"The St. Stepanos Monastery is an Armenian monastery about 15 km northwest of Jolfa city, East Azarbaijan Province northeast Iran."It was built in the 9th century and rebuilt in the Safavid era after several earthquakes damaged it.

and on the entrance doorway, an inscription left by Abbas Mirza states his contribution to the church ;)) I love the location of the church, it's by the river Aras, and it's located in a very quiet mountainous setting.

I made a correction about the content of the inscription. It was Abbas Mirza who regained the church from Russians, but what is stated in the inscriptoin has nothing to do with this. The inscription is about his contribution to the church.
