Quick question: Does anybody know the most up-to-date genetic diversity (measured by pi or theta) of different human populations? Is the African population still most varied? Citations welcome...
Your problem here is how do you define population? I'm not much of a population geneticist, but I have a small amount of biological anthropology and it's my understanding that to talk of the "African population" is simplistic at best. Some one else with more background want to give a better informed answer? - Neal
Suggest you start with the human genome diversity project here: http://www.stanford.edu/group..., but also note the strong criticisms of this approach, well-articulated here: http://www.hgalert.org/topics.... - Maxine
