The distinction between "working for the company" and "acting as the company" is incredibly important and something most newcomers to social media don't get. All it takes is one slip-up from a person for the latter to backfire spectacularly. If a person is going to represent the company in social media, they need to have the same responsibility and ability to get things done that they would offline. Relegating the management of your brand to just anyone in the company is bad, bad, bad. - Mark Trapp
