Seriously folks, I think we've found a great new service. I hope you all at least give it a fair chance (when you get your invite of course). It's very slick, it's very FriendFeed-friendly (very similar to our beloved FF) and has users, lots of them and they are all interacting with each other and posting on all sorts of topics.
- Kol Tregaskes
Yeah, but all I see is the same useless noise (crap) wrapped in a new candy wrapper. Slightly better features is fine, but unless it exponentially improves what has been said, it's just pixie dust on a dog turd
- Johnny
I was impressed how well the hanging out feature worked.
- Mike Nencetti
Waiting for Google to honour the invite i was sent.... grrrr
- Roberto Bonini
I'm waiting for importing and exporting. And for the folks with a terrible combination of ADHD and OCD to get sick of it and leave, or to calm the hell down.
- Victor Ganata
from iPhone
Johnny, I see no noise. I use Google+'s circles (which are just FriendFeed-like friends lists).
- Kol Tregaskes
Victor, I can't see that happening. It's all native and I think Google will stick to that. Possibly a good thing as it avoids everything simply importing their tweets, leaving and not using the service. You actually have to be active on Google+.
- Kol Tregaskes
Kol. I have lists/circles set up too. I just see the same stuff there that I do here. And I'm not going to do all the work for no real benefit. And they better do something about import cause if it's just Google native, i don't want it. It has to be a central hub, not a closed garden
- Johnny
from iPhone
I can't wait to get an invite! It's about time someone else gave Facebook a run for their money, they have become complacent and arrogant and have had no competition up until now.
- Technogran
You know, perhaps you guys are right and should just stay over here( please). Victor, make sure you give your customary block when you there. Jesus.
- Joe
from YouFeed
The feature missing is the ability to import from any random site (using either custom importers or RSS/Atom). Without that, it's just another gated-garden (not quite a walled-garden, but G+ wants you to create your content on G+ it seems). I create content all over the internet, not just one one site.
- Andy Bakun
FF's import feature is nice but when I look back on the best conversations I've had at FF, they're the ones that started on FF (or the bookmarklet), not the ones imported from Twitter/Tumblr/Flickr/Reader/etc. The imported items seem to generate less interesting conversations.
- Amit Patel
One major flaw is that not even Google Reader (which is a major source of interesting conversations for me) imports into Google+, which just seems absurd. I don't see the benefit of moving from Facebook to Google+ if it's going to be more of a silo than Facebook is.
- Victor Ganata
But they'll definitely import from Buzz some time, no? And Buzz does import from whatever else..
- Ruchira S. Datta
I hope so. The potential for Google to tightly integrate all its products seems like it would be a huge selling point, but the beta certainly isn't there yet. Google+ doesn't even have search!
- Victor Ganata
Honestly, it feels like a real beta. Not a Google beta where they just leave the label on, but a real, not-ready-for-prime-time beta.
- Alex Scrivener
Very much agree Victor. Google reader is a big source of interesting conversations. I'm much less likely to read something in GR and then manually go to G+ and post a link. The browser note facility isn't perfect, but it's simple and immediate.
- Todd Hoff
I have a feeling Google+ is going to have search. Intersecting search with circles may be tricky and has to be done perfectly...
- Ruchira S. Datta
I think it's too early to say "it doesn't have this and that and therefore it's of no interest." The question is are they committed enough to G+ to improve it and add some of these requested features (which they didn't do with Buzz). The things they've done so far they've done quite well, which is promising. A better share mechanism from GReader and other sites would be great (could be...
- Jandy
Oh, Google+ is certainly compelling. But is it going to make me abandon Facebook/Twitter/Friendfeed given its current feature set? Most definitely no. The devs seem to be way more responsive to suggestions compared to Buzz, but I honestly can't remember a major Google product that wasn't almost completely perfect out-of-the-box. I supposed I've been spoiled because of their previous misuse of the term "beta" :)
- Victor Ganata
G+ is very good, but I still find myself comparing it to FF. And while dev here has stalled for the last year. It just goes to show you how strong they were before that both FB & G+ are emulating large portions of FF's environment.
- Bluesun 2600
FF (like Soylent Green) is actually made of people. Just add your FF into an FF circle and pretend it's the new beta. Re: Twitter, NOVWL.
- Goran Zec
I still find FF's UI (Helvetica theme w/ adblocked banner) superior to anything. And the real time stream is crazy impressive years later. And it seems bug free and the search works these last few months. But material up to 2009. no longer seems accessible through search, there is no archive, animated gifs should work from anyplace and not just soup.io and new social services are not being added. It's decaying gracefully thanks to good engineering, but it's dead nonetheless.
- Goran Zec

While I am thinking of it: why I really like Paul Buchheit? He has given the world some amazing, innovative and elegant software, much of which I have used with great pleasure. Thanks, Paul!

#3 - didn't look at comments before I answered, but I was tempted! Never met you in person but either #1or #3 seem the most like the person I *think* you are.

Now looking at comments - this is a very cool game! We draw so many conclusions when looking at a photo!

"With many asserting that Google+ is heavily Facebook influenced, Facebook engineers Vladimir Kolesnikov, Peng Fan, Zahan Malkani, Brian Rosenthal have flipped the switch and taken inspiration from the novel Google Circles design with Circlehack, a much simpler tool to build Facebook Friend lists."

Kesha's brother is ready to upgrade so he sold this to us for dirt cheap. Kesha's been jokingly telling her brothers they need to GIVE her their cameras for years. Sure it's entry level but all of the reviews I've read (including some from professional photographers) rave about it. I'm excited. I haven't used an SLR since college (12 years ago. Dang it's been that long?). My Minolta film SLR is sitting in my closet collecting dust. Now I (ahem) we have a DSLR to play around with. I'm excited!

"We implemented SSL False Start in Chrome 9, and the results are stunning, yielding a significant decrease in overall SSL connection setup times. SSL False Start reduces the latency of a SSL handshake by 30%1. That is a big number. And reducing the cost of a SSL handshake is critical as more and more content providers move to SSL."

Google keeps trying to make the web faster!
- Amit Patel
I'm not for all of Google's attempts to make it faster. Doesn't SPDY forgo HTTP as a text-based protocol to a more binary format? I'm not in favor of that in the name of performance.
- Andy Bakun
As far as I can tell (and I haven't experimented with SPDY at all so I might be mistaken) HTTP runs on top of SPDY sort of like how vi runs on top of screen+ssh. Yes, the data going over TCP is binary but the application is using HTTP, with slight modifications. The SPDY layer gives multiplexing, compression, encryption. I don't know if it'll get adopted. The SSL False Start thing is separate, for standard HTTPS, and it seems like a big win for so little work, and I hope it works out.

Benioff is a master on the earnings calls. The way he handles the analysts is a lesson of itself. Check out the Q&A transcript: http://seekingalpha.com/article...

Robert: I emailed you early this week but I guess you were way too busy with your schedule.
- Nir Ben Yona
Robert, it's ok we're in contact with Lew Moorman.
- Nir Ben Yona
Pickering: LNKD's revenue is primarily from corporate recruiting budgets, not end users or advertising.
- coldbrew
valuation is too high, they'll have to work hard to keep their value during next Q's
- Naor Mark
Going pubic or being bought out shouldn't mean the Friendfeeding of a service; It should be the boost to the next level, not the buying of a boat for someone who doesn't care about you.
- Aron Michalski
Ah, IC, still it gives them exposure that Facebook really doesn't need
- Stephen Pickering
Groupon 2011 revenues said to be pacing at 3-4B, 70% operatng margins
- Dave Martin
Coldbrew is right. LNKD has a good mix of revenue sources from corporate including biz subscriptions and advertising.

South Park looks like it's in its last season and the creators may go on to do something direct to the web (that's all I know about TV shows :).

Hypothetically, what if you gave a friend your HBO/Dish credentials, could they then watch GO?
- Stephen Pickering
X- that $14 a month just for them is the key...
- Aron Michalski
for me, BD on linkedin is happening for several years, much more then on other platforms
- Naor Mark
I can afford $14 over $150 (because I'm NOT giving up my internet) ... ;-)
- Xenophrenia
HBO would cost me a additional 50 bucks a month due to the package BS

Won't bet against Reid Hoffman, LinkedIn founder. Early funder of Facebook, Zynga others.
- Dave Martin
Every time I try to reprice my bundle it lkeeps getting closer to $200 a month; I just wish that would follow me world wide. Alas, they all want a bite.

Reid is very smart. I once flew home in a private plane with him, great times.

You can post tweets selectively to LinkedIn by inserting #in in your post (after you set permission to connect with Twitter on the LinkedIn account).
- Alex de Soto
Robert: Reid was also one of the first believers to put money into Groupon
- Dave Martin
Alex: yup, I just shoved all my tweets over there and no one complained.
- Robert Scoble
Alex: yes, doing so sometimes, but mainly around business context, not personal
- Naor Mark
the quality that Facebook and Twitter have is cohesiveness ... but they are also traps into a system that is very hard to 'get out of' pretty much because of inertia of numbers
- Xenophrenia
Bravos, Steve, Tina and gang. Great show.

Uh oh, BG - I disabled Home Feed emails about 3 hours ago, old ones still came in (ok) but new ones have started to come in since (some as of just 5 minutes ago)

What about Twitter? Mine's still broken - my FF posts are published at Twitter but my Twitter messages doesn't publish at FF. There are lots more like me.
- @barisunver #beyn.org
Stop about Twitter, please. Let's focus on email, because there's a semi-serious issue still pending.
- Christopher Galtenberg
They should have the same importance. You don't seem to have a Twitter problem and I don't have an email notification problem. That doesn't mean that one problem is more/less important than the other.

Credulous story about psychic helps me boycott CNN and find new news site (was: Psychic helps the jobless find new careers) - CNN.com - http://www.cnn.com/2011...
Worst "news" story ever. From the story: "If you take your date of birth and digit it down to a single number, you come up with the energy of what you have come to be in the world through your path, your work," she says. "I help people see what that means in their life."

CNN, you should be ashamed. This ridiculous woman takes advantage of people who are suffering in a terrible economy, and you just gave her a huge advertisement.
- Stephen Mack #TeamMomo
I call upon everyone to boycott CNN for running this ridiculous one-sided piece of anti-scientific bullshit.
- Stephen Mack #TeamMomo
What can I do if already don't watch CNN?
- Todd Hoff
At some point between this morning and a few minutes ago they changed the headline from "Psychic helps the jobless find new careers" to "Business is booming for psychic career counselor" but there's still nothing to point out that her numerology-based approach and hokum about "soul missions" is about as trustworthy as snake oil.
- Stephen Mack #TeamMomo
Todd, you can tell your friends who do watch CNN or who read cnn.com to join the boycott until CNN stops printing breathless nonsense about psychic scam artists.
- Stephen Mack #TeamMomo
I can't digit my birth date down to a single number. My energy, like an amp in Spinal Tap, goes up to 11.
- Dan: Bibrarian
11? Dan, my psychic powers tell me you should be a psychic scam artist who gets profiled in CNN. I promise you enormous profits off the backs of desperate suckers seeking guidance.
- Stephen Mack #TeamMomo
Oh I guide people every day! I tell them EXACTLY where they can go and what they can do when they get there, yet they seem to get all upset with me. Maybe it's my delivery? :)
- Dan: Bibrarian
Dan: Try charging them $200 an hour for your guidance. That should help.

I really REALLY want to see the northern lights. I've been told you can seem them from our area from time to time. So neat. That shot is gorgeous.

SAM, I got to experience them once in Alaska (and once from the window of a plane, that was cool but not as good), it was the most amazing experience ever! Definitely one of my top 10 sites ever!! I hope someday to do a trip planned around getting to see them again. The way they move is just incredible. I highly recommend trying to see them if you are able!!
