From the page: "It's true: The latest figures from the U.S. Department of Transportation show that China surpassed the U.S. last year in the total number of cars produced. This is a radical shift from 1980, when the U.S. manufactured 56 times more vehicles than China. In 2008, China produced 9.5 million vehicles, while the U.S. produced 8.7 million vehicles."

From the page: "Decided to upgrade to a new greener phone for the new year -- only to get confused by all the conflicting green tech advice out there? You're not alone. Research eco-friendly cell phones, and you'll start getting bombarded with marketing speak about bioplastics and, I kid you not, seed-embedded paper outlining green features. "

From the page: "A sustainable community honors and respects diversity. Nature requires a wide variety of flora and fauna in the same ecosystem to remain healthy and viable. Nature honors and respects diversity; sustainable communities are no different. Demonizing those who have different backgrounds or ideas - a popular blood-sport in twenty-first century America - poisons the spirit of community and separates us as a culture. Why not take this holiday spirit into the new year with the same energy and compassion? Try seeing the good in people first."

From the page: "The 42nd Missouri Governor's Conference on Agriculture will be held on January 7-9, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch and this year's schedule seems to be more of the same topics, speakers and sponsors as in conferences past. Is the Missouri Department of Agriculture afraid to "spice things up" every once in awhile or what? In a day where Missouri Agriculutre has so much to be proud of the MDA has neglected to reflect any topics on sustainability, small farming, farmers' markets, local food systems or even urban sprawl. And for a department that "touts"its support for these type of topicsâ¦I ask why the MDA hasn't put their money and resources where their mouth is? I guess I have to give them a little credit- Jane Eckert will be presenting at the conference at least."
