The long-term deflation in Japanese prices has been nothing if not stunning. Japan has always been a great contrast to the U.S. - something tells me the comparison could prove extremely valuable at this juncture.

No, Obama is a change. He lies in a boldfaced fashion that I have not yet witnessed. Perhaps none of us have. He's truly an extraordinary, well, liar.

This is one of the more interesting phenomena associated with the recent downturn. I'll have to spend more time thinking about the implications, but the data appear to reflect much of what we've come to accept (rightly or wrongly) about the risk-taking and reward-seeking nature of men and women.

Look, the data couldn't be more clear - EVERY state with a government run, or "universal" healthcare system (read: universally mediocre and dignity killing), rations care with impunity. Canadians in particular love to bemoan the barbaric nature of our healthcare system, right until they get shipped to Buffalo for treatment they can't get back home. The folly of the Left is stunning in its sheer, dense, scale here.

It's going to continue to fall for the foreseeable future. That's not to say that a month here or there won't see an increase. But unemployment will continue to rise, CRE will hit, and the foreclosure wave will wipe out an entire generation of spenders. Not that I'm pessimistic or anything...

Now all Google needs to do is acquire Salesforce.com, and then the "extracurricular" stuff they do will actually, you know, generate cash...(and make SME's lives MUCH, MUCH better)

Roubini is right on with this stuff, but I wonder whether he's sandbagging it with his 11% peak unemployment figure. I haven't modeled it out, but my gut seems to feel 15% I higher could well be in order...

Interesting considering the majority of the populace no longer supports her nomination (see Rassmussen). Proof again that the congressional GOP is filled with incompetent cowards.

That 213 default figure is much higher than I'd read elsewhere. I'll say it again - the hotel industry is rife with inefficiency and is financed in haphazard fashion. Which means that someone will end up making a fortune out of all the carnage.

Given that nothing Plans A or B have done nothing to help the economic situation - quite the contrary, really - I'm highly doubtful that Plan C will head off the bad run of economic events that are in the post...
