In every city I visit there's an influence structure. Mostly the people who organize the events, or who work for TechCrunch or a well-known blog. People who float between these little nodes will still have lots of influence. Plus, most of those influencers still will visit USA to go to conferences. Novelty is not the only value proposition out there. There's a good reason why some strategies are timeless. The tactics/tools/techniques may change - but the overriding strategies remain ...People who mistake tactics for strategy will think that the newest/latest tactic must be the best.
