “collective unconscious”." - Amira from Bookmarklet

Tránsito en espiral / Spiral transit by Remedios Varo, 1962 - http://vi.sualize.us/view...
Tránsito en espiral / Spiral transit by Remedios Varo, 1962
"Spiral Transit is a watery landscape and a city in unlikely configuration .This painting was created by an artist known as Remedios Varo in 1962 in Europe. Remedios Varo used a mixture of warm and cool colors, variations of brown and green a little of blue and yellow to make this picture very original and comforting. The Spiral transit has a very dark water back ground. This makes the castle stand out a lot. This painting would probably be related to a castle in the middle of the sea or some kind of utopia. Remidios Varo used a lot o of curves in this painting which gives off a calm kind of feel. In this painting there are only a few kinds of characters. There are a few goats all on land and amazingly all of the humans are in these non-realistic boat type things and there is one bird he is in the very top of the castle like the guardian over everyone." - Amira from Bookmarklet

Salvador Dalí, Dematerialization Near the Nose of Nero, 1947 - http://aminotes.tumblr.com/post...
Salvador Dalí, Dematerialization Near the Nose of Nero, 1947
"While a good example of Dalí’s “nuclear mystical” period, this painting also reveals a more Classical style. With typical irony, Dalí wrote that “the two worst things that can happen to an ex-Surrealist today are, firstly, to become a mystic and secondly, to know how to draw. Both these forms of vigour have lately befallen me at one and the same time. Against an Ampordan plain, a huge pomegranate has been spliced, like an atom, into two parts. Seeds spill out from the pomegranate, floating in the air between the two halves. A bust of Nero hovers above the dissected cube that houses the pomegranate. The bust itself has split into four parts, (or alternatively, the four parts are coming together to form a whole). Dali’s use of a Classical theme such as Nero is emphasized by the Classical architecture that hangs over Nero’s head. However, it is not just the content that marks this painting’s Classical style; the brushwork is meticulous, the depiction realistic and the balance within it... more... - Amira from Bookmarklet

"I was born in 1963 in Bietigheim-Bissingen, near Stuttgart/Germany. After school, I apprenticed as a model-maker for industrial castings, went to sea, worked as a gardener and was a public servant at the office for German Telecomunications for eight years. From 1989 on, I apprenticed to become a gilder and worked for an art and picture-frame company until 2000. Besides making handcrafted picture frames, I also did restaurations of all kind, from sculptures and furniture to paintings of all classes. During my freetime, I built a 36 feet gaff-schooner, that part-time was (and still is) used as my home and art studio. At the end of 2000, I moved to North Germany, where my partner lives. For two years, I worked as a glassfibre worker and wooden boatbuilder for different companies. In 2003, I decided to give my art work a chance and started painting full-time, falling deeper and deeper into the subject since then and I hope, I never have to stop." - Amira from Bookmarklet
