"Kornel is playing on one of his favorite instruments. The nyckelharpa is a traditional Swedish instrument that has been played, in one form or another as it evolved, for more than 600 years.."

"What the article doesn't mention - that 20-40 tanker trucks a day (Monday-Friday) were offloaded into the Koch - Delmita trucking station (formerly Exxon's operation) and went up the Kelsey Bass pipeline. Everyone around here knows it - from the Border Patrol agent in the brush to the 5-year-old waiting for the school bus. We are in the middle of no where and a parade of tanker trucks weekly thru the middle of ExxonMobil leases in broad daylight and then on to 1017 and 2295 with Mexican plates and some even clearly painted PEMEX - are not invisible."

"MALTRATA, MEXICO -- Drug traffickers employing high-tech drills, miles of rubber hose and a fleet of stolen tanker trucks have siphoned more than $1 billion worth of oil from Mexico's pipelines over the past two years, in a vast and audacious conspiracy that is bleeding the national treasury, according to U.S. and Mexican law enforcement officials and the state-run oil company."

"Citigroup Inc. will suspend foreclosures and evictions for 30 days in a temporary break for about 4,000 borrowers during the holiday season. The New York-based bank said Thursday the suspension will run from Friday through Jan. 17. It applies only to borrowers whose loans are owned by Citi. Borrowers who make payments to Citi but whose loans are owned by other investors are out of luck."

The suspension means Citi will halt foreclosure sales and stop evicting homeowners from properties it has already seized. The company projects it will help 2,000 homeowners with scheduled foreclosure sales and another 2,000 that were due to receive foreclosure notices.

All of us have a responsibility to acknowledge and address the gross acts of discrimination and violence against women that occur every day. Here are some well-known examples:

I gotz the Chrizmaz spirit today. Melinda took me to lunch after her neurologist appointment. When we asked for our check, our waiter said that someone else picked it up.
I know we are kind of a spectacle - either disgusting or sweet. I took Melinda out to dinner the first time that we met 12 yrs ago. When our dinner arrived, It dawned on me that she can't feed herself. After twelve years, it's become very comfortable, we even share the silverware (ok, maybe disgusting, but have you ever tried swapping forks between each bite)

Not changing all the strings at once? How come?
- SAM
SAM, I broke one A string, so I replaced those. I'll replace the rest tomorrow. I usually replace them all, but I do it in pairs to not release all the tension on the neck and top. I hate having to reset the bridge when it moves

i've always wanted a mandolin, but i'm so guitar-centric...i spend all that sort of money on guitar things. i'd love to diversify, tho.

Joe, I can make you a deal on a F style Michael Kelly barely used.
- Greg Guitarbuster
Me too Joe... I've tried em and they're fun. Really small for my hands, but I'm sure I could get used to it. (Noting all those huge guys with gnarly beards that play them in bluegrass bands.) And Greg, good to hear you're evening them out tomorrow. That would have bugged me all night. :)

My next door neighbor (#1) came over yesterday. She's having disagreements with my other next door neighbor (#2). Neighbor #2 says that neighbor #1 has problems with everyone in the neighborhood and is confrontational and abusive. Would I sign her petition stating whether I have had problems with her (neighbor #1).
ack! I'd stay well away from any of that.
- Call me Bronco
Until recently, #1 had some relatives living at her house. There were a lot of people coming and going at all hours of the day and night. Now you may remember my previous posts. Once, we had 5 squad cars show up because someone was waving a firearm. A US Marshal came to my house looking for 3 teens that had been reported living next door. 2 squad cars showed up to arrest the 14 and 15 yo for murder in a drive-by shooting of a 16 yo girl.

I would like to stay out of it, but I live here. I have no doubt that my policeman neighbor is giving her lots of extra attention. I don't know if that amounts to harassment. I don't want gang members living next door to me. This isn't like online, I can't just block and ignore. What do other people think?
- Greg Guitarbuster
I would stay out of it. But I would probably anonymously tell the policeman that she came by. It's strange that she came by with a petition and wanted you to state right then and there whether you have a problem with her or not. It's backing you into a corner, which is not a neighborly thing to do.
- Jason Huebel
So this is an hour later. Did you sign or did you just send her on her way?
- Jason Huebel
I think I'd do what Jason suggested. I certainly wouldn't sign any petition. That would put you (and anyone else who signs as well) squarely in the middle of something you really don't need to be involved in. If she really feels that she is being harassed, she needs to take that up with the police department. From what you've described of the situation, it doesn't sound good. Be careful.

I told her that I hadn't had any problems with her personally, but that I was concerned about the crime and violence based on what's happened since she moved in.
- Greg Guitarbuster
yes, the crime and violence are issues that affect you and melinda which i think you're helpless to do anything about except to wait - waiting is never easy but i have a feeling that in this case your no good neighbor will find themselves forced to move as i'm quite certain has happened many times, most likely because someone was after them -

my family knew a man who restored about 15 antique cars and built separate garages for each one - it was a magnificent sight to see - i don't know what happened to the cars after he died - i believe his son was administering his estate - billy, his son, loves nearby and recently came over to pick up some firewood - i wanted to ask him about the cars but somehow felt it would be too ghoulish -

Three days after Sweetwater performed on The Red Skelton Show, singer Nancy Nevins was hurt badly in a car accident, which stopped the progress of the band. Due to the accident, Nancy experienced brain damage for a number of years following the collision, and permanent damage to one of her vocal cords.
- Greg Guitarbuster
there's a lot of suffering behind this story, isn't there?
- sally stokhamer
Apparently so. Their first album was one of my favorites and I wondered what happened to them. Nancy was hit by a drunk driver and was in a coma for weeks. She says that it took 12 years to recover including learning how to sing again.
