Still bitching via GetSatisfaction about the iPod Touch/iPhone sound/music issue. Read more here and please chime in/share if you can. I want Apple to finally change this stupid thing! http://getsatisfaction.com/apple...
I don't have either, but if it's the sound being low, it's like that on the Macbook as well.
- Shevonne
No - it's not the sound being low. When you run an app, the music fades out completely and the app's sounds take over in many cases. I hate how Apple doesn't have a universal setting to prevent this. Some apps don't let you turn off their music - it should be Apple's responsibility, not the developers'.
- Tamar Weinberg
I'm gonna push this pretty hard socially, so FriendFeeders, beware. Apple doesn't give a damn. It's about time they start listening.
- Tamar Weinberg
I agree with you on this for the most part. I don't like going to other apps and having the music fade down.
- Louis Gray
Alternatively, if I am using another music app, like Sirius XM, and get a phone call, I'd like it to start where the music left off when the phone call ends.
- Louis Gray
Thanks Marco. This is totally going to be the most popular FF story by virtue of me adding the most comments to it, I already can tell... ;)
- Tamar Weinberg
Thank you Yolanda! But who wants to fight the good fight????? :)
- Tamar Weinberg
Apple is totally not going to care about this if I'm the only one complaining. :(
- Tamar Weinberg
Oh well. I guess I'm just going to fight this one alone. :( Thanks to the few people who did "Like" this and comment.. though I can't say it's going to help.
- Tamar Weinberg
FWIW, I have filled out the "contact us" form for suggestions on Apple's website. I've done that before, and either I'm lucky, or they listen - things that I didn't like got changed.
- Jennifer Dittrich
I've filled that out 934924 times and emailed Apple corporate. No response from corporate (except one response from a guy saying he'll pass it on when I wasn't as aggressive). Given that I made this request 18 months ago and Apple still hasn't listened, I'm getting impatient. The 3.0 update should've addressed it.
- Tamar Weinberg
Trust me. Using social media to make this plea is pretty much a last resort method.
- Tamar Weinberg
I really think that if there was a DEMAND for this feature, Apple would put it on their priority list. From this FF thread alone, though, it doesn't seem like I have many supporters. :(
- Tamar Weinberg
I don't want to single out Apple--okay, maybe I do--but they do seem to think they know what the user needs more than the user does. But I'm still pissed that they disabled video out through the headphone jack in the ipod classic.
- Steve Lowe
Yeah Steve, and that's a harder thing to argue - Apple doesn't support the classic anymore, I suppose, right?
- Tamar Weinberg
I'm not sure: they seem to bring out new stuff so often they forget about users of the older models. Or so it seems sometimes.
- Steve Lowe
They also forget about users of current models... :( I am REALLY frustrated that besides Louis, nobody seems to want to comment on the device/complaint itself as it relates to their usage of the product. Does NOBODY else here have an iPhone or iPod Touch?
- Tamar Weinberg
Okay, well, thanks for all the fish. I'm going to ask Apple to refund me 18 months of App downloads (about $300 worth). Wish the FF community supported this at all... might actually make Apple listen if more than one person had the concern :(
- Tamar Weinberg
Sorry you didn't get the response you should have. I guess people don't mind shutting off the music to play games. It's another strike against the device for me, and I'll be in the market in a few months.
- Steve Lowe
Thank you for joining us, Mr. Charlie Anzman :P And Steve, yeah - Apple is sitting high above the clouds and doesn't seem to care about user input.
- Tamar Weinberg
I added myself to the GetSatisfaction question. Good luck!
- Kevin Bondelli
Steve, at this point, hitting "Like" is all I ask. I want it to get as many eyeballs as possible. It takes no effort for people to hit Like. It takes a tad more effort for people (in order of effort) to 1. write a comment on this FF entry with their thoughts, 2. complain on GetSatisfaction, 3. file a complaint about it with Apple. Not much is requested of anyone here at all.
- Tamar Weinberg
Oh that sucks, I wonder why that doesn't bother more people? Maybe a lot of people don't listen to iTunes while they're multi-tasking?
- Trish R
I'm going to try this as soon as I finish charging. I played WAY too much Fieldrunners on my Touch today.
- ha3rvey (doink doink)
You'd think they would, Trish, since the iPod to me is a music player with apps on it.
- Tamar Weinberg
I see you asked the question to Apple 7 months ago - any response from Apple?
- Geer
Geer, no. :( I reposted tonight. I emailed an Apple exec who said he'd pass it on. The 3.0 update didn't address it so I decided it's time to revisit the issue. Apple doesn't give a damn about users, I guess..
- Tamar Weinberg
I posted this on Apple's forums with a single link to Apple's feedback site on the apple.com domain and they removed it and emailed me saying: "Your post, "Apps should NOT turn off Music," has been removed from Apple Discussions as it contains a poll, a petition or links to one." uh, ok?
