"In Steven Sinofsky’s thesis of Windows on ARM (generically dubbed WOA) published on the Building Windows 8 blog today, two photographs of an early development build of Windows running on prototype ARM hardware dates the effort to as far back as 22 January 2010, almost a week before iPad’s announcement on the 27th. Although Microsoft waited almost a year later to reveal WOA for the first time in public at a CES 2011 press conference, it’s now clear Microsoft too had future bets on an ARM-based ecosystem even before the iPad began selling and ARM took the spotlight for tablet devices."

"Germany has delayed signing an international copyright treaty that has some Internet users worried about online censorship, joining Poland and the Czech Republic in hesitating on the issue. The Foreign Ministry said Germany held off on signing the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, or ACTA, "to leave room for discussions" after the Justice Ministry voiced concerns. An official signature is needed before the deal can go to Parliament for approval."

"LinkedIn is connecting with investors. The dominant professional networking site was one of the few bright spots Friday on Wall Street. Its shares skyrocketed nearly 18% to $89.96 in the single biggest one-day jump since its initial public stock offering in May. LinkedIn’s stock has doubled in value since the IPO. The jet fuel powering the professional networking site: its fourth-quarter earnings, released Thursday. Revenue more than doubled from the previous year to nearly $168 million. The Mountain View, Calif., company earned $6.9 million, surpassing analysts’ expectations. And it forecast higher in 2012. LinkedIn expects its revenue to rise as much as 65% this year to $860 million."
