OHIO MAN BRIBED BY ACORN ACTIVISTS TO REGISTER TO VOTE 72 TIMES - New York Post

But it's absolutely irrelevant to this election that Barack Obama worked extensively with this organization during his vaunted time as a community organizer. Anyone who says otherwise is clearly a racist. - Forrest Cox via Bookmarklet
During the primary season, however, the Obama camp paid another group, Citizen Service Inc., $832,598 for various political services, according to Federal Elections Commission filings. That group and ACORN share the same board of directors. - Forrest Cox

If that's all it ends up being I'll be shocked. It's also important to take into account the long-term effect on the dollar as a reserve currency - the flight to quality we're currently witnessing, with the dollar representing "quality", seems bound to be short lived... - Forrest Cox

"The government's capriciousness is legion: Fannie (FNM Quote - Cramer on FNM - Stock Picks) and Freddie (FRE Quote - Cramer on FRE - Stock Picks) "are well capitalized," then they are seized. Bear is too big to fail at $300 billion in debt, Lehman is not too big to fail at $700 billion. Washington Mutual gets seized for bad loans, but Downey (DSL Quote - Cramer on DSL - Stock Picks) and BankUnited (BKUNA Quote - Cramer on BKUNA - Stock Picks) are allowed to keep playing with their toxic loans. And now that Wells Fargo (WFC Quote - Cramer on WFC - Stock Picks) and Citigroup (C Quote - Cramer on C - Stock Picks) want to pay more for Wachovia (WB Quote - Cramer on WB - Stock Picks) than the FDIC ever thought it was worth shows you that the FDIC is every bit as incompetent as the Fed and capricious as the Treasury. You did not need government assistance to sell WB. That's an outrage, especially given the Sept. 29 tax law change that allows Wells to take a huge tax deduction on all of Wachovia's bad mortgages " - Forrest Cox via Bookmarklet

Prediction: This won't matter one damned bit. The media will not cover the fact that Biden manages to seem competent on the issues because he can flat out lie about them while remaining perfectly composed. His performance last night was a disgrace - would only some of those who hate Sarah Palin so much take a harder look at their own VP candidate... - Forrest Cox via Bookmarklet
Of course you won't find any list like that against Palin because she didn't say ANYTHING of substance. :) - Alex "Pew Pew Pew" Scoble
Oh, now THAT links to a credible source. No thanks. - JodyUnwired
hear hear alex - Cee Bee
A politician lies... well I for one am shocked! - John Worthington
I'd love to see anyone address the Sen. Biden Lies. Unfortunately, I think the supporters of Sen. Biden and Sen. Obama know there is no way to refute the facts. - Paul W. Swansen
Most of us don't say we hate Sarah Palin - we just think she's horrifyingly unqualified for the job. - Tad - the Fresh Maker
Sure there is, research them. Don't rely on right- or left-wing bloggers, and for goodness sake, don't link to campaign websites. - JodyUnwired
A right wing politician's website declaring it knows the truth is about as reliable as anything out of Newsmax.com. Or the Star, even (I was going to say National Enquirer, but even THEY get it right once in a while). - Mavericks of Troy, NV!
Hilarious - a link directly to John McCain's website containing supposed facts. I personally don't hate Sarah Palin. I am just extremely uncomfortable with her ignorance, and I hate the fact that a large minority of Americans will actually vote for a ticket with her on it. - Sean O'Maverick
Paul - Well I can dispell the first one. Obama said he would meet with the leaders of Iran. And he has correctly distinguished Ahmedinijad from the people controlling Iran. Iran is the absolutely controlled by the Religious leaders and meeting with Ahmedinijad would be like meeting with our Speaker of the House. - Andrew Burd
Nice Andrew! - Brad Nickel
+1 Alex, +1 Andrew. And if we're going to talk about VP lies... I think Palin is the one who comes out looking worse. - Alexander Carlill
Again, you actually have to say something to lie. Since she didn't say anything or answer any of the questions... - Alex "Pew Pew Pew" Scoble
Good point - but I'm sure that when the McCain campaign finally manages to teach her basic English she'll use it to lie. - Alexander Carlill
+700 billion to Yolanda. - Alix Whitmire
Oh here's another one that is false - McCain's healthcare proposal does increase taxes on businesses, which is what Biden said. Read about it here - http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05... - Andrew Burd
Andrew, you're forgetting that the NYT is part of the dangerous 'liberal media'... - Alexander Carlill
@Alex - au contraire - I think she was horrendous on the economy, and dropped the ball routinely when she could have simply killed him on everything from healthcare to (yes) foreign policy. You are right, though - she wasn't substantive... - Forrest Cox
@JodyC - I agree it's less-than-optimal to link to something on the campaign's website - but the facts there stand for themselves. There's surprisingly little spin in that piece; Biden just flat out lied his a$$ off, and is getting taken to task by the other side for it. - Forrest Cox
I think the correct term is "spin", Forrest...and you know what they say about people who live in glass houses...aside from that crack about being able to see Russia from there. - Alex "Pew Pew Pew" Scoble
@Andrew - perhaps you should actually do some research before stating that you can "dispel" something: http://bit.ly/4stHgM - Forrest Cox
John McCain has been full of crap for months, sometimes reversing his position within the same interview, if not the same day and spreading lies with near universal condemnation. Because he's been full of crap, I have no interest in giving his campaign website the benefit of the doubt. - Sean O'Maverick
I believe I was just pwned. Having said that, I think his point is still strong. We should meet with anyone if we can have a productive dialogue. - Andrew Burd
this is such a load of crap i can't help but snicker - Cee Bee
I wish that one of these "voter alert" things would get wonky and do things such as cite specific bills and language in bills. Allegations of lies need to be factually supported, rather than just stating that someone lied. - Ontario Emperor
Forrest, the facts stand there BY themselves. I respect your opinion, but really - Palin and foreign policy? Come on dude, get real. - JodyUnwired
@Alex - re: Glass houses & Russia - lol (& touche) - Forrest Cox
@JodyC - I have no idea what you're talking about, sorry. I didn't say that Palin was substantive on foreign policy - in fact, you'll notice that I'm not defending her or her positions - quite the opposite. I don't think she's a particularly strong candidate. What I am pointing out is that Biden, for all his "experience" has a "habit" (some would say penchant) for lying and getting caught in the act. And that's a fact. - Forrest Cox
@Alex - actually, were it any other politician I would probably agree and say "spin" is a more appropriate term. But Biden does this with such alarming regularity (& I'm not just talking "open mouth insert foot" moments here) that it's shocking. He's been around. He knows events. And yet, he misconstrues "evidence" in ways that would make Dickie Scruggs shrivel. - Forrest Cox
Biden is supposedly the expert on foreign policy and he was wrong 7 times in 60 seconds about Lebanon, Israel, Hezbollah, FRANCE. Does he even pay attention when he audits foreign policy on his committee as an observer? I was embarrassed for him he was wrong so many times. - Peter Simard
I don't hate Mrs. Winky. Darn it, I would take her as our babysitter. - ※Fu※

"Biden is telling absurd lies about Afghanistan tonight. In particular, he's repeatedly claimed that "we've spent less in Afghanistan in seven years than we spend in a month in Iraq." He's made that claim, or claims to that effect, repeatedly. It is, to put it bluntly, a complete Goddamned lie. According to the Congressional Research Service, spending on the war in Afghanistan since 2001 has been $172 Billion. Spending in Iraq is, as the Democrats repeatedly mention, a little under $10 Billion a month. In other words, Biden's number is off by, oh, something like 2000%. Perhaps Obama's Sub-Committee ought to have held some hearings on Afghanistan after all." - Forrest Cox via Bookmarklet

"How much poverty has endured because individual entrepreneurs were shunned in favor of the likes of the $5 billion state-owned Ajaokuta Steel Mill in Nigeria, which never produced a bar of steel? Or because African governments spend their time preparing World Bank-required national Poverty Reduction Strategy Reports instead of freeing space for innovators? We will never know. But we do know that the free market has a long-run track record of creating prosperity -- even with the occasional crash. The Depression's deceptive intellectual legacy is that development flows from all-knowing states rather than creative individuals. Here's hoping that the backlash to today's crash will not spawn another round of bad economics for the poor." - Forrest Cox via Bookmarklet

"The moderator of Thursday's vice-presidential debate is writing a book to come out about the time the next president takes the oath of office that aims to "shed new light" on Democratic candidate Barack Obama and other "emerging young African American politicians" who are "forging a bold new path to political power."" - Forrest Cox via Bookmarklet
Washington Times - EXCLUSIVE: Pelosi paid husband with PAC funds
September 30 at 9:26 pm - via Bookmarklet - Link
"Financial Leasing Services Inc. (FLS), owned by Paul F. Pelosi, has received $99,000 in rent, utilities and accounting fees from the speaker's "PAC to the Future" over the PAC's nine-year history. The payments have quadrupled since Mr. Pelosi took over as treasurer of his wife's committee in 2007, Federal Election Commission records show. FLS is on track to take in $48,000 in payments this year alone - eight times as much as it received annually from 2000 to 2005, when the committee was run by another treasurer." - Forrest Cox via Bookmarklet
