been waiting for this for a long time. Now you can seamlessly browse Cooliris in a browser tab enabling you to cmd-click / ctl-click images and have them load in background tabs to fave/comment/etc later. This new release is really great news.
- Thomas Hawk
LOL, they don't have a version that works with 3.5 currently that I can find. So you have to wait a little longer on that. I love the app though, and was so excited to see this.
- Jimminy IS Everybody
Humm. Seems that its only works in browser view, if you hit the fullscreen view and do the command click it closes out and goes back to normal. Still opens the tab behind though. So, almost there for me :)
- Simon Wicks
and i just realised you said browse in a browser tab... Silly me :(
- Simon Wicks
BTW, Thomas...have you used the Slideshow on Flickr to browse contacts? I would do that and fav from it.
- Kreg Steppe
I have Kreg, this is far better than Slideshow. The ability to increase both size and speed with the mouse is massive. I've seen nothing on the web more visually enticing for photos than Cooliris.
- Thomas Hawk
I agree Thomas. I have used Coloris in the past. I love it...and it is more useful now.
- Kreg Steppe
from email
Thanks for the info. I had it once but didn't find it useful, the new version looks much more useful. About the hyperlink: if it takes you to a page that tries to get you to use cooliris than it best be used in moderation. When photoplow started up and encouraged chatters to post comments to photos with the line "seen in a discussion on photoplow" there were spam complaints in the help...

- Theresa
Yeah, I hear you Theresa, but browsing a pool/set/etc using it is just so damn beautiful and now that they've got the cmd/click piece down it makes it fully operable as a way to both browse photos and interact. It might be hard for me to resist posting links to great sets/pools/etc. with it. Here's another GREAT view, the DMU saved photos pool: http://www.cooliris.com/tab...
- Thomas Hawk
I tried it once before and found its operation kind of clunky, even though it is very visually appealing. I'll have to give the new version another try.
- John (bird whisperer)
John the new version feels smooth as a silk.
- Thomas Hawk
Now if I could just get it to default back to fullscreen instead of a tab, I'd be real happy. Been using Cooliris for a long time. Changed the way I browse the web.
- mike fabio
Thx for this, cooliris is a wonderful tool!
- timepilot
i used cooliris back in the day, but i think ill need to install this again...
- Cass
Thanks for posting, Thomas! Good to have you back on Cooliris - we hope we can keep rolling out releases that you and everyone else will love :) And for those of you who may have been experience FF3.5 compatibility problems with Cooliris, please go back to our site and download Cooliris again. That should take care of any problems.
- Cooliris
For pages that have 2 Media RSS feeds, Cooliris 1.9 would find the one with id="gallery". That feature was handy because you could have one blog-style feed with media and another slideshow-optimized feed. The feature is missing in 1.10 and 1.11. Will it return in a future release?
- Bruce Lewis
from fftogo
I must be missing something... how do i integrate flickr into cooliris? as in, how do i view a photostream or set?
- thekillingjoke
Bruce, not sure at the moment, but we'll be keeping that in mind. I'll submit it as a feature request!
- Cooliris
I absolutely LOVE Cool Iris -- secret: make your PowerPoint slides image files and zip thru your preso with Cool Iris and watch your audience's jaws drop on the conf. rm table :)
- Susan Beebe
Impressive. Great way to view photos on Facebook too.
- Mike Doeff
They still haven't implemented the one or two features which I consider most important. 1. The ability to Fav (on Flickr) a photo without leaving the Cooliris interface. 2. The ability to comment on a photo (on Flickr) without having to leave the Cooliris interface. Having to bounce in and out of Cooliris, even if just between browser tabs is very disruptive.
- TranceMist
TranceMist, hear you loud and clear - will also add to feature request. We love your feedback/ideas about Cooliris so keep it coming! :)
- Cooliris
Is there a way to make Cooliris open a picture in a new tab just by control clicking the main picture? The only way I can get the new tab feature to work is to control click on the tiny arrow at lower right...
- Sam Posten
Sam - yes, clicking the arrow icon is still the way to launch Cooliris. We'll look into the ctrl click you suggested!
- Cooliris
I'll admit that I don't know enough about their individual playing or business styles to choose between the two. If I got that question, I'd probably hem and haw about having a well-balanced life in which you can both pursue your profession and pursue your interests.
- John E. Bredehoft
I heard on the radio Venus is on a streak. So I'll root for her.
- Rodfather
I disagree. I'd say the answer is probably Serena. Power FTW
- Keith - @tsudo
the answer will be decided later today, right now, tied @ 5-apiece...
- chaz2b
John ...hahaha! that's why i ask it. I just want to see what someone will do with the question. the most creative answer i got was: "Verena." Another applicant, who earlier had indicated that tennis was one of her interests, completely waffled on the question; she got hired, though, and turned out to be, you guessed it, a waffler when it comes to on-the-job decisions. You should try asking this question if you have the chance. ;)
- .LAG liked that
As far as actual tennis goes, I say Venus, because although she's less powerful than little sister, she's got better technique ...but @chaz2b is right: it will be decided later today.
- .LAG liked that
...so much for technique. power wins the day. congrats to SERENA!
- .LAG liked that
Was hoping Venus would take another there.

Don't check your schedule, check a calendar! Meet the Press has WTF guests Sam Nunn and Fred Thompson on http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id... What year we in?
"Massachusetts Democrat Barney Frank, along with co-sponsors Ron Paul (R-TX); Maurice Hinchey (D-NY); Dana Rohrbacher (R-CA); and Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), has reintroduced legislation to limit the federal government's authority to arrest and prosecute minor marijuana offenders. The measure, entitled an "Act to Remove Federal Penalties for Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults," would eliminate federal penalties for the personal possession of up to 100 grams (three and one-half ounces) of cannabis and for the not-for-profit transfer of up to one ounce of pot - making the prosecutions of these offenses strictly a state matter. Under federal law, defendants found guilty of possessing small amounts of cannabis for their own personal use face up to one year imprisonment and a $1,000 fine. Passage of this act would provide state lawmakers the choice to maintain their current penalties for minor marijuana offenses or eliminate them completely. Lawmakers would also have the option to explore legal alternatives to tax and regulate the adult use and distribution of cannabis free from federal interference."

hopefully this passes. The should decriminalize growing a few plants for personal use as well. Why not let people grow their own rather than make them go to dangerous places to buy their weed from criminals?
- Thomas Hawk
This is a good thing! Interestingly I see two of the sponsors are Republican.
- Jeff P. Henderson
Jeff, it's Ron Paul, so it's not too unusual. :)
- Michael Ryan
Geez, this is a slippery slope. First it's pot, then.... ;-) Hehe that was for you Bob Young. Actually I've only smoked pot about 3 times in my life but I think it needs to be decriminalized. It's no worse than alcohol in my opinion so yes, even though I am a conservative, I am in favor of this move...
- Todd Walker
@Michael and Bob - a significant majority of conservatives I know are in favor of decrim of some sort. It's not a one-party issue at all. From their point of view, small government and individual liberty means government not telling a free citizen what they can and cannot ingest.
- Anthony Citrano
This is going to save a lot of money.
- Mona Nomura
practice makes perfect! but i second the frying method. nuking can work (if you don't mind using a heap of paper towels!) but it also dries it out way too much. there is an important difference between crispy and desiccated!
- Hieronymous Thalidomide
I don't microwave anymore because it is such a pain to clean up. I'm trying the oven method. Frying bacon sucks -- I have spots on my forehead and forearms from the oil splatters LOL
- Mona Nomura
In a frying pan over medium low heat works great. Lower heat means less splatter. Just keep an eye on it and turn it as it cooks. Also, don't worry about having a heap of bacon in the pan. As the strips cook, they shrink enough and you can cook two or three layers of strips if you are careful. Mmmm bacon!
- Jeremy Brooks
@Mona: Use the baking meathod but line the tray with foil. That way you can let the grease cool, wrap up the foil and toss it. Makes clean up nice and easy.
- ChiliMac
Thanks for all the great advice, you guys. I wish I can 'like' my own posts.
- Mona Nomura
Better than sucking at eating it, eh?
- Ⓒⓗⓡⓘⓢ Ⓟⓘⓡⓘⓛⓛⓞ
How can you suck at eating bacon? Jeremy - that's waht I normally do...but it ends up a huge greasy mess. MM - do you prefer baking over microwaving?
- Mona Nomura
Use cast iron and be sure to save the grease to add to everything else you cook.
- Michael McKean
Actually, cooking bacon makes me not want to it LOL
- Mona Nomura
Haven't done this in ages, but, love using the bacon grease to fry up the eggs. NOM.
- Yolanda
Duck grease is also good for saving. Hmmmm.. I'm hungry.
- Michael McKean
Don't buy crappy bacon full of water. Get dry cured bacon. There will be less splattering, and very little shrinkage. It will also leave you with enough fat to cook your eggs in.
- Chris Nixon
I just bake it in the oven on a foil-lined cookie sheet for 7 mins at 350 deg F, flip, and then another 5 or 6 mins. Yes, it gets greasy from sitting in the rendered fat, but if you transfer to a paper-towel-lined plate and dab the tops with paper towels it doesn't take long at all to absorb the extra grease. The rack is a good idea for sure, but with my method I just get rid of the foil for one-step clean up. :)
- Cheryl Jones
As far as using bacon grease to cook eggs in, I just drain a tablespoon or so off of the cookie sheet into a frying pan (been using cast-iron lately) after I've flipped the bacon. Works out quite well.
- Cheryl Jones
Eggs don't like being cooked in anything but bacon grease. It's a fact.
- Michael McKean
Michael is right, save the bacon grease from your arms and forehead and use in place cooking oil.
- Curtis Burns
from BuddyFeed
Anyone know how long bacon grease keeps in the fridge? I've read that it's good to save the bacon grease for using in other recipes, but since I don't actually make much bacon, it'd take a while to save up a significant amount. Suggestions on the best way to store bacon grease?
- Cheryl Jones
It lasts a long time and you can freeze it if you're paranoid. Strain it first to remove any bits of flesh. You can store it in glass or tin, I suppose. My aunt used to have a ceramic jar shaped like a pig that she saved hers in.

I've read that the combination of duck & pork fat can be called "dork fat".
- Andrew C (✓)
I suck so much at it that I refuse to anymore. I can bring home the bacon, but Tad has to fry it up in a pan.
- Lindsay
You can't force it to cook. Have to stand back and let it Sizzle.
- Micah
@Christopher: Duck proscuitto is also way up there on the meat charts. The combination of the raw cured meat and the sweet, rich duck fat... oh man, I want some right now.
- Andrew C (✓)
Raw duck = double no thanks! It's way too game-y.
- Mona Nomura
I nuke bacon at home. Put two paper towels on a plate, layout bacon, cover with another towel, nuke for 1 minute per rasher, peel and eat.
- Robert Hafer
Wait. A strip of bacon is called a rasher??? WHOA. WHO KNEW?!
- Mona Nomura
Ya, the splatter is hard to clean and hte bacon ends up tasting like paper towel.
- Mona Nomura
Huh? How can something be turkey AND bacon? I thought bacon, by definition was always pork...
- Tyson Key
Here's a comparison of microwave vs pan vs broiler. http://bit.ly/palSq I prefer the pan method (I save the bacon fat). To prevent the bacon from sticking to the paper towel for the microwave method, spray the paper towel with PAM
- Just Ken
Sometimes at work I put bacon in the deep fryer.

"Some commenters seem to believe that because I am critical of the current conservative movement, I must be a liberal--maybe even a left-wing Democrat. To those commenters, disbelief in global warming, in the regulation of gun ownership, and in the criminalization of early as well as late abortions is a litmus test of "true" conservatism. There are, in fact, multiple conservatisms, as Becker and I have emphasized. Like Becker, I believe in limited government and so do not support government activities that cannot be justified convincingly by reference to considerations of economic prosperity, basic individual liberties, or domestic or national security. I do not favor the curtailment of individual liberties on the basis of religious beliefs, nostalgia for the "good old days," or traditional social beliefs (such as distaste for racial minorities or homosexuals) that cannot be related to economic, libertarian, or security values. One of Reagan's great political achievements was to unite...

The GOP is distinct from the Conservative Movement. Moving away from Conservatism, as in failing to cut spending when in power or nominating McCain for President, is what has the GOP in trouble.
- Robert Hafer
Robert Hafer: a number of factors have done in the GOP: attacks on U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, crony (corrupt) capitalism, embrace of police state culture, fiscal irresponsibility, hate radio, messianic and reckless foreign policy, neoconservatism, religious fundamentalism, subversion of the intelligence process, torture. It has been an amazing performance and decline. And they seem hell-bent on digging themselves deeper into the hole.
- Sean McBride
Sean, seven of the things you mention could also be said of the Democrat party. Eight if you include Global Warming as a religion. The truth is that more average Americans are Conservative than Liberal; if they have a party that represents that, they will vote for them.
- Robert Hafer
I happen to agree that the Democratic Party is as corrupt as the Republican Party. They enabled the Bush 43 administration and the neocons every step of the way (Nancy Pelosi is the poster girl for the problem). The United States is on the verge of a generalized political meltdown.
- Sean McBride
In the same way that the Carter admin enabled the election of Reagan. Obama may be paving the way for the next true Conservative President.

Rene Wirtz - It was, in fact, under Reagan that we experienced the longest peacetime economic expansion in the history of the US and this after double digit inflation and interest rates in the 20s and a recession (required to fix the inflation and high interest rates) that saw unemployment reach greater heights than it is today! It amazes me that you would try to suggest that today's...

Obama was elected primarily because the Dems managed to drill into everyone's head the equation McCain=Bush. Once that connection was made, it was all downhill for McCain, no matter what polls he chose to look at. While I am no neocon, even I wouldn't claim that neoconservatism illustrates an intellectual decline. Neoconservatism has its intellectual underpinnings, but like any other movement (including conservatism and liberalism), there are both intellectuals and anti-intellectuals associated with it.
- John E. Bredehoft
from fftogo
John -- most neoconservative "intellectuals," like Daniel Pipes, Richard Perle, Michael Ledeen and David Horowitz, seem to specialize in spewing hysterical anti-Muslim hate propaganda -- that's their entire schtick. They are intellectuals in the same way that Julius Streicher was an intellectual. They barely rise above the level of Michael Savage. The GOP and the conservative movement didn't used to be exclusively about ethnic xenophobia and religious extremism.

You might find 1 or 2 regs that have been changed in the last 20 years but the banking industry as a whole is the most regulated that we have, Pharmaceuticals might be close.
- Brian
The GOP is in trouble because it hasn't been conservative. Let the RINO's like McCain and all the other "progressives" leave. When the U.S. looks like California in another year or two, we'll see how many of you still want big government running things.
- Spencer
@Rene - One of the least regulated would have to be the Tech industry (one that you operate in), Maybe it is time to have the Gov focus on that industry?
- Brian
@Spencer - Good point, I live in CA and the weather seams to be it's only remaining attraction!
- Brian
The latest Gallup poll shows that party affiliation for republicans is the same as democrats, something that hasn't happened in many years. I think many people are realizing the "hope and change" BS was just that.

So, let me get this straight: after 8 years of vacation-presisdentin', two needless wars, a failure to bring to justice the perpetrators of 9/11, a total failure to assist the people of the Gulf Coast after one of the worst storms in living memory, a complete cock-up on every diplomatic front, a general nuttiness when it came to gays and guns, and the worst economic meltdown in 80 years - we needed MORE of this?!? Spencer, before this descends any further into 4th-grade insults, let me tell where I stand on political parties: I don't trust ANY of them. Not a one. Steven - Greed came from the Gov buddy, is fact! They created the entire market for Sub-Prime, they were threatening banks to do so! how come that market did not exist in the Reagan hay day of the 80s then?
- Brian
@Rene - There is a reason the market blossomed in the last 20 years and not in the last 30!
- Brian
@Rene- 1 thing you might have missed in the article is that even Fannie & Freddie refused to purchase in the Sub-Prime market in the early 90s
- Brian
@Rene - 1 last point, we do not argue that the free market does not have problems! they do! It is the left that REFUSE to acknowledge the Gov obvious huge influence here and that is going to lead to even bigger issues in the future, mark my words on that!
- Brian
@Rene - Here is where our philosophies go in separate directions, I believe that we can have a greater impact on the free market than we can on Gov and that we can navigate the effects the free market has on us with less impact than we can the Gov. When the Gov makes a law or reg there is no way around unless you have undue influence like a lot of the Big Corps have.
- Brian
@Rene - 1 thing I know for certain is, Big companies benefit by lots of regs and higher taxes due to the fact that they truly have less impact on them than they do their smaller competitors, higher taxes and more regs will benefit the status quo in the end!
- Brian
@Rene - No one on my side argues for NO regs, I believe that they should be minimal and necessary! And no, I do not want the Fed Gov to run the banks by proxy! Fannie & Freddie have proven what will come of that!

@Rene - How did this country of ours become the leading economy in a little over 200 years? I believe that freedom and liberty played a large role.

- Anika
Derrick - I think that, culinarily speaking, we might be compatible. I, too, prefer not to eat avocados or ranch. Avocados are migraine triggers and ranch is just gross.
- Katy S
I'm singing 2-pac. "avocado love..." avocado, knows how to party. A-vo-ca-do knows how to party.
- anna sauce
Can't get it to work, anyone have luck?
- Drew Lucas
After clicking to Twitter to approve Adium, you should get a new chat group called "Bookmarks" with the contact "Timeline (username)". Tweets of the people I follow show up there.

"Previously mentioned FeedFlix—the app that helps you get your money's worth from Netflix—updated this week with support for multiple accounts and notifications when titles in your DVD Queue are available via Watch Instantly."
- Steven Perez
from Bookmarklet
Although, wait. Netflix already tells you when something in your queue becomes available to stream. And I don't want to know how much my cost-per-disc is, because that would be SCARY. What I want is notification of when stuff I DON'T have in my queue comes out for instant watch. Is there an RSS feed for that? *goes to look*

The majority of citizens polled say they'd rather elect a gay than an atheist. I'm guessing at least 3 more presidents before we even elect an agnostic (maybe he'll/she'll be gay!)
- Jack&Cleo
I'm 33 and don't imagine we'll elect a non self-described Christian in my lifetime.
- Michelle Jones
Well, we are a christian nation. At least according to an abc poll 83% of americans claim to be christian.
- Steve Helder
from twhirl
Leo, dang I personally miss the TechTv days... alas, the powers that be are absolving all reference to the Great I AM, but HE's got that covered too, Amen?
- Dan
from twhirl
why is that bad? we were founded on Christian Beliefs even if freedom of religion is guarenteed. "In God We Trust" is in our country's DNA
- John Head
from twhirl
John, you've just shown you know absolutely nothing about what this country was founded on.
- Jeff Jones
Jeff, I disagree, John is right. I've studied our history and we are founded on the Bible...
- Douglas Porter
from twhirl
doubtful considering the constituents, though perhaps a non-christian president in your lifetime.
- xero
John, Douglas, please reread the Constitution. Nowhere will you find a reference to Christianity or the Bible. At best the majority of the founding fathers were deists. Then read Jefferson's writings from that period. These days he'd be considered a non-believer. BTW-"In God We Trust" was added to coinage and paper money in 1954 as a reaction to the Communist threat.
- Jack&Cleo
@Jeff Jones, I have to agree with @John Head. Christian morals and beliefs founded the USA. However, they felt tolerance of other religions (mainly other denominations) was important. Very few of the founding influential would even publicly consider atheism as viably PC at the time; the populace just wouldn't have it. If those governing the public did not answer to anyone other than themselves, the public would have felt the system corrupt. 1st amendment must be read in concert with the constitution.
- xero
@Jack Carlson, privately deist perhaps (many were mason's after all), but publicly Christian en masse, at least in legislative writing. You'll be hard-pressed to find a reference to "a god" or "whatever god" except when speaking specifically cross-religion. You'll find "God" and "our God" on many more of the public documents they wrote. Given, our fear of communism did change many things we see today to include a reference to "God", such as the coinage and pledge. Good point btw, and TJ was an exception
- xero
Quote seen on http://www.netalive.org/topics... "Deism says it is rationality and reason that leads to God. To the Deist, the evidence is the creation and the idea of what brought about the evidence is the Creator." It seems that, like an atheist, a deist is also an anti-religious rationalist, only having reached a different conclusion. I once called 18th century deists "the athiests of their day" and after reading some more about deism, I think I still stand by that.
- Pierre Houston
"God" is the basic Christian/Jewish god, why not "god(s)" or "Allah" or "Shiva" or "Zeus" or "the Creator(s)" or even better, why even bother mentioning a deity or creator? Given, references are mixed, but they really didn't need a reference at all, ever.
- xero
To those asking if one would want a non-Christian president: One does not need to be a Christian to have Christian values - or, indeed, the values held up by any religion.
- Christian Leonard Quale
from twhirl
One advantage to being publicly identified as an atheist; neither party likes you very much, they tend to leave you alone. Dem's are as theistic as Rep's.
- Jack&Cleo
If this were my world, then the 3 best Rugby Front Rowers would form a Trinity of Political Power, making decisions for everyone. These decisions would consist of Meat Pies and probably copious amounts of Ambrosia (or "beer" as some people would call it). We Aussies know how to make good pies.

For those claiming the US was founded on Christianity and the Bible, please show me more similarities between the Constitution vs. the Bible as compared to the writings of Thomas Paine.
- Jason Carreira
personally, i think we may be confusing being Founded On The Bible to being founded in the context of Christianity. and +1 Jason Carreira
- idnan
All this religious stuff is bullshit. What a waste of time. Why don't we start talking about investing in the infrastructure in this country instead of Iraq, education, healthcare, Mcain's 10 mansions @xero; Christian morals and beliefs founded the USA? Really? So enslaving people, killing off an entire race of people, and making money are Christian values?
- PC Easy
@PC Easy: Actually, making money is one of the more highly-regarded Christian values. Google 'Puritan Ethic'. Or visit a cathedral.
- Derrick Burns
@Mark VandenBerg - Whoa, so are you saying that you need to have "Judeo-Christian morals and values" to believe that murder is wrong? Maybe I missed your point, but I hope that's not what you're saying.
- Herb Hernandez
Influence? Sure.. However, that's quite different than saying we were founded on those beliefs.
- Herb Hernandez
abhorrent to have an elected official be religious? There's only a handful of federal elected officials who are NOT! Why is it abhorrent to the majority to have an elected official who is NOT religious? Can they not separate morality and ethics from religion and see how someone could be moral and ethical without being religious? Freedom of religion should mean freedom NOT to believe, as well, but so far not in this country.
- Jason Carreira
I was going to ask if this was the case, but this was better. I was curious because I ignore (don't hide, though) them also. They come with a cryptic title and no context, even though the videos on Seesmic carry descriptions. Seesmic+FriendFeed should fix this.
- Rahsheen?
I waffle between hiding and showing but rarely view them - I find talking head video generally a waste of bandwidth, mindwidth and time
- Brian Sullivan
I don't hide them, I was just commuting and missed this. I like what you did as well as spoken word in general.
- Mark Trapp
'Mindwidth' - My new word for the week. +1 Brian
- Johnny
I have a lot of micro services hidden... But I am a HUGE fan of spoken word and a lot of friends involved in the community (in real life). Keep doing your thing, dude! :)
- Mona Nomura
This was really an experiment. Some of you (ok, maybe none) will recognize this as the second verse to Social Media Mogul on last.fm. I agree with Brian, most of these vids are pretty useless. I guess I will be sure to leave a detailed comment if the vid is something I actually want people here to watch (assuming they are not automagically hidden)
- Rahsheen?
hmmm, should I have written that in rhyme?
- anna sauce
That was refreshing. Reading gets old after a while.
- Josh Haley
I usually just scroll straight past them. This is the first one I've watched since the video comment thing started. Glad I did, it made me chuckle.
- Michael C. Harris
Sorry Rahsheen, I don't really watch them, but i'll watch this one.
- sergiooo
Come on guys show him the real Black Power not the panzies he's playing with! I want to see some boyz in the hood jump Loren, just for fun you know! lol
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
Nah. He is a troll. I don't feed trolls. It just makes them grow bigger. I haven't seen or heard anything from him and I like it that way.
- Rahsheen?
Well up to U but U flame him U get popularity! He is UR ticket!
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
And yes I know he is a Troll, that is why give him back what he seeds! ;-)
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
For me, I only go after Flaming Trolls. Nice folks I do not bother!

Holy Moly That Is Cool! @Josh: A Southern man don't need him around anyhow!
- Mattb4rd
See if he'll dish on who will be at this year's bridge concert. Inquiring ticket buyers want to know!
- Bill Sanders
Matthew: we hung out in his old mobile recording rig. What a hoot. Bill: Neil wasn't there, he's on tour in Europe. We'll have a separate interview with Neil someday, this was mostly to see the technical aspects of making music. Hearing his stuff straight off of his two-inch-tape was freaking awesome.
- Robert Scoble
You have an amazing life Robert with the people you get to interact with!
- Joe Dawson
Dale: my producer, Rocky helped build his studio when he was 12-years-old. His dad built it, which is one reason we got in, but the real reason was to talk to his audio engineer about how much quality of his music is lost at CD-quality (Neil wants people to be able to listen to music recorded at 192 khz per second -- CD's are recorded at 44.1 khz). We listened to his music recorded at 192 and then on CD and it's not even close. The quality difference is so extreme.
- Robert Scoble
I learned that Neil was one of the first artists to try digital, but that he went back to analog tape recording (the tapes cost about $1,000 per hour, by the way) because he didn't like the emotion that he could capture on analog.
- Robert Scoble
Kingsley: we'll talk about his electric car project when we do a real interview later in the year.
- Robert Scoble
Robert, vinyl purists have been saying that for years: digital can't capture the heart between 0 and 1.
