Will Nokia Jettison Symbian for Android? http://gigaom.com/2009...#nokia#android - I think it's time for both Nokia and Sony Ericsson to try something new. Android is fresh and Symbian is old. I hope Nokia will go for Android. It will be good for both Android and Nokia. I think we will see some great phones then!
I've Said this already when Sony Ericsson unveiled the Xperia X1. Why go for Windows Mobile when Android is the future?

I think the only way for Sony Ericsson (and Nokia soon) to turn their negative results to positive again is to go for Android OS and then go for some cool services around that. App store, music stores, ebook stores etc. Then they are in the game again.

Phones are not for calling anymore. They are small MID's (Mobile Internet Device), small computers that you always have with you. That you can make a call on them is only a bonus :)

My iPhone for example has replaced My Netbook. It can do everything that I did on the netbook, surfing, blogging, communicating, GTD, writing, play music and a lot more.

I think that Nokia have gone the other way. They have brought up most of Symbian and setup a Foundation to manage the newly opensourced code. http://www.symbian.org/index... So while the symbian platform may seem a little familiar today I still think that it has a long future.

Yes they have open sourced it but I still think that if they want to turn the negative results (especially Sony Ericsson), they need a new modern OS, and that's what Android is. See what Palm did with WebOS? Suddenly Palm are on the market again. All because a new modern OS.

They say: "There is no truth to this story whatsoever," a statement from the company read. "It is a well known fact that Symbian is our platform of choice for smartphones." - That is sad to hear Nokia

Nokia already have an embeddable Linux: Maemo. They seem unlikely to adopt Android while backing a competitor.
- Tim Tyler
Yes they using Maemo on their Internet Tablets. I wish they would use it on their high end mobile phones too.

The N900 seems likely to have 3G connectivity.
- Tim Tyler
Yes it looks really cool. That's the way to go Nokia!
