"The Federal Aviation Administration revoked the licenses of two Northwest Airlines pilots Tuesday in an extraordinary letter in which the agency chastised the pair, saying they endangered the public by flying an hour and half without contacting controllers "while you were on a frolic of your own.""

For some reason, this is just really making me mad. Yes, these guys made a major mistake on the job. Fire them from Northwest and put a permanent reprimand in their record or something. Revoke their licenses, though? That seems to be really harsh. How many other people make huge mistakes on their jobs without having their professional licenses revoked? Are people out for blood or what?

If things had gone by the book, the airplane might have been shot down by the military. Revoked licenses seem fair to me, all things considered.

i agree with J., these two got off easy...and their passengers lucked out. considering the possible litigation against them, tho, i think the shit storm is just starting.

Whatever they were doing, they put a lot of people in danger – both passengers and people on the ground (if the plane crashed or got shot down). I wouldn't want them flying any plane that I was riding.

It snowed today! Just a little, but there was definitely a snow carpet on the ground when I woke up this morning. <3 <3 <3
My sister has challenged me to give up my sugar habit until Thanksgiving. No cookies, cake, muffins, chocolate, quick breads, candy, etc. I think it may be harder than quitting smoking, but I'm gonna try. :-)
We're both doing it, so at least I'll have moral support. I swear sugar is like a drug to me. Being 6 months pregnant with insane cravings does not help.

I've done it before. And cut starches out at the same time. It's easier to go cold turkey than to be gradual about it because any cheating fuels a blood sugar peak-crash loop. Good luck!

Oh no! But I thought the best part of being pregnant was being able to indulge!!
- Jess
LOL To a point. I think I've gone above and beyond that several times over. ;-)

Well, I am super nervous about it because I crave sugary stuff all the time, but I think cold turkey is definitely the way to go. Unfortunately, this means I have to give up two things I love: chocolate and baking. :-(

a supplement called 5-HTP can help reduce the cravings, you can get it at any health food store

One of my professors was/is a member of Information Society. :D (Oh, and the opening sample of the song? That's Dr. McCoy :)

Me too. :-) It's amazing how much the little things do it for me. Some people take time to smell the roses...me? I like watching the little birdies forage.

I saw one of them a few days ago, quite unexpectedly. Made my day.

He's long gone now and I was too caught up in the moment at the time, so... LOL I am terrible about taking pictures of birds. Animal behavior is definitely one of my favorite subjects so I get a kick out of just observing animals doing their thing. I would make a horrible wildlife photographer.

"Patients prescribed marijuana for medical purposes and their licensed suppliers "will not be a priority" of federal prosecutors in states that have legalized the practice, the Justice Department said Monday."

"What is it about weird antelopes? Gerenuk, you are so adorable, yet so terrifying, like a Disney character that ends up torturing Bambi's mother while Bambi watches. You have a normal torso, but other than that I am creeped out by literally everything else about you."
