Facebook Acquires FriendFeed - Noooo!!!! - I don't like FaceBook but I love Friendfeed.. Sigh.. - http://www.techcrunch.com/2009...
"Facebook has acquired FriendFeed, we’ve learned. We’re gathering details now. At this point details on the acquisition are still very sparse, but it’s clearly a good match. Over the last year or so, Facebook has “borrowed” quite a few of features that FriendFeed popularized, including the ‘Like’ feature and an emphasis on real-time news updates." - Svartling from Bookmarklet
Facebook is so bad at importing content from other sources; I suspect they'll kill FF off entirely soon enough, if only to stop them from innovating : ( - Andrew Currie
This is sooo bad.... Sigh.. - Svartling
Please let friendfeed be as is and develop it further without any crap. - Svartling
I agree with you! Please please let friendfeed be as it is! - Maitani
I don't want a FaceBook account, please don't force me one to use friendfeed.. - Svartling
I had hopes for that Google should buy friendfeed but not FaceBook no!! :( - Svartling
I've integrated my friendfeed groups on my blogs and if FaceBook change so that we can't embed friendfeed anymore, all my blogs will be destroyed. For example clipotech: http://www.clipotech.com/ - Svartling
I had the same hopes as you, Stefan (that Google will eventually buy FF) but I was also thinking of this possibility which came. On a brighter note: perhaps it will not be so bad - let's wait and see where it will go and - well, Wave is coming soon... ;-) - Hanna Wiszniewska
Yes. You are right. Let's see what happens :) - Svartling
Friendfeed will die under facebook supervision, Friendfeed is innovation . - Rocky
Exactly! - Svartling from iPhone
When I think about it, Posterous could be the next friendfeed. They already got subscribe to users and an almost identical comment system! Perfect! Here is mine: http://pingmicro.com/ - Svartling from iPhone
Does Posterous have an activity widget that you can embed on another site, like the FriendFeed one I'm using at http://andrewcurrie.ca ? - Andrew Currie
Just checked it out -- it does indeed :-> - Andrew Currie
Andrew: No sorry they don't, yet. But you can make one with feedburner. - Svartling from email
Yeah and it even has "Likes" called favorite! :) - Svartling from email
Well, looks like that's my cue. Off to check out Posterous... - Dennis Jernberg
They even have a home feed with all your subscriptions :) - Svartling from email
Here is a posterous widget: http://blog.posterous.com/a-new-w... - Svartling from iPhone
The widget is not interactive though. Please posterous, make an option to embed our blogs just like friendfeed and tumblr have? - Svartling from iPhone
Seems interactive to me: http://posterous.com/help... -- clicking on stories will take you to the appropriate post. Or is that not what you mean? - Andrew Currie
One minus for Posterous is that it's not a direct conduit to original content -- if you post a link & autopost to wherever, the users are brought to Posterous and have to continue clicking through themselves, unlike FF. - Andrew Currie
Yes but it would be cool if we could "favorite" and comment directly in the widget. We can that on a friendfeed embed. - Svartling from iPhone
I don't understand what you mean? Posterous is original content. It's more like a blog then friendfeed. On friendfeed we post links to other blogs content. We can do that on Posterous too. - Svartling from iPhone
Right, but if I autopost a link to Twitter the user is brought to my Posterous page, not to the original story. - Andrew Currie
Ahh... Now I understand what you mean :) Yeah that is a problem if you didn't write the original story yourself on posterous yes. My solution to that is to post the link to the original story as a shortened URL in the title. That way the link gets clickable on Twitter. That's what I do. - Svartling from email
Too much of a kludge for me, as I also autopost to Facebook -- which btw works MUCH better than FriendFeed ever did : ) - Andrew Currie
Good for you then! :) - Svartling from iPhone
Have you tried Arktan? It has most of the important features of friendfeed you had discussed plus some more innovative stuff. - Srikanth
No I haven’t. Do you have a link? - Svartling
